I wish I could've stayed around here for longer! I was looking for a quick lunch, and when there's nothing much around, places like The Purple Tomato really stand out. I did a yelp search for Sandwiches, which led me here because of their lobster roll. Sidenote, I'm from NC. We have seafood, and pretty decent seafood, but we're still not as close to the coast as here. So I take what I can get. I find the place in the end of a strip mall that I never would've visited otherwise, and step on in. Inside is a super cute bodega/farmers market with wonderful looking product, local treats, and a kitchen. It's small, but there's a lot to choose from! I was basic and ordered the lobster roll, which was about $14 (I think that's reasonable?). It arrived, and although it looked small, it was STUFFED with meat, and the bread was toasted well. All good for me! I wish I had more time to explore the menu and maybe get a few other things, but from my one experience, Purple Tomato was excellent and I would absolutely recommend it! read more

They even have lobster (must try) and jambalaya. Grab some drinks and some chips as well for a nice to-go meal. My family and I were starting a day of sightseeing and hiking by the Kancamagus Highway, and this healthy meal gave us plenty of energy to literally scale a mountain. Just had the meatloaf, mashed potatoes, and key lime pie last night to take home for dinner after an awesome day of skiing! Everything was amazing! Just had a very delicious lobster roll with fresh (not fishy) lobster meat and plenty of it with just a little mayo in a roll. The mayo and roll were organic. They typically add butter to the roll but left it off for me since I'm dairy-free. It was the best roll I'd had in a long while (including rolls in Boston!) We were very impressed the The Purple Tomato Farmers Market. We stopped in to grab some sandwiches and really loved everything we tried. The lobster rolls, were supposed to be hot but were actually quite cold. They still were very good once we warmed them up. The sandwiches are actually pre-made for the day, but were surprisingly really very good. The smoked turkey and cheese was the best,, so good we wanted to go back for another one and just never got around to it. The fresh locally baked bread is sliced thin and the smoked turkey was piled high and so delicious, you just could imagine it was sliced fresh off a locally smoked turkey breast and far from any packaged lunch meat. The quinoa salad was nice and tasty and the burritos were substantial. We also picked up a few items in the store to take back home. Most memorable (for my dog at least) was the peanut butter baked doggie biscuit. The fresh product was also impressive, particularly the tomatoes were fresh and beautiful. The desserts in the dessert case looked so mouth watering we just had to get one. The carrot cake was so decadent, soft, moist and just perfectly frosted with cream cheese that was definitely the real thing. read more

These guys have been around a while, but we only just started going here for lunch/snacks/locally farmed grocery items. I'm not sure why we never really came here, but that error has been corrected in glorious sandwhichy fashion. The wife and I have had just about every sandwhich on their menu and they are all fantastic. Particular shout outs to the pulled pork (made on site!) and anything with their coleslaw in it. If you expect to get out of here with just sandwiches, you're in for a shock. They have a ton of great snacks that will trap you on the way to the register, including fresh baked cookies if the occasion struck the owners to make them. Might be the best sandwhich shop in Lincoln, though I am prone to hyperbole when it comes to sandwhich artistry. read more

We had to try their lobster rolls after they were voted the "Viewer's Choice #1 lobster roll in NH" We wanted these for dinner, a few hours after they closed on a Sunday, so they prepare for us Lobster Roll kits. All he had to do is toast the buns and they were perfect. Absolutely delicious. Our friends who joined us for dinner are true lobster roll connoisseurs. They agreed that these were the best! The meat was sweet and juicy with the perfect balance of meat to mayo. This unpretentious place is in a small strip mall in Lincoln. Who would have thought? This is a small, independently owned indoor farmer's market/specialty store specializing in organic, gluten free, and vegetarian products. A smaller Trader Joe's if you will, in the tiny town of Lincoln, NH. They had a large amount of the organic Trader Joe's style products, grass fed meats and local produce and baked goods. They offer soups and sandwiches as well. The owners were nice enough to open the door even though we wandered to it 30 minutes after they had already closed and were absolutely hospitable. We had been here in December - we needed to check into our condo and a quick dinner before our "Journey to the North Pole" at the Hobo Railroad. On our way to Franconia Notch we stopped here for sandwiches. They had a great menu of sandwiches any of which could be made as a salad. I had the ABC - Avocado, cheese and bacon. It was delicious!
