The wait is crazy, so come early. The place is really cute and has a small gift shop upon entry. The pancakes were good and so was the rest of the food! The waitress we had was amazing! My son refused to believe if we arrive after 8 there would be a wait- we arrived at 8:20 and sure enough, had to wait another 1/2 hour. Although leaves are disappointing this year, tourists continue to arrive and word is out on this iconic establish. The food is delicious with abundant options. Personally I love both their pancakes and grilled biscuits. Their omelettes are packed with either veggies or meat- enough fuel for the day. Quintessential New England breakfast/lunch dining. Overall, a very cute small place to go. I would suggest going earlier in the morning to avoid a longer wait, otherwise it'll be an hour +. Prices are fairly decent, and the food was equally as good. If you're looking for a fancy spot though, then this isn't the place for you. Nostalgic paper plates and plastic cutlery will be what's used. It's a fast paced but enjoy yourself type of feel. Benton's was such an amazing experience and I am so glad we got to try it out after planning out a trip to New Hampshire. First of all, the decor is very cute and cozy and we felt very welcome there. Our server's name was Christina is she was absolutely flawless. She was the only one working and was on it. She even helped out our kiddos and was so good with them. She deserves the highest praise. The food was fantastic! I loved the maple beans so much and the pancakes were TOP TIER. Shockingly I loved the coconut pancakes the most after being skeptical about them. Yum! I love breakfast in Benton's was wonderful. Our server was great- I believe her name was Christina, our order came out correct and fast. And the rustic decor really made the place feel cozy. We started with a little breakfast appetizer with the maple, glazed cinnamon bun, and it was incredible, don't pass this up if it's on the menu ! The rest of my family really enjoyed everything they ordered, if we are ever in the area, we will be coming back for sure. We went here for breakfast on the recommendation of a friend on the way to a hike. We arrived around 9:30am on a Saturday morning and only had to wait about 5 min. There is a bench inside the door in small gift shop area. Imagine our surprise when we left about an hour later and there were dozens of people waiting outside! There are multiple parking lots available. What a spread for breakfast. I got the Shack Stack and my husband had the Sugar Maker. We both got berries in our pancake, so good. Hash browns come with or without onions (which were delicious!) The portions were enormous and amazing! I made a valiant attempt but could not finish it all. I took some French toast and ham to go and ate as a snack while hiking. (I usually get wheat toast but in hindsight might have enjoyed white better for French toast.) The salt and "peppa" shakers were adorable mini maple syrup bottles. I was surprised that everything was disposable (cups, plates, silverware). I understand this makes for easy cleanup but was a little disappointed in the environmental aspect. Otherwise, everything else was great - service was fast and friendly. You can get some syrup or jam from the gift shop to bring a taste home with you. Just make sure to get there early. :) read more

It was in our weekend ladies getaway plan to visit on Saturday (11/2/24) and on Friday WMUR announced their results of the best pancakes in NH and Benton's was #1! So it was packed. The Shack is somewhat small with a very limited waiting area. But there is a quaint little gift shop we were able to peruse while waiting. We all got pancakes and nice thick, meaty bacon. There is a cute shop in front with local goods and Benton's syrup for sale. We learned about this restaurant from a store owner in Littleton, I was looking for a particular grade of maple syrup and he mentioned Benton's. Sadly they didn't have the pint available but did have a half pint. I cannot wait to try it! The syrup grade on the table was DELISH! And they kindly warm it up for breakfast. Ahhhh breakfast, for 40 yrs we have gone to the same restaurant. We now have found a new go to when we come up North for our family vacation. All 5 of us agreed on that. The shop and restaurant are so cool and are decorated with the old farm tooling pieces. Awesome! Pancakes were light & fluffy and LARGE. Love love LOVED this place! My boyfriend and I came for breakfast on a busy Saturday and found we were able to get a table fairly quickly (maybe a 10 minute wait?). We sat outside, and had a lovely Saturday morning breakfast, complete with visitors (a crane hanging around the pond in the back, and a hummingbird that flew over my partners head!). The food was EXCELLENT, tasty homemade breakfast potatoes, SO MANY options for pancakes and French toast, and their house made maple syrup is some of the best I've had! They had live music for brunch which I thought was a nice touch too. And don't forget to hit up the gift shop on your way out, I scored some yummy jams, silly beans, and maple syrup. Interior of the dining room is classic New Hampshire rustic barn variety. An authentic and unique experience with historic memorabilia that no chain store restaurants like Cracker Barrel can touch. Pancakes are what you would expect to find in a place like this: fluffy and thick, and offered in a variety of different flavors and fillings. While not the best form of the genre, they know their role as only an accessory to the main act; maple syrup, as you would expected at place like this is tasty and fresh. Coffee is of the usual diner-class over-roasted variety. Additionally, a wide variety of healthy-portioned omelets, customizable to your preference can be substituted for those less interested in popping belt buckles and falling into a Sleep Beauty Sugar Coma when they get home. However, for a place that's evolved through such a rich family striping tradition, why no actual maple sugaring tours? Seeing all the fun happening through the glass, is like taking a 4 year old to a candy store, but asking them not to touch anything. If you grew up in NH taking a maple tour is a virtual rite of passage. Sort of like a bar/bat mitzvah for every NH child, except that instead of heralding the onset of pre-pubescent acne, your tour's a glimpse into a life of metabolic syndrome and type two diabetes because it takes how many gallons of sap to make that one pint of syrup? Yet perhaps more contradictory to the culinary ambiance is Benton's continued standardization on paper cups/plates and plastic utensils barely strong enough to spread a slice of butter. Hire a dishwasher, up the game, and save the planet. Sticking to disposable everything makes the entire experience of eating here feel far cheaper than it should. This is particularly true given the huge volume of business this place does over weekends and holidays, where every table is filled and there's a line of predators at the door hungrily scanning the space for innocent victims and open tables. For these reasons, Benton's a bit like the friend that has been going on more dates than the Bachelorette, confused about why she can't meet a guy, while refusing to give up the fanny pack she takes on every date because, after all, purses are so 80s, fanny's hold more, and the 90s were the best decade by far that people just need to see more of to truly accept. We got a pancake flight and I added eggs for myself. Pancakes were pretty bland to my friend and I. Other than the toppings they didn't have much flavor- the maple syrup saved them. Without warning us, they charged an extra $1 for onions on the "hash browns" (flavorless breakfast potatoes) and $5 for a single very berry pancake as part of a combo meal that was only priced $10 to begin with.
