Update: The owner did sincerely apologize after I sent her a photo of my thumb infected with pus underneath. I would have loved a sincere apology from Ellen but at least the owner seemed apologetic for my horrific experience. I will not be returning because I am not risking getting my cuticles cut and infected a third time. I hope they will learn from this and be more careful in the sensitive parts of a client's nails. ------------ Unfortunately I did not want to write this review but after receiving such a nonchalant response from the owner and nail artist themselves, I feel like it is my responsibility to write an honest review about my experience here. I had such a wonderful experience getting my nails done in Korea so I wanted to look up a place that offered Korean style nails. I found purrple nails which was conveniently located near me with a staff filled of Korean artists. My first experience was with Soo and she did fine I guess. I like that she was detailed about her design but she did cut my cuticle once and was very rough with drilling. For those who don't know, drilling gets hot and the artist should know to lift it every few seconds to not burn the person's skin. Because I liked the design so much, I made a second appointment to give another artist a try. This second appointment was with Ellen. She was sooo rough when it came down to removing the polish and cleaning and cutting the cuticles. One of my cuticles started bleeding a lot and she just used the dust to stop the bleeding but did not apologize once. I let it go. But after getting home, I noticed my cuticles and fingers were so tender and red. I decided to let time heal but it's been a week and my right thumb is still swollen and tender. It's painful to touch. I told the owner and Ellen and after some back and forth, they finally did apologize. However it left kind of a sour taste in my mouth because it just seemed like they brushed it off thinking 10 percent off the next appointment would really make up for the pain I'm having in my finger. Not sure if I will come back. The owner asked me to try another artist but how do I prevent this from happening a third time? read more

Horrible. Zero star. Made an appt and told them what I want done. My appt time was ~1.5 hours before they close. I was excited and drove 1/2 hour to try Korean nail salon. Prep for gel plus 1 extension took more than 2 hours then after the prep, they filed my nails down. They filed it so short and was unattentive that they filed off my skin and it started to bleed. It took longer than expected and I had to leave and was to return the next day. Thankfully I left because my filed down skin continued to bleed for an hour or more after. Gel and design took another ~2 hours. Total time almost 4 hours (+ 2 hours of driving time). Price was almost double other places I go to. Then less then 10 days after, the entire gel came off for one nail...next day, another...and next day a couple more. At least it came off neatly rather than chipped. At this point, I easily peeled off the rest. I messaged them and they offered to give me a free redo. Thank you but no thank you. I am not about to waste another 4+ hours and spend gas money all to risk getting an infection. Please hire properly trained and certified nail techs. Because other reviews have mentioned nail tech cutting down cuticles to the point of bleeding and nails chipping or coming off. read more

I'm not writing this in hopes of receiving compensation. I simply hope the owner sees this. Yesterday, I came in for a manicure and pedicure. While my cuticles were being trimmed, I was cut and started bleeding multiple times--about four times, not just once or twice. I understand that mistakes can happen, but what upset me most was that the technician never apologized and simply continued with the service. That was very disappointing. If it had been their own hand, would they have treated it the same way? While receiving the pedicure, I also noticed that other salons usually include callus removal as part of the service. Is that something that is charged separately here, or was it simply forgotten? In addition, having the manicure and pedicure done simultaneously made the entire experience very uncomfortable because of the awkward position I had to sit in. When I got home, I also noticed that the design on my big toenail was crooked. Overall, I am very disappointed with my experience. I absolutely loved it here. I like the look of korean nails and was able to find Purrple nails, less than 5 minutes from my house!! My nail tech, Sue, was so gentle and kind, and took her time with my nails. I really recommend her!! I couldn't feel the nail drill or the cuticle cutters at all. She made my nails look exactly like the inspo pic, with some minor things I wanted to change from the original design. She executed everything perfectly. Also, if you're an introvert and shy like me, this place is perfect. You can just watch something on your phone while they do your nails. You don't have to talk, which is honestly so nice. The business itself is very clean and well decorated. The price is fair as well. I got gel x extensions with nail art, and it came out to $170 before tip. I go here everytime I am about to go on a trip!! The nails survive everything. I go to Ellen each time and her ability to shape the nail so cleanly is amazing and she always checks in to make sure it's what you want when filing. These pictures were taken on 2 separate trips and these nails lasted the whole 2 weeks and more afterwards. My first time going I just had inspo pics but it's was all over the place, she's able to help you focus on what will look good together and give other suggestions- that's how the pink nails came about. The second time I went, I had no idea what I wanted and Ellen showed me what was new in the store and she showed me the gray cat eye. I was obsessed when it was done. I couldn't stop admiring them and just watch them sparkle in the sunlight. Ellen also recommended the little bow charm for the thumb and my ring finger on the other hand and it really pulled everything together. I wish I took pictures of my whole hands to show you guys how good they both turned out! The inside of the shop is very cute. They display many colors so there is no lack of options. The service was great but I wouldn't go back because my nails chipped after one week.

The design I asked for came out much prettier than the sample picture I showed them, however I'm removing stars off of the review because of a few things. My nail shapes were so uneven, some of my nails had bubbles, and a few of my cuticles were bleeding after the appointment. Also my nails started lifting the same week I got them done. I just think the results were disappointing for my first time getting my nails done and for how much I paid for them. I wasn't going to write a review since the person who manages their Instagram replied to my concern and offered a 15% refund which was kind, but nothing compared to the level of frustration with this gel manicure. My original concern was my thumb which completely peeled off TWICE because the gel didn't cure but the same thing happened to ANOTHER finger today and I'm just trying to be careful so it doesn't peel off but it's inevitable. I've been getting gel nails for over 10+ years and have never had my nail NOT cure, not only once but TWICE to the same nail in 1.5 weeks and then have ANOTHER finger start peeling as well. I got my nails done on 12/3 then on 12/10 my thumb peeled off because it didn't cure and it was extremely wet underneath. Their next available appointment was 12/15 to fix my thumb so for 5 days I had no polish on my nail then on 12/19 the SAME thumb nail peeled off AGAIN. Then today, my index finger started to do the same thing! I had recommended this place to two of my girlfriends but had to tell them to cancel because the quality of gel they're using is the worst I've ever experienced. This experience was such a waste of money especially since I had to drive 40+ minutes to get my nail fixed the first time for it to just happen again and have an unpainted nail for 5 days due to their availability. read more

Purple nails has been my go-to nail place since the beginning of this year and I was introduced to this place by a friend who has been a customer here for months. The nails I got done today is absolutely beautiful. However, after my experience today at Purrple Waxing & Nails today, I am no longer a customer here. The lady who did my nails sitting at the first table did my nails and charged me $95 for a regular gel base with only two different kinds of gemstone. The heart design she placed on my middle finger is also crooked and the heart was not even cut right. When I asked her at the counter during my payment why it would be $95, she said regular gel base is $50 and this design itself is $45. Then when I told her this is way too expensive, that I got my other nail done for $60 (actually it was $65 + $5 tip.), which had 3 different types of gemstones, she replied the price has "risen" from last time. Unbelievable! This is not even a gel extension. A regular gel base especially with only two types of gemstone should not cost $95! And my last visit here was June 2023, which is this year, which is not even long ago! I am so disappointed of my experience here and I felt like I was taken advantage of because I am young and am a student. I would not like to recommend this place to the peers of my own age. I would give it a 1 star if I wanted to. However, because I have once trusted this business and did remember I had a good experience here at my first visit (especially with the nail tech in the middle), I am giving 3 stars. read more

Got a simple gel manicure. She clipped my cuticles twice while talking on the phone and overall was really abrasive when filing my nails that my skin hurt on the side of my nails. Wanted to enjoy the experience but I felt stressed the whole time because my skin was stinging from the cuts. She wasn't more careful even after clipping me. Too rough for me. I've been getting my nails done here for the past couple of months and dare I say I can never go anywhere else. Mandy is the best. She has never not been able to execute designs that I've asked for and takes my opinions into consideration asking if the designs came out the right way and if the color looks good in between. The previous nail salons I used to visit would have my nail designs chip or rip off after 2~3 weeks but with Mandy it stays on until my next visit (usually 3~4 week intervals). Oh, my, GOD! This was my first visit here as well as my first waxing. I got a Brazilian (full frontal and butt strip) Hanna waxed while keeping friendly professional conversation with me. She explained what to expect and what she was about to do before applying any wax, which made me less nervous than I felt originally walking in. The atmosphere was pleasant, calming, super clean and had music playing softly in the background so even if there wasn't any conversation it wouldn't be total silence.
