The food was good put portions are small for the price. the biggest issue i have with the place is the 10% service charge they add t your bill. The place is a delicatessen with tables outside. I told the owner that charging a 10% service charge was wrong. He responded by saying that they provide and service such as bringing our food out to us (hands me my food wrapped in paper), sweeping the floor...it is not the customer's responsibility to cover part of the employee's salary and it is not a restaurant with waiter and waitresses. If the owner thinks his prices are to low then he should raise his prices not add an additional service charge to the bill. Won't be back for that reason. read more

A great find! We had spent the morning and early afternoon in Franconia Notch/Cannon Mountain and were looking for a quick (but tasty) bite before heading back to Concord. They have so many options; my partner and I both ended up getting the cucumber and hummus sandwich, but I got mine as a wrap and added some honey mustard to it (why not?). You order from the window and pay inside the store; they have a good amount of tables outside. Inside is an adorable organic market with a huge variety. We just got a couple bags of chips and a drink. It didn't take too long for our food to be ready, and they have a staff member walk your food to your table. The one location was larger with seating but the other location had the prepared foods. We ordered meals to go (sandwiches .. lobster roll.. etc). This is the store you go to when you can't find something at the local market. I picked up a variety of special chips and snacks. The Purple Tomato is a cute little mini market that offers unique sandwiches, prepared behind-the-counter food (needs visible labels and prices), hard-to-find ingredients and a plethora of snacks. It's located in a plaza with parking big lot and other stores to shop around. This is one of the spots I have to stop by for goodies when we're hitting the road, on our way back home. Beef Jerky- I forgot the name of the jerky I got but it was sweet chili flavor and definitely wasn't a common brand. I try to rummage for beef jerky from shops like these everywhere I go. Wow! After a hike yesterday, I decided to head home via the Kanc. I was lured by a roadside sign, promising lobster rolls. What? The masked Purple Tomato peeps took my order, my $, and delivered my food to my car window with nary a molecule passing between them and me. That's the way it's done! A few doors down you have access to wine tastings and as a collector of pottery, the wine shop also sells a local artisan's work - Tom's Thumb pottery. A lesson that most businesses know is that one bad interaction can turn off a customer for life. We shop here regularly (no more!). A friend of ours--who went to the place because we recommended it --bought us some items there that we did not want (see photo): a candy bar, a jar of mustard, and a bottle of vinegar. All were clearly unopened. The vinegar had a seal on it. We asked to return for a store credit, so we could buy some stuff (our plan was to buy a couple of bottles of wine--which would have cost us way more than the return. And the margin on wine is good). The owner told us "it's food items, no returns". She noted there was a food pantry where we could donate the food next week. We were on our way home to Boston--NOT a helpful suggestion. She was not friendly, not apologetic, just apparently worried about being out some cash. We would have been happy with any store credit. We won't be back. And we won't send our friends there any more either. The food is fun and generally good sandwiches. My husband and I came to this city for our honeymoon trip and stayed at Lincoln for 3 days. We found this little gem on yelp and we have been going there 3 days in a row. It was delicious and it has a good amount of meat which provided a lot of energy for our hiking. The second day we had a lobster roll and it was the best lobster rolls I've had.
