The workout was called "West Hollywood" - 27 stations, full-body - and it absolutely kicked our butts. I'm not the fittest person and definitely have a lot to work on, so I felt gassed out pretty quickly, especially during the core exercises. It was way different from what I'm used to at Orangetheory, which I've been doing for a couple of months now, and definitely more intense in its own way. Coaches Michelle and Rudy were awesome - they really made sure we didn't feel overwhelmed and were super encouraging. They kept the energy high and took the time to help us get through each station without feeling too lost. It was tough and challenging, no doubt, and I can see why people get hooked - it feels like you're pushing yourself in a way that makes you leave everything out on the floor. There's a reason Mark Wahlberg is a promoter of F45; you leave feeling like you're ready to fight your way through an action movie. If you're ready for an all-out sweat and a solid workout that pushes your limits, F45 is definitely worth a try. Just be ready to feel those core muscles the next day - I know I will!

Ive reached fitness goals that i never thought were achievable thanks in largely to coach Michelle. When I first came to class I couldn't deadlift - now I can deadlift almost 200 lbs! Coach Michelle has also helped me greatly with my nutrition, mobility, and overall self esteem. On top of all the fitness achievements, I've met some of my best friends at f45. This is largely in thanks to coach Peggy who made me feel welcome from day 1 and constantly sets up events for our members to socialize and become friends outside of their workout. Coach Peggy has a way of making you feel valued and important to the community on days you don't want to show up. I love f45 BP and can't recommend it enough!

I basically come to use the weight machines and then I use the treadmill. My only complaint in that regard is that half of the treadmills don't have the heart rate sensor working. Very frustrating. Lucky for me, I have an Apple Watch and can check that out on my own later on. My other big complaint is what they have on the tvs. Look, most of us come there to workout which is part of stress relief. I'm on the treadmill, have my music playing in my ears and then I am forced to stare at all of the tvs that have the news on the screens. For those 30 minutes or so, I DO NOT want to stare on the friggin news! It could be so much nicer if they had something relaxing and calming like a nature scene. I can't believe that most people want to look at the news right now. We see enough of it and our brains need a break. Anyway, besides those two issues, I am very happy with Planet Fitness.

The good news is that there was not one person outside the entire time we were given a tour. Ambiance - One of the smaller locations. Still has all the necessary equipment, etc. Well, almost all. But on this Saturday morning, it was NOT busy at all, so I guess this size meets the needs of this location. Service - 5 stars. Forgot the young man's name that gave us the tour, but he was very professional and personable. Price - Affordable. Owner Comment - Congrats on this location for the last 8 years...? Workouts never feel rushed, and there's a strong emphasis on doing movements correctly and improving steadily at your own pace. I also love that people of all fitness levels are welcome here. Whether you're new to working out or more experienced, the environment feels comfortable and encouraging. Mike's ability to pay individual care to every person elevates the whole experience. The programming is really well thought out too, with routines changing every 4 weeks so things never get stale. Great atmosphere, great people, and just an overall great community. And whenever Rex, the actual owner of the gym shows up, its a blast

A PT suggested I do strength training (nothing was really wrong, I was just weak), but I was worried about hurting my back further by doing things wrong. So I looked for a place with instruction and coaching, and found FIIT60. Mike has been such an incredible help! The first few months I needed a LOT of guidance and suggestions, but he was always there to correct my form an explain things clearly so I wouldn't hurt myself. Starting as a complete beginner was really daunting, but over time things became easier and I not only did I feel stronger, but my back hurt less, and I had more energy in general. I started attending more classes and after nearly a year I felt completely different from before. I'm still improving and learning because Mike knows how to increase the difficulty and make modifications for people of different skill levels. I've got long terms goals I want to hit, and I feel like I'm moving toward them! The mood in the classes is great too, in addition to the health benefits (which are many!), it's just a nice expereince and I look forward to going to class. Everyone there is really supportive and friendly, and Mike maintains an upbeat and positive environment. It's a very family friendly place too, you will spot the occasional kid chilling in the corner or even a baby in their stroller. I cannot recommend this place enough! If you're a beginner like I am then you're in good hands. And if you have more expereince, then there's plenty of room to grow here.

Anyway, there are three key things for me when it comes to a gym. First is cleanliness, second is shower facilities, third is equipment. AVAC is a relatively small gym and I tend to go at off hours. This means not many people, so thankfully it's very clean inside. If you think about a 24 Hour Fitness or similar, they have hundreds of people constantly working out, there's no way to uphold hygiene standards. AVAC, despite being small, has frequent cleanings happening, which is nice. The showers at AVAC are... okay. On the plus side, they provide towels, which is a dealbreaker for me. Who wants to bring their own towel to a gym? So that's a big convenience factor. The towels have been bleached and washed to the point they are marginally more absorbent than copy paper and quite rough, but I guess a towel is a towel. The showers themselves are workable but not ideal. Communal in nature, which I personally find awkward, but going at off hours at least allows me to have them to myself or only 1-2 others at most. If it was packed I'd probably wait, it's just too weird. The shampoo and body wash are not very high quality, kind of reminds me of what you'd get at a cheap motel. But again, at least it's there. I also don't want to cart my own soap around. For the gym's size, the equipment variety and quantity is good. I've never not been able to get a treadmill, I've always been able to get the free weights I want, and there are usually benches available. The only thing in short supplies are squat racks, of which there are two, and space for deadlifts, which is basically also two. I would say the gym's clientele leans towards... not people doing those types of exercise. So I haven't typically had to wait, but again I also don't go at peak hours. There are also tons of machines, if you're the type of person who thinks isolation exercises are good. Better than nothing I suppose, but that's just me. AVAC offers a lot of free classes, of which I've taken none. They also have a snack bar, which I've never used. There's also a pool (not the swim school pool which is like 2.5' high) and a kiddie pool outside, neither of which I've been in. And there are tennis courts and pickleball and some outdoor fitness area, which, you guessed it, I have never been to. I wouldn't say AVAC is a destination gym the way Bay Clubs are, but if you're closeby it's probably the best one around. They also have plenty of parking in back in two lots.
