Me along with a group of race participants developed quite a hunger after a race event we've completed. We were definitely HANGRY. Thinking of where to eat, my brother and his wife suggested and highly recommended Nino's Express, a small Filipino shop just miles away. So off we went and what perfect timing because Nino's Express serves a lunchtime buffet on Saturdays. We arrived to Nino's a bit too early but thankfully, they had 4 items already set and prepared on their hot bar. This was well enough for us to get started. Again, I only tasted 4 items (Sinigang, Kare Kare, Dinuguan, Pancit Guisado)... with runner up, 5th item being Lechon Kawali (Fried Pork Belly). These items happens to be some of my favorites Filipino eats...my type of comfort foods. And for $9.25 AYCE price, I came away very impressed. Delicious, fresh tasting and authentic. Very friendly staff; they were attentive to our needs. And aside from the buffet, they also serve and make the common Filipino pastries and desserts, as well. Come and stop by. This place could definitely used some more of that L-O-V-E. Signing off with a huge BURP.... #SoStuffed #WillBeBack

Thanks Nino for all your GREAT help today!

I love Filipino local restaurants whether I am in a small or large city/town area. I am Filipino, born here in the states (never been to the Philippines but my husband is born there) and appreciate everything about the Filipino menu including desserts! My folks back home in Charleston, SC cook all these favorites of mine. I call it "Soul Food". Yeah I know I should learn to make these as my mom/dad say it over and over! Lol. Lumpia and pancit are my big main items to order first. I looked for pork/chicken kabobs but didn't see any today. Good drive from home by RaceTrack Rd but well worth it especially on a nice afternoon like it was today at 70 degrees. It wasn't too bad regarding traffic surprisingly over the bridge thinking of holiday grocery shoppers for Thanksgiving in 2 days. I did find a few things such as shrimp chips, lumpia, hopia, turon and "the pancit" (I saw from my yelp pal Jay's photos--thank you Jay!). All of it was honestly very good! The cute little restaurant wasn't crowded at all during noon time. Parking wasn't too bad, parked in and out. Friendly staff ladies and the owner Nino as well. (He even let me take his picture--lol). All genuinely very kind and helpful to their customers eating lunch. I was looking for some pork siopao (another reason for my visit today) but they didn't have any on hand. Nino did advice to order 1 to 2 days ahead and will gladly have it ready and reserve. Will do! May just order after the holiday weekend. I highly recommend this restaurant if you want to eat lunch, grab a few asian novelty snacks and purchase a few homemade desserts located by the register. It's truly the little things! Glad I came in here today!

We found our go-to lunch place when we visit Dad on Saturdays. All you can eat authentic Filipino goodness for just $9.25. Plenty of food for less $. I wish I had two bellies to fill! Lunch buffet line up: - Pinakbet - Chicken Adobo - Pork Sinigang - Dinuguan - Kare Kare - Pancit Palabok - Pancit Guisado - Lechon Kawali (crispy pork belly) - And of course, white rice Casual and friendly eatery with great service! I love to eat and with the variety of delicious food they offer, Nino's Pinoy Express gets a solid 5 stars. Note: Lunch buffet runs every Saturday. If buffet is not your thing, you can purchase a combo meal for $7.25. Big plate with white rice and your choice of two entrees. For $4.85, you get a plate of white rice and a choice of one entree. Good for peeps with small appetites :D

We came here on a Saturday for lunch and were pleasantly surprised that they offer buffet! Yey for us! For only $9.25, I get to eat all of my favorite Filipino food! We had the following: Pancit Guisado - glass noodles with veggies cooked with pork broth Pancit Palabok - also noodles but with a thick orange sauce topped with smoked fish, boiled eggs, chicharon, etc. on top Pork Dinuguan - pork (sometimes intestines) cooked in pork blood and vinegar Kare-Kare - Beef tripe and oxtail cooked in peanut sauce Lechon Kawali - crispy pork belly Pork Sinigang - pork and veggies sour soup Chicken Adobo - Chicken cooked with vinegar, soy sauce and looots of garlic Pinakbet - veggies cooked with shrimp paste All were delicious! They use more tripe than beef for the kare-Kare which I prefer! Sooo good with shrimp paste aka "bagoong" although I would've loved more veggies or bokchoy. The Lechon kawali was crispy and flavorful made even better when dipped to Mang Tomas sauce which they also provide. This is a place for those who are craving Filipino dishes and also for the adventurous lol! We will be coming back for sure!

I was craving pancit so I decided to stop by. I've been here multiple times and the food is always great and owners are very nice and helpful. I got this whole thing of pancit for just $7!

At first when I saw the restaurant I didn't have high expectations, but after tasting their food I changed my mind! They have a small store, limited seating, and a small buffet. Though the food is authentic, and has a unique variety (common favorites of the Philippines). The Halo-halo has a better price than A&D Manila Bakery, and taste great! They also sell some desserts (ice cream, Halo-halo, etc).

I'd be lying if I said I knew this place served food all along. Honestly, I didn't even know there was actually anything on this corner space of the plaza especially since they never had a storefront signage until of recently. For some reason could not find them on Yelp a few months back and Google(ew) yielded very little results. I popped in one day for lunch and this place reminded me of another Filipino joint not too far down 103rd. The biggest difference? Parking. There's a lot more available parking here. The layout is pretty similar in way, this place is maybe a bit bigger. They sell some bakery items along with a convenience store selection of ethic, mostly Filipino stuff. There's about two tables for dining in and of course the cooked foods which is what I came for. For 6.50 you get a really decent amount of food, tasty too as I finished the whole dang thing. Why the 4 stars? Lumpias are only made if you request it in advance and the selection seemed kind of scarce. They do offer a buffet on Saturdays. Will I be back? You betcha. Hopefully they start making those Lumpias on a daily basis.

This place has been a fixture in this area for years when it was Ellen's turo turo Filipino restaurant. When it comes to really great authentic Filipino food, this place, hands down, tops them all. The variety is vast and it is consistantly good. They also offer an all you can eat buffet on Saturdays. The choices constantly change daily, so call ahead to see what is in the menu for that day. You can also like their page on Facebook to monitor any daily specials. The seating is limited, so there is alot of sharing tables, which adds to the home like feel of the establishment.

Update 6/22/2026:…read more Met up with a colleague for lunch and this place never fails me! The owner and staff are wonderful people working hard to bring the Hawaiian-Filipino taste to the Jax Community! Reminds me of when I visited Hawaii in the past and I just miss the islands! It was during early lunch so it was quiet at first but later saw folks coming through for lunch. My colleague never had Hawaiian food so the owner and I recommended a few dishes -- he chose the Loco Moco, Hawaiian-comfort food. I missed the garlic shrimp back then, and so luckily they had it in the menu -- Hawaiian Fried Garlic Shrimp!!! It was fantastic! The savory and super garlicky taste of those fried shrimps (yes, they had the shells still on, but that's the best part). The shells were crispy/fried enough and covered in the garlicky sauce that you can just eat it. Some folks may have other opinions, but I'm used to eating it this way in my culture as well. The fiesta rice was seasoned well and the Hawaiian Mac Salad was wonderfully semisweet and seasoned well too. Always great vibes by the decor and the owners!

My favorite was probably the pork skewers appetizer: two smallish skewers for $5.16. I'd put it…read moreslightly ahead of the short ribs. The latter was $19.65 for the Fiesta Plate. I didn't like the sides on the Fiesta Plate that much (macaroni salad, which my wife didn't like, rice, salad), though the salad was pretty good. It also had a piece of fried chicken; I thought it was nice, my wife not so much, but neither of us thought it was up to Jollibee (admittedly, a high standard). I had a taste of the pancit bihon, which was more strongly flavored than any I've had before, and not a favorite. Servings are smallish, so I don't think that Fiesta Plate is a good value. They close too early at night: 8 PM on a Friday. The setting is simple. Some of the seating looked uncomfortable, e.g. a bench or tables along the wall with wood at your back. We got a table with four plastic chairs, however, which was comfortable. Our server was very nice and friendly, though she had more work than she could handle without issues. They add 3.5% (reflected in the prices above), for using credit cards. With a soda ($3.36 for a can) and tip, the total for two shared courses came to $35.

The first two were large events, while the Christmas dinner was more intimate, and the space worked perfectly for all of them. The staff was incredibly friendly and welcoming, which really adds to the experience. As a Filipino, I loved that there was room for line dancing and, of course, karaoke! Always a must! The food was very good overall, but my favorite dish is the tofu sisig. It's bold and savory, I could not stop eating! I tried it for the first time here and haven't found another version I like as much anywhere else. The larger parties were served buffet style, otherwise we had the dishes family style. Perfect opportunity to try different entrees by sharing with the table. Whether you're looking for a large space for a party or a cozy spot for dinner, Maharlika is a great choice.
