Found the Purple Tree Truck at the Rillito Wash Farmers Market. I've seen the truck in several different locations but didn't have an opportunity to try it out until this visit. I ordered a small Acai Bowl which cost $5. I thought was fair however, when it came out it fit in a very small plastic cup. It was the size of a cup you'd see at an art gallery that gives out free wine. I felt that the $5 I paid wasn't equal to the size of food I received. The bowl was delicious and fresh though, hence why I gave it four out of five stars.I'll likely go for the large size next time I try out the Purple Tree Truck to hopefully get more for my money. read more

I was completely depleted and needed something nourishing and healthful and like an answer to low-blood sugar prayer, there they were! There's a generous amount of granola and it's crunchy! However, compared to other açaí bowls around Tucson, there isn't as much fruit, especially for the price. If you pay with card, there's a small fee. A large açaí is $8.25 (including the fee). For the same price, you get more value (more toppings) at other places like Pure Love Juice and Berry Devine. I had been wanting to try this place every time I saw it at the heirlooms farmers market at Rillito Park on Sunday's. I finally got to try it on A Sunday when we stopped for a pit stop from riding out bikes on the river walk to check out the farmers market. Yaaaaaaasssssss! FINALLY I can get my acai bowl groove on in Tucson! About. Darn. Time. I was craving an Acai bowl and desperately needed my fix so I went on the hunt and found this truck parked by Main Gate Square (University and Park) - right around lunchtime on Monday. The bright purple truck is hard to miss! (There is plenty of parking there so you can grab food quick, if you're on the run!) Andre (the owner) was kind and patient as I read through the menu to decide what I wanted; he asked me many thoughtful questions before making recommendations for ways to personalize my acai bowl. I ordered the small Acai bowl, (acai with organic granola, strawberry, banana, coconut shavings, honey and Hemp seed. There were many other add-ins available - including cacao, hemp seed, bee pollen, peanut butter, mango and chia seeds, but I kept it simple for the first time. Once ordered, It took less than five minutes to make, and was worth every minute of the wait - this was the best acai bowl I've ever had. The acai was deep purple and finely mixed with other berries to create a deliciously smooth treat. The granola was fresh and layered perfectly so that it didn't get soggy. The fruit on top was fresh and beautifully arranged. I was very impressed! It truly was a beautiful bowl to behold - I can tell that Andre takes pride in his work! I ordered the small ($5.50), and actually, I found that to be a perfect size for me - but, if you're looking for a serious meal, perhaps the large would be more appropriate ($7.50). Also, for my future orders (which will most certainly be happening!) I will probably ask for a little less honey as I found it made the bowl a little too sweet for my taste. This is a great business; I will definitely visit this truck in the future.... you should, too! Be warned though: if you goto the Facebook page for this business to locate where the food truck is, it will not give accurate directions/instructions! My favorite thing about this truck, aside from the fact that it provides healthier whole-food options, is that they know who they are catering to. I have most definitely seen this truck outside of Tumomoc upon occasion. This amusing observation aside, they parked outside of work and promised something the walk to QT couldn't: real food. The acai bowl provided to the customer in front of me looked absolutely beautiful. Not wanting to pay as much when I had my own food back at the office, I settled on a smoothie. I subbed out the coconut milk for almond and happily welcomed the beverage after feeling my face melt in the June sunlight. The wait for your food is a bit disheartening, but fully justified when you realize the amount of time and effort the truck's hand-crafted food takes. I am not sure why this has so many stars... Here is what I know :) Great stuff: everything is clearly made fresh and it is organic which is a plus in today's world. The iced coffee was pretty yummy and so was the acai bowl. The people working in the truck were super nice. Needs Improvement: we had to change our order 2 times because they were out of items (I totally get busy days but it was only 2:30 and being out of 2 items shuts down a good part of your menu which stunk). As yummy as the food items were they were tiny. The acai bowl was $6 and the bowl wasnt even filled up half way with the acai part of the bowl which I find to be a rip because thats the part I am really paying for. The iced coffee was great too but the tiny cup it came in was not worth it. I know that this is a small business I dont like giving so so reviews for small businesses but I really think it could be better for the prices. read more

Acai bowls are becoming more available in Tucson! It took me a while to finally get around to trying this food truck, mostly because I could not catch it when it was on campus. However, when I finally was able to make it to the truck, I was not disappointed. I had an acai bowl and it was freshly made with fresh fruit! I enjoyed it, it was not too sweet and the granola to fruit ratio was on point. I would have hoped the small would have been a tiny bit bigger, but overall it was well worth the wait to have finally been able to try the Purple Tree food truck.
