This review is for Purple Carrot an online vegan mostly, food kit delivery service. It offers pre made meals extra add ons and primarily meal kits with all the ingredients you put together and cook or mix yourself. I have tried lots of different types of meal delivery services and am reviewing this as my favorite. Why? Let me tell you. The food delivered is always fresh and all the ingredients that should be there are. The variety of things to choose is the best in mostly plant based that I've tried. There's very little waste as what you need for the recipe is there. Often there is more spice then needed, so save that for something else. There have been a few times a little spot may need to be cut off a veg., but nothing big. The pricing is ok., better than some more pricy than others but it depends on how many items are ordered. Another key point for me is if delivery is on time. I have ordered at least 12 weeks so far and delivery has always been in the time frame. Oh and cold food is packed well and kept cold. Not sure how that works in hot summer heat as I've only tried in winter. In addition the app is easy to use easy to see or adjust your final order and exactly what you are paying for. I have since cancelled in order to visit my local markets but if I were to go back to a food delivery service I'd choose them again. The only other service I can say these things about doesn't deliver to where I live so Purple Carrot remains best choice so far. read more

I had canceled my subscription and account months ago, but then was just charged again for a box. When I tried to get in touch with a customer service rep via email, I hit a dead-end. This customer service experience has been absolutely terrible. I haven't heard back from anyone who can actually help me and when Taylor (your chat bot) has offered to connect me with an actual human, conveniently, "something has gone wrong." I attempted to cancel my subscription on multiple occasions prior to renewal. Despite these efforts, I was informed on the morning of renewal that it was "too late" to cancel and that my subscription had already resumed. I contacted customer service immediately and requested that the upcoming shipment be stopped, noting that it had not yet shipped. This request was refused. The food is just okay. Some grocery stores now carry their frozen meals. Try, if you can, before signing up because getting out of their subscription is not easy. Their biggest problem is shipping. The ready-to-eat meals are shipped "fresh", not frozen, and are only packaged with few ice packs. They ship from Chicago. This is a big problem if it is warm/hot outside and the package takes 1-2 days to arrive (took mine 2 days). I received mine in March when it was still under 60F outside and the food was barely cold. Also, it was not packed well and several meals were broken open with the contents all over the package. They did refund money for those meals but made me document every inch of it with photographs. I immediately unsubscribed because I can only imagine what mess they will be in the warmer months. The ONLY reason they are ranked at the top of articles reviewing meal delivery plans is because purple carrot spends all of their money on advertising and under 8% on the quality of their food and/or their delivery service. After having an unbelievably horrible experience with purple carrot and trying to have my money refunded for weeks, I found out one of my old college friends used to work for their marketing department. She said she wouldn't recommend purple carrot to her worst enemy because of their appalling business model which allocates almost zero dollars to food quality or a delivery service and the open secret that they are very difficult to reach to right any of the numerous wrongs they pass on to their customers. They have the cheapest prices because they provide the cheapest meals. Not inexpensive, cheap and disgusting. Purple carrot uses Ontrac for delivery, which is rated 1 star on yelp because of their utter incompetence. Ontrac has close to a 50% failure rate which includes not being able to deliver on time, not being able to deliver to the correct address or deliver at all. So you have two bottom-of-the-barrel companies working in tandem to ensure that even if you receive your order at some point, it's going to be cheap, disgusting fare that is not even healthy. Purple carrot is least healthy meal delivery service in the plant-based meal delivery arena. After reading many, many glowing reviews about how delicious and healthy they were in articles that ranked meal delivery services, I trustingly gave them a shot without intensely studying the nutritional content of each meal. Have tried out over five different services in this market space and experienced overwhelming healthy, fresh meals at each one. Have only tried several different services for variety. With their meals costing the consumer less money than a trip to McDonalds, imagine how cheap the meals must be to make and deliver and still make purple carrot a huge profit - a large enough profit to be able to spend insane amounts of money manipulating and buying off corporate reviews. Very scary to think about. When I've gone back and reread these corporate reviews, I can now see that main theme running through the all the glowing reviews of purple carrot is that it's the cheapest option. Taco Bell is also a cheap option, but people who are looking for a healthy meal delivery service are most likely expecting better quality and nutrition than the cheapest fast food. And Taco Bell is a little pricier per meal than purple carrot. There are too many elements of a fraudulent business to detail, but it speaks volumes that purple carrot lists a phone number and urges patrons to call with problems, but when you do call, you get a recording that says due to the high number of calls (complaints), you have to email them your complaint. I emailed purple carrot over ten times over two weeks and received an automated response every time that my complaint had been resolved, even though nothing had changed. Finally had to set aside a block of time to go through the hassle and inconvenience of using their chat feature that gave me bot responses until I threatened legal action. Then, suddenly, within minutes, my money was refunded. It's obvious purple carrot's business model is to charge customers immediately and frequently and then make it a time-consuming process to bring their attention to the numerous, problematic issues concerning quality control, deceptive practices and lack of a real delivery service. Every negative review about this sham of a company mentions the same three issues; horrible, inedible quality of food, inability to even receive food due to a useless delivery service, and the inability to reach customer service. Trust these reviews. The fact that purple carrot's yelp rating isn't less than one star is due to their aggressive advertising dollars, along with all the glowing reviews in articles ranking meal delivery services. They are all paid reviews. Every damn one. Have never hoped a company would go out of business before my experience with purple carrot. I can't describe how disappointed I am with this service! First my box was delivered in my apartment common area and was not notified until days later. I had this problem with another box as well. A lot of the food was spoiled by the time I received all of my boxes. I tried to contact customer service with emails and text to let them know of the issue with no response!! I have been trying different meal kits, Hello Fresh, Blue Apron, etc. But there is a Vegan in the house so time to give Purple Carrot a shot. Depending on your subscription you get 2,3, or more meal packs, kits that have all the ingredients to make a restaurant-quality meal, and a booklet with recipes, photos, directions and other interesting tips and food, meal, and health advice. Nine out of ten times the meals you prepare are good and wholesome and full of flavor. But you can't pre-select a meal you want again because they are planned months ahead on seasonal food availabilities timetable. And of course, with Purple Carrot you never are going to get any meats or dairy products. As with all meal kits, you save on not overbuying ingredients you probably are not going to use. But then again you pay more for what you do get because someone had to add the right amount to your meal kit and recipe book. During the pandemic rather than visit restaurants I subscribed to five different meal preparation kits. Here is how they compare. Purple Carrot is a vegan meal kit. It has the most ambitious recipes, excellent ethnic options, and a lot of variety. Because a lot of the recipes involve tofu or seitan, neither of which are my favorites, I stuck with the vegetable only recipes. I really like that instead of instruction cards each week includes a very professionally produced booklet with all of the recipes. This is the most expensive of the five plans. If you are willing to go vegetarian rather than vegan, it's worth considering Hello Fresh. Hello Fresh offers by far the most different meals each week, and has an excellent selection of vegetarian choices in addition to meat based ones. Limited customization of meals is available. I really like their recipes. Packaging is very good, with the ingredients in separate bags. Shipments always arrived with the ice packs still frozen. This is my top pick in terms of value for the variety. Blue Apron is the first kit we tried. Limited customization of meals is available, but there is a lot of variety in the recipes. Vegetarian selections and swaps are available. There are some good ethic selections. Packaging is very good, with the ingredients in separate bags. Shipments always arrived with the ice packs still frozen. My only nit is that sometimes condensation had soaked the instruction cards. This is an excellent choice, and a moderate price. Home Chef offers the most flexibility in swapping ingredients. Nearly every meal allows substantial customization of the proteins, including upgrades in quality, change from beef, to chicken, to vegetarian, etc. When fish is part of a recipe it is impressive how fresh it is. We had a bento box that included raw tuna, and it was as good as at any sushi place. Instructions are clear, and the recipes are interesting and varied enough to avoid repetitiveness. They also have options you can simply heat up, although we never tried these. Packaging is very good, with the ingredients in separate bags. Shipments always arrived with the ice packs still frozen. For overall quality, this is my favorite of the five plans. Every Plate is by far the least expensive of all the meal kits. Vegetarian selections are very limited. The downside is that the recipes are quite repetitive. If there are three possible proteins, three possible sauces, three possible carbs, and three possible vegetables, then there are 81 possible combinations, and you tend to see them, over and over. Like many people I'm sure, I turned to meal delivery services to help me get through the pandemic. I tried several, The Purple Carrot included. While I am not vegan, I have been very happy with The Purple Carrot and anticipate that it will be one of the services I continue with even when we are back to normal. Though The Purple Carrot is a vegan meal box, I find it accessible enough as an omnivore. I tend to choose the more vegetable-based dishes, avoiding the processed meat-substitutes other than tofu (eg, seitan and vegan sausages). With the exception of receiving one unripe avocado in one of my first boxes the quality has been excellent. All of the ingredients for a particular dish are bagged together into a little meal kit, and all of the recipes for the week (not just the ones you ordered) come in a little booklet. I find this to be a nice touch -- it is a little more like cooking out of a cookbook than using those cards from other meal boxes, where everything is summarized in 6 steps. I've been keeping the booklets for meal ideas -- in particular they have some great variations on overnight oats. Everything I've tried has come together relatively easily. Yes, there is prep work, a bit more than Blue Apron, but I've never had anything take more than an hour to prepare. Ethnic dishes -- Indian in particular -- have been particularly tasty. As a gal that loves her fish and poultry I didn't expect to like The Purple Carrot, but their quality and flavors have won me over. We really enjoyed the meals but delivery was an absolute nightmare. Every single week the box would show up a day late, barely holding itself together, soggy from the melted ice packs, full of holes and dents. The box would be hot on the inside and the food was almost always spoiled. It was such a regular occurrence that it was truly shocking to get the box on time and still in a square/rectangular shape. We had a meal with pasta that was smashes to pieces inside it's own box. So the delivery box was so damaged that a box... wrapped in insulation... and packed inside another box was somehow completely destroyed. Purple Carrot was good about refunding most of the meals that were ruined but it was too much of a hassle. They said they would contact FedEx but we saw no improvement. FedEx customer service claims that Purple Carrot ships the box far too late to arrive on time. The problem is probably on both sides- purple carrot packs boxes poorly and ships them late and FedEx does what it does best (smash your box to pieces). Why anyone would ship something as time sensitive as food with FedEx is beyond me. 1 Star because the very few meals that we did get to eat were good. If it were possible I would give Purple Carrot a minus zero review. I started ordering from them sometime last year. Each and every order came with issues, i.e., spoiled vegetables, missing ingredients etc. I stopped using Purple Carrot. Mid Dec 2022; I looked on their website, I DID NOT PLACE AN ORDER. That Sunday, I received a text indicating I had a food delivery arriving the following week. I was billed for $106.00 for the food; which I did not receive. When I set up a dispute, with my credit card company; I was informed; once Purple Carrot has your credit card number they can charge your account, even if you open the website to browse. Purple Carrot is a plant based meal subscription box delivered right to your house. I was Interested in this because it seemed my daughter was getting bored with the same old things. It was easy to sign up and pick you menu, you also get to pick the regular box or quick and easy. Luckily I watched a review on You tube and the person said it wasn't the easiest and they had four pans cooking at one time. I knew that wouldn't work for us, so I ordered the quick and easy. The box came right on schedule and everything was packaged nicely. Most recipes came with easy to follow directions. We also had a special delivery for Thanksgiving and the recipes were very good. The stuffing, gravy and the citrus cake were the favorites. The squash needed to cook longer than what was directed, still hard at dinner time. The Brussel sprouts were good until the kimchi sauce was added. That kinda ruined it for us, that's just our personal taste. I am not sure how long we will continue, it's expensive. 70$ for 3 meals and that feeds two people. I don't know about you guys, but I've been eating like crap in lockdown. One day I ate nothing but saltines. I just started Purple Carrot, and so far I'm happy with them. No delivery issues, but with Covid I know some things are just out of their control. I found the variety of choices more than enough and the instructions are written well. I got the 4 serving meal plan, but I may change it because it's an enormous amount of food. Two things I'd like to see change: --There is TOO MUCH plastic in the packaging. I'd love to see them use more paper. --I just assumed they were organic. They're not. It would be great if they could get there. The only thing I'll add is the portions have been huge so far (ymmv depending on which kit you get), so with leftovers the prices are lower than they first appear. read more

I am on a fitness journey back to a healthy lifestyle after fighting depression and anxiety. I used to be vegan and I dropped a lot of weight then just made it my lifestyle for about 5 years. I enjoyed it and figured since I have a large amount of weight to lose I'd go back to what works for me. But I knew I needed help this time so I looked into meal delivery services and found this one. What sold me over all the others was a single recipe. Nashville hot chicken sandwich. The picture looked great. I signed up and after the new customer discounts my order came out to $44 even for 2 meal kits and 2 prepared meals. Unfortunately, the sandwich wasn't one of them. As a matter of fact, the sandwich isn't on the menu for the next month from what I see. Oh well (I thought) it'll come around. Besides, I'm going to use this service for a while. Initially, the site said my order was to arrive 4/4. But something forced it to arrive 4/5. A bit of an inconvenience because I had planned on having those meals that day so I didn't have anything at home. I ended up Frankensteining a pasta dish to get through. When my box did arrive today (4/5) I was SO excited. But that faded when I realized one of my kits were missing ingredients. And I had some extra ingredients that went with nothing in the kits. I reached out to the company via their chat function on their website. They said there were some last minute substitutions at the distribution facility which is why there wasn't any notification. But assured me that mixing the provided veg would equal fajita mix and the seasoning that I thought was the wrong one was actually the same blend as the one listed even though it had a different name. They also issued me a $5 credit because Dijon mustard was missing from my order completely and it was needed for one of the kits. I have to admit, this put me off. But I made the recipe with the ingredients, except I used my own frozen fajita blend I already had. I was the mushroom patty melts and they turned out ok. Could have used more seasoning or if it was the Cajun seasoning instead of the new England seasoning it might have been better. The cole slaw wasn't for me though. Too much dill so I'd use less next time. Overall, I was happy because I was full and I can see that the service will do what I was hoping in that it'll give me new vegan meal ideas. So I told myself I'd give it a month and if I'm not happy after I'd cancel. I REALLY don't like that substitutions are made without notice since I'm trying to lose weight and it makes me worry about how it changes the nutritional information. But they do provide an abundance of certain ingredients so you might even have some leftover that you didn't count on. And I was surprised to find out that they provide a whole bulb of garlic regardless of whether your meal kit(s) call for it. There's some up and down that I'm seeing here. Tried Purple Carrot after receiving a free three-meal trial. Here's how it went: Meal one: Started out full of excitement and optimism. Ended up hate cooking. My wife found the Sesame Ginger Noodles with Stir-Fried Greens & Toasted Peanuts entirely too spicy - even after leaving out all of the chili sauce. I ate the entire thing engulfed in apathy. Meal two: Abandoned the prep for meal number two - Mango Poke Bowls with Macadamia Nuts & Sea Lettuce Dressing - halfway through and tossed it all in the food waste container. Wasteful? Yes, but it beats throwing it through the window. Seriously. I thought this was supposed to take the stress out of meal prep. Meal three: Left to simply rot in my refrigerator. As they say, hate is not the opposite of love, apathy is and I simply could not bring myself to care about the Tahini Cauliflower Steaks with Red Lentil Skordalia & Charred Green Beans. Final notes: So. Much. Packaging. The company wants to position itself as super green, but in reality, it's an environmental disaster. When you go to cancel, you are presented with a long list of reasons to cancel. You must pick one and only one. "All of the above" is not an option which is a shame. I canceled after several boxes that were bad and my card had not been charged yet for the box and the order had not shipped, but I was a few hours outside of their cancellation window and they would not do anything to help me, I got the box and again had rotten produce in every kit and they still would only refund me a few dollars for the ingredients that were spoiled, but that left me with a box that could not be used. I really like that they offer vegan PREPARED meals. I received my first week with a nice discount for 6 prepared meals. The delivery was on time and the packaging was easy to store in my freezer (however, there was a lot of plastic and cardboard that needed to be recycled). When I had an evening when I didn't feel like cooking for myself, I would take a meal out of the freezer and pop it into the microwave. The really bad thing about Purple Carrot was that a lot of those meals that I ordered tasted HORRIBLE. All of them, except for one meal) I couldn't eat...After a couple bites, I tossed them in the trash. I will not be ordering from them again. Purple Carrot is not a perfect service. It is one of the few vegan-only meal delivery services that provides meals that the customer prepares (not pre-prepared meals). I have used them for a few years. While they have improved some, for much of that time, it seemed like at least one meal a month had issues (missing ingredients, spoiled ingredients). It used to be fairly easy to get a credit for these issues, but it has gotten harder. They now want photos. How do I show a frozen cucumber, which looks like a cucumber. Recently, they have raised their rates. I understand this, as inflation is moderately high. But they have raised their rates a SECOND time by effectively eliminating their free shipping. The free shipping isn't gone, there is a new minimum purchase to get it. Unfortunately for me, there is nothing extra I can realistically order to get the free shipping. I'm single, and 6 meals/week is all I need. Their breakfast and lunch options just don't work for me. And their pantry items are a joke. Almost always sold out, and few options. I need to spend another $20/week to get the free shipping, and that would be a waste of my money. The shipping charge is $10, effectively a SECOND rate hike in less than 6 months. Their food is good. Many meals are excellent. But between shipment issues (mentioned above), making it harder to address these issues, and a couple rate hikes in rapid succession, I CAN"T recommend this service. Also, their shipment tracking SUCKS! They often state the delivery is on time, and it doesn't arrive that day. This makes it difficult to plan - am I going to get a food delivery? Or do I need to make other plans for dinner (often last minute). They also implemented the shipping rate hike when it was too soon to get a shipment from a different vendor. When I first found Purple Carrot I was so excited that there was a vegan version of Blue Apron out there and couldn't wait to try it. I subscribed to the service for a little over a year and even upgraded to the TB12 meals as they are higher in protein and lower in sugars and processed ingredients. I will say that all the meals Purple Carrot cooks up are, for the most part, extremely tasty. They also provide colorful easy to follow recipe cards and even sent me a really nice TB12 binder to put all my recipe cards in. In March 2018 I decided to cancel my subscription. It seems that Purple Carrot's Operations team just can't get it together and despite several mishaps, I finally had enough. Also, the quality has gone down...way down. I'm sorry, but when I pay $78 per week for a meal delivery service, moldy ingredients, missing recipe cards, and missing ingredients is simply inexcusable. I have given Purple Carrot multiple chances to get it together and they're only getting worse. Every time I receive a box and there's something wrong with it I send them an email and I receive the same response, "I'll let my operations team know..." yet nothing changes. Today, for example I received a moldy onion and a green onion that's literally a day or two away from going bad. This tells me that their produce isn't being turned around fast enough likely because they're losing customers left and right (based on the reviews here). Prior boxes have had missing recipe cards and missing ingredients. How can you be a meal delivery service and have ingredients missing from the box?! Recently I have noticed mistakes in the recipes as well such as ingredients being provided but not included in the recipe...or it will tell you to chop something but won't refer to it again in the recipe so it becomes a guessing game. The quality is also declining. Part of TB12's slogan is "Eat Like a Champion." I highly doubt Tom Brady eats boil in bag quinoa and microwaveable minute rice. I joined Purple Carrot for healthy home cooked meals, not ingredients that are boiled or nuked in plastic. Lastly, every time I log into Purple Carrot, there's a link letting me know I can send a free box to a friend....so I did and I quickly realized that this a shady deal offered by Purple Carrot disguised as them being. In order for your friend to receive a "free" box they have to sign up for a subscription and enter their credit card info, which if they're not familiar with the skip deadlines, which most aren't, they wind up getting charged for a box. I see several people have complained and this happened to my friend and he received poor customer service. What really grinds my gears is that I thought I was doing something nice for a friend and really wanted to show him how tasty meat-free can be but now Purple Carrot has soured the situation. Additionally, I feel this shows how devalued I am as a customer of Purple Carrot...that they would provide my friend who I referred, poor customer service. The whole thing is shady and shows that Purple Carrot is desperate for customers but what they don't realize is they're losing customers by engaging in these shady practices. If you truly want to spread the word about how delicious and healthy your food is then do that...don't make people sign up and charge them for stuff they don't want. I can't stand when businesses do stuff like that...it NEVER works out for the business in the long run. Look, I have been vegan for over 3 years now and I'm pretty hardcore about it. Often times I struggle with what to cook and what to eat...or how much to cook...so this service was perfect for me. It sucks that Purple Carrot has left such a bad taste in my mouth. I received my 2nd order even though I didn't want it, and it was not the pre-made meals as I received the first time. This order was food "kits" that you spend a little time preparing with all of the ingredients provided. We made the Korean tofu tacos and found them to be fresh and delicious. My first week of PC was perfect - it was delivered to my address on file and on time. While food prep took ages longer than what the recipes called for, the food was delicious and I didn't mind spending the extra time on each meal. Second week - package is marked "delivered" but I never received it. I check the tracking status, and the photo their shipping carrier uploaded proving the package was delivered is not a photo of my front door, but someone else's. Frustrated? Sure - but mistakes happen. I contact PC, they claim my address was mistyped, but it was not, as they had no issue delivering to my address the first week. They don't tell me the address that the package was delivered to, they claim they cannot send me a replacement, and that they have told the family who received my food that they can keep it for free. They give me food credit for the subsequent week and an extra $25 credit - annoyed, but I'll give them another shot. Third week - package is marked "delivered" but I never received it. Where is it? I check the shipping carrier's front porch photo - my food is back at the house my previous week's package was delivered to. Now again, I am out of a week's food and another person is eating the food I paid for, for free. I reached back out to PC customer service and my point of contact at their shipping carrier company. Still waiting for a reply but it doesn't look like PC is going to work out. A shame because their recipes are delicious, but I'm not going to waste any more of my time. Repealing all recommendations I made to vegan friends and family to support PC because mistakes happen, but mistakes don't happen twice. Twice is carelessness. read more

I've tried several other meal delivery services and The Purple Carrot was by far the most disappointing. It started when I forced to setup an account to see when the soonest I could get a meal box delivered. I was then surprised that it was going to take an extra week to start than I was expected. This timing didn't work for me and now I had an account that I didn't really want to setup in the first place. I elected to skip all the menu weeks that were posted so that I had the option to come back and pick a week when it worked with my scheduled. Fast forward a few weeks, there was a menu that was newly released that I hadn't skipped. Other meal services send a advance notification that let you confirm or cancel an upcoming delivery. Purple Carrot doesn't do this so I received an unexpected meal box. The other issue is they charged me the full price and didn't apply the sign-up bonus. As far as the meals, I really liked they had a vegan option but I had issues with missing ingredients. The recipe was the Roasted Cabbage Steaks and it was missing the smoked paprika, white misco paste and white balsamic vinegar. The other issue I had with this recipe is that it included a microwavable side of rice and quinoa. On top of that, the recipe requires a blender. I've never had a recipe from a meal delivery service that required a microwave or blender. I also didn't like that they combined ingredients for two recipes and put them in one of the bags. I've never seen this before and just assumed they forgot to give me the garlic cloves. Then when I was making the next recipe, I saw there was extra garlic that was meant for a recipe I'd already cooked. read more

I wanted to try Purple Carrot, because my friends raved about the menus and i don't usually cook vegan - and they gave me a "free" box to try. but NOTHING was free or discounted. rather i was forced to pay multiple times the $72 despite the company not delivering what they offered (they emailed many times about delays and changes in what would be delivered) I'm pissed and dissatisfied by the experience (customer service personnel were fine and the menus were yummy but the product experience was crap). my first box was delayed a week - which is fine, i understand delays in this world - but since it arrived Wednesday night (after 5pm) i missed the tuesday night window to cancel / change the next box. which i wanted to do - i did not want to receive another box once i got the first one. what turned me off the most was the excess packaging (individual, single use plastic bags for half a teaspoon for a spice and ice packs, boxes, etc for a few products). but that's not really the problem. the problem that i was locked into paying two months of $72 for something that was advertised to me as a "free box" from my friend. no. not free and i couldn't get out of paying even after the first round. even more annoying is that this second round, they said that they'd take $36 off my next box because i was so annoyed by the first experience and then when my second box was not what i requested they'll take $24 off.... but that doesn't help anything. i canceled the subscription that i never wanted. so that $ off would only apply to the third box... even though i didn't want the second box. don't worry the second box didn't go to waste, i gave it to my vegan neighbors who just had a baby. but note, NOTHING was free as my first email said "x friend heard you were interested in Purple Carrot and wanted to start you off with a week of free, utterly delicious, plant-based meals." not only nothing free, but i had to pay for what i didn't want. read more

I received my food and could not cook two of my meals due to a missing ingredient in one and a rotten onion in another. I wrote to the company and they refunded me $5 for the onion and fresh garlic I was missing. I was beyond insulted. read more

Honestly the meals are super tasty and I enjoy getting a box when I want. Definitely important to manage your subscription but that comes along with any subscription these days. Haven't been able to find any other vegan meals that deliver top notch flavor on a consistent basis like PC. Oh and recommend trying out the microwavable options since you can add anything to your order. 10/10 - my fave vegan meal service! read more

Been a customer for some time. The customer service/delivery service are HORRIBLE and unacceptable. The food WHEN it arrives is pretty decent. The boxes are often missing ingredients. The prep work is extensive. After a box didn't show up on time I was sent this: "It should NOT show up at this point, as we have an agreement with the shipper that if they fail to deliver our perishables within our 72 hour freshness window, they are to dispose of the delivery." My next two deliveries showed up 5 days after ship date. Food all warm been the in the mail for nearly a week. Total joke. Total waste. The best part is PC certainly doesn't care. They don't follow up on delivery dates themselves at all. You have to do it and complain about it or else they will charge you nearly $75 for spoiled food. AVOID. read more

The food is excellent and I would still be a customer if Purple Carrot had better customer service. Had a problem with an order. The only way to contact them is through chat and the representative was short and didn't even try to solve the problem. Instead she just let a new customer cancel their order. With the high cost of customer acquisition you would think service would be a priority. I asked her to relay my concerns to management thinking they would get involved. Not a word from them until a couple weeks later when I received a survey. I relayed my concerns and it asked if someone could contact me. I chose yes. Again, no word.
