What can be said about a place that only serves beer and liquor. The service was fine. The interior has had a facelift and looks a lot better than the last time I was here. They need to get a kitchen of some sort though. However, they will allow you to bring in your own food if you desire. Be prepared though. The drinks are not cheap. Was in town for a tournament and came here on a Saturday night. There was a live band and the vibe was immaculate. Very talented band covering classics and top50 pop songs. Drinks are pricy but service is good. There was one dude who kept smoking cigs on the dance floor and it took a good hour before purple moose finally kicked him out. read more

A good place for quick food and drink .. right next to boardwalk . I really liked the ambience inside. ... there was music and loved the colors inside . We walked 2 miles along the boardwalk from our hotel to the Ferris Wheel looking for the bar that seemed the most fun and this was it! Live DJ at 9:00 and then a band at 10:00 with cold beers throughout. The band played covers of hit songs and the entire bar sang along to Livin' on a Prayer. Everyone was incredibly cool and nice from the bouncers at the door to the bartenders and the patrons. Best bar on the boardwalk - no contest. read more

I googled "gay bar's in Ocean City" and this bar popped up. I thought I would give it a try to see what it was like. Its on the boardwalk near a few other bars which are exciting and I was eager to see what this place offered. I was incredibly disappointed and downright upset at my experience. It was my first time and I will probably never set foot or recommend this bar to anyone. There was a $10.00 cover, which is reasonable for a bar. I gladly paid the entrance fee and was able to with my card, no issue. The bar was a fully stocked bar with, in my opinion, reasonably priced drinks. The lines moved quickly and the bartenders were friendly. The reason I had a bad experience is that I was standing in front of the stage listening and jamming out alone, and not bothering anyone. At one point, I guess being the loner, I had a bouncer come up to me and tell me I was being asked to leave because I was bothering people. I hadn't had a single conversation with anyone and was shocked. I didn't even bother with asking as it was quite clear this visitor from out of state (Florida) was clearly unwelcome in a rather 'welcoming' environment. It was obvious I was alone and the rest of the bar was full of people who were together. So I dare say, if you are alone and want to just enjoy some time alone, maybe see the local scene and enjoy a drink, bring a friend. You are not welcome alone, and if you are part of the LGBT+ community, go elsewhere. This place is the complete opposite and not worth the time. read more

I'm only giving it a 3 because they have house dance music nights that are a complete @#$% show. Nobody wants to hear that. And watch the kids fight and grope each other. Other than that, great place to see bands. Here right now and the bartenders at the front bar are killing it. Absolutely on top of everything, fast, friendly, and attentive. Best Bar in Ocean City This is five star review for by far the best bar on the boardwalk in OB. A giant bar, serving strong drinks, and affordable beers fast. These bartenders whip around the bar. The bar is dark even during the day and they have great live music scene at night. We had a great time during bike week in September. Always the late night go to. Don't waste your time. Even though it's right on the boardwalk, people avoid this place as I have never seen it busy and when it is, it's a very unsavory crowd and they are very very boring. It's funny, I just saw four bouncers at the door in about eight people inside. read more

We usually hit up the Purple Moose every time we come to OC without children lol. It's a fun vibe; I have never had issues with price gouging at the door as other reviews have mentioned. The security / bouncers are always nice. We actually came here 2 nights in a row to see Alter Ego play and on the second night they didn't ask for my ID at the door because they remembered me from the night before lol. So that was cool. Bathrooms are as expected - it's a bar. Not a lot of hard seltzer options. In fact they only had white claw black cherry when we just went. Also no food, but during the summer the boardwalk has plenty of food options. Parking is a pain if you can't find a close spot. But we always have a good time here. read more

We went during the evening and were greeted by a security guard at the front door who checked our ids (he looked and sounded miserable). There is a packed long bar, but luckily we could find 2 seats. It took a while for the bartender to come around to us. We noticed that he would go around to everyone else but would lowkey ignore us to the point where we had to call him over just for him to stay, wait and go directly to someone else. It didn't help that we were the only non white people there then, so we felt a little singled out. Even this group of guys noticed what was happening and thought it strange. We only got to have 2 drinks, so we quickly left and went somewhere else to drink and eat (because they serve food). The bathrooms could be cleaner, but I didn't expect much, considering it's a bar! The vibes overall bar atmosphere was pretty alive, and people looked like they were having a great time! I didn't know any of the songs playing, considering it's a Rock bar (unfortunately, I don't listen to Rock), but that didn't bother me. Later at night, we realized our card was charged $50 even though the drinks were $14 total + tip. I'm giving the benefit of the doubt, considering that the charge is still "pending," so hopefully, we will see if it will change soon. We're still determining if this was because we had a tab open, but I hope the accurate amount shows soon. Another bummer was the fact that there was no food here whatsoever! So, I recommend you eat somewhere before you come here, or don't anticipate staying here long. Luckily, I had Trasher fries in my bag, so I could snack on that for a while before we decided to get up and leave to a restaurant and bar. This place would be good if you are into Rock music as they have live bands playing there weekly! We are willing to give it another shot in the future! read more

During the day, me and my group went here and the staff was amazing. We promised to return later in the evening. My and my group came back later that night and I left my phone in my car so I had to go back. I told the group to go on and I'd meet them. I met them on the boardwalk where they told me it's a $10 cover to get in. That's fine, so me and my group walked back over to the entrance and the security guard said $20 cover..... so in the matter of 2-5 minutes, they doubled the cover charge !!! It's highway robbery and I'm convinced the security guards would've pocketed the extra $10. I'm extremely dissatisfied by that type of behavior both from a business standpoint and a consumer standpoint. One of my guy friend was dancing and he asked him to stop and told him that he'll get kick out if he keeps dancing. The bartender jams out with a smile no matter the time of day because his job is to promote the Top 40s party that never stops even if the dance floor by the bathrooms is deserted. This has always been a stop for us as long as we've been coming to IC, but as we've got older and have kids, it got pushed to the back burner. We did always make an effort to stop and get a good Bloody Mary. So since we had a rainy day we were able to make some time to stop over for a Bloody Mary. I didn't think they were as great as they used to be, maybe my tastes have changed, we were provided pickles on the side, it did have green olives and an old bay ring around the rim, it just didn't have that good rich flavor I remember, it used to be more balanced and at $37.50 for 3 of them, I think we'll be moving in from the purple moose. read more

If you're looking for a good, STIFF drink on the OC Boardwalk THIS is where it's at. My family and I were here celebrating a birthday during 4th of July weekend. This was one of the many stops we made along the Boardwalk. We were there pretty early in the afternoon, so it was quiet. There's plenty to choose from at the bar, including the namesake "Purple Moose" (heard it was good, but didn't bother trying) and several beers on tap. Don't get TOO used to a song on the jukebox. I love when places are creative with their names. Makes we want to try them all. They don't serve food but they have a food delivery hotline for local restaurants who will deliver right to the bar. My spirits cost me $5.50 so not as high as I was expecting it to be since it's a tourist trap on the boardwalk. Really like this place. We will be back. read more
