The interior decor of the restaurant was nice! It felt homey yet well decorated at the same time. We got the sizzling sisig with rice and other food which was great! The service was fast and the staff was polite.

This is a pretty good Filipino restaurant owned by the same people who started Domu & Soupa Noodles next door. You order at the two computer stands inside the restaurant and they will bring you the food. I love the wallpaper of famous Filipino stars (Manny Pacquiao, Jo Koy, guy from Black Eye Peas ). The chicharrón was too salty but great crunch. The pancit was decent; the chicken on it looked dry but actually tasted pretty good. The pumpkin curry had good flavor, but the pumpkin was way too hard... I will probably try other dishes next time if I come back.

We had an early lunch, this was our first time here. Purple Roots did not disappoint. There is plenty of seating and there is also the option of making a reservation. You order through a kiosk and take a number to be seated. We of course lumpia which was delicious!!! I had the lechon with rice. Joseph ordered the shrimp Pancit; we both had cokes. The lechon had fantastic flavor was crispy and juicy. The ambiance was nice,I love the dedication to all things and people from the Philippines. You can tell ALOT of work went into the decor. They serve lunch and dinner and serve breakfast items all day. They do close for a few hours to reset from lunch to dinner.

Let me tell you about my flavor filled visit to Purple Roots recently. This is a Filipino gem tucked away in the Tinseltown area of Jacksonville, Florida where every single dish is made from scratch and filled with love. And believe me, you can taste it in every bite! They brought out an absolute smorgasbord from crispy golden lumpia, savory stir fried pancit, a stunning whole grilled fish, comforting bowls of traditional Filipino soup, and so much more. Each dish was a knockout with bold flavors, perfect textures, and that homemade flavor. If you're in the Jacksonville area and craving the real taste of the Philippines, do yourself a solid and get to Purple Roots. Your taste buds will thank you.

I loved the space here. The posters, the Filipino pride it's a nice blend of everything and not gaudy. The pancit was delicious but wish there was a little more meat when you order. However my favorite the lumpia with the sweet chili. A little expensive but soooo delicious. They have you order from a touchscreen which isn't bad and the server was so sweet. Everything came in quick. Overall a great experience. My wife had the lechon and it was so tender on the inside while crispy on the outside. Will definitely return here

My husband and I came here for the first time tonight. We had never tried a Filipino restaurant before and this was an incredible first experience! The restaurant has a convenient self-ordering kiosk, and is very well decorated inside but what really stood out was the service, which was absolutely phenomenal. The owner was extremely friendly, personable, and took the time to talk with us while we were placing our order. I let him know that I'm vegetarian, and he explained that almost everything on the menu can be modified. I ordered the noodle soup with tofu and vegetable lumpia. Normally the soup is made with a meat broth, but they also offer a delicious mushroom broth alternative upon request (also request no egg if you're vegan). When my food was coming out, I even overheard the owner double-checking in the kitchen to make sure my soup was prepared with the mushroom broth. That kind of attentiveness and care for dietary needs is something I truly value. The food presentation was beautiful, and everything tasted amazing. Between the thoughtful service and the delicious food, I honestly can't wait to come back and explore more of the menu!

I was craving my grandparents' Filipino cooking when I walked into Purple Roots for lunch, and it immediately felt like home. The restaurant is beautifully decorated, with walls showcasing famous Filipinos from around the world, and the service was warm and welcoming. The space was bustling with families, creating a lively and inviting atmosphere. We ordered the pancit, lumpia, and adobo, and I was blown away by the presentation. Each dish was plated beautifully, such a contrast to the way I usually scoop adobo into a bowl straight from the pot at home. The flavors struck the perfect balance between the comforting, traditional Filipino cuisine I grew up with and a thoughtful, modern twist. If you're in the Tinseltown area and missing a taste of home (or just want to try authentic Filipino flavors in a fresh, modern setting), then you should try Purple Roots!

Ordered Eggplant Torta and Bangus. The bangus had lots of flavor and not too fishy. The eggplant was a very large portion and did not disappoint. It seemed that they were a bit short staffed. But Chef Kiko stepped in to greet customers and bring out food! Always love coming here for great Filipino Food!

Restaurant was okay. Not sure if I would return. I got the chicken soup bowl, and it was not great. I'm glad I also ordered the chicken wings as an appetizer because there was very little chicken in the bowl. The "soup" also wasn't really soup or broth- it was more like a bunch of oil. The wings were pretty good, though. I ordered the halo coconut drink since it was listed in the drink section of the menu. I was expecting it to be a drink as advertised, but it came out as halo-halo ice cream as pictured. It was good, and it was my first time trying halo-halo, so there were a lot of different textures, but I liked it. Overall, I spent $40 and don't think it was worth it. However, the staff was really nice. It was a bit chaotic in there, but they were very friendly and attentive if you needed something.

    Such chill vibes. Love it!

This place is fire! So good! Definitely one of the best Filipino restaurants that I've been to. Super friendly staff that are more than happy to help you navigate through the menu and explain dishes and give suggestions. The food itself is fantastic. Very generous portion sizes and free refills of rice. I got the Pata Hamonado and it was delicious! Super tender and fall apart pork hocks that are stewed to perfection. Love the balance of sweet, savory, and spicy. The perfect dish with a giant bowl of rice. The ambiance is great as well. Very relaxing atmosphere, perfect for a chill time with friends. Keep up the awesome work! :)

Good Filipino food if you're in the area. The arroz caldo was a little ginger heavy that our friend wasn't able to finish. Their menu has a wide variety which is good, so you can try a lot of different Filipino food. They have bakery items that's seem to be sold out if you got late at night. The booth seats were a little low but you order your food at a kiosk and someone delivers it, so pick a seat that's not at a booth!! The halo halo didn't have beans. The ambiance really brings out the Filipino culture !

Update 6/22/2026:…read more Met up with a colleague for lunch and this place never fails me! The owner and staff are wonderful people working hard to bring the Hawaiian-Filipino taste to the Jax Community! Reminds me of when I visited Hawaii in the past and I just miss the islands! It was during early lunch so it was quiet at first but later saw folks coming through for lunch. My colleague never had Hawaiian food so the owner and I recommended a few dishes -- he chose the Loco Moco, Hawaiian-comfort food. I missed the garlic shrimp back then, and so luckily they had it in the menu -- Hawaiian Fried Garlic Shrimp!!! It was fantastic! The savory and super garlicky taste of those fried shrimps (yes, they had the shells still on, but that's the best part). The shells were crispy/fried enough and covered in the garlicky sauce that you can just eat it. Some folks may have other opinions, but I'm used to eating it this way in my culture as well. The fiesta rice was seasoned well and the Hawaiian Mac Salad was wonderfully semisweet and seasoned well too. Always great vibes by the decor and the owners!

The staff and owners greet you to then make sure you are taken care of. Most items on the menu ranged between $10 to $20 dollars. As of the moment, what I was truly hoping to try was outside of my price range. I ordered to go and purchased a Spam Masubi ($3.50 without tax). I will state that this appetizer may not be the best representative of this restaurant's cuisine. I would personally rate it 5.8/10 and would truly hope to try something different. I also believe the cost to meal gained ratio left me feeling this was a bit overpriced. Nevertheless, I want to return to try a different menu item as others have stated the food was enjoyable.

The cafe is more on the smaller side but it's cozy and the customer service is always happy and friendly! When you walk inside, there's a hot bar with all the food items available that day. You can check their Facebook page for their menu each day! You can get combos like an entree and a side, two entrees and a side, etc. On the shelves near the windows, there are local Filipino desserts like crinkles, puto (rice cake), flan, etc for sale. They also sell mac salad in the fridge and some dried fish on the shelves. What I love about this cafe is that they have a small snacks/drinks/candy market next to the dining area. The dining area is a good size and faces the parking lot. On this particular Saturday, we had the following entrees and sides: Lechon (roasted pig), Kaldereta (Filipino beef stew), and some rice! The lechon pieces were big and the skin (my fav!) was crispy, salty, and golden! The meat was also juicy and not dry. What I like to do is dip the meat into some white vinegar to give it some acidity since the lechon is on the heavy side after a few bites. The Kaldereta was hearty, rich, flavorful and it reminded me of an elevated beef stew. The potatoes and carrots literally melted in my mouth! I gave my combo plate a 8.5/10! My husband had Humba (braised pork belly that is slow cooked in soy sauce, vinegar, garlic, bay leaves, fermented black beans, and sugar) and he thoroughly enjoyed it. He shared some pieces of it with me and it was smooth as butter. It was sweet and salty and his rice soaked up all the sauces. Definitely a must try! I would give it a 9/10 because the flavors were so rich and it made me want even more! The prices are reasonable for how much food you're getting! They also sell desserts like halo halo (shaved iced with fresh fruits, taro ice cream, toppings like flan, condensed milk, jellies, beans, etc.) I've personally had the halo halo and it's one of my favorites! Super refreshing on a hot summer day. They also sell mango and taro flavored cakes but you have to call in advance for whole cakes. Their cakes are light, delicious, and fluffy! I especially enjoy the mango cake because you get chunks of fresh, champagne mangoes on and inside the cake. We've been coming here for years and don't plan on stopping. My husband is a bit of a Filipino food snob at times, but Lola's definitely has a special place in his heart! They do military discounts too, FYI!
