Levee Pond Park - A beautiful day to stroll around the pond at Levee Pond Park!

For a small little park, this place isn't too bad. It's a paved trail only about half a mile around, with a nice large pond in the middle. There's ducks and other types of birds here - I noticed quite a few people were here to birdwatch, specifically. Also saw a few people biking and running the loop as well. There's benches around the loop as well as quite a few trashcans. The park itself seemed pretty clean. There's also a cute dock area where you can look out over the pond. On clear days you also get a pretty decent view of Mt. Rainier here, too. My kids are three and one so this loop was a solid spot for us to walk. We did it twice and they were able to watch all the birds, check out different flowers, and loved running around in the grass. We'll return!

The area isn't entirely safe looking as there are derelict vehicles that are burned out and people living I'm campers. Not sure why but half the time that's the environment I come into when going to a lot of parks that I have on my list to explore. I guess it's because I've been to most of the nice ones already and it's luck of the draw. Getting to the park isn't exactly an easy feat either as we had to deal with heavy traffic congestion off of the major roads going into Puyallup which partly responsible is just poor road planning in the area as well. Signage for the park isn't great as you can see a sign for the first turn but could miss which turn to make after that if you come from the West. Coming from the East the signage is a bit better . Once you do get here and get your car secure the walk is actually pleasant as you stroll around the pond. Previous reviews have left pictures of heron sightings but we didn't spot any of those but saw quite a few ducklings which were adorable! The community garden is on the far end of the pond and it looked sizeable but not quite enough to go over and observe it thoroughly. Overall a nice park jaunt. Not many park amenities here and if you feel safe enough to be out and can deal with the poorly managed traffic it is a fairly peaceful place to hang out at.

It's a wonderful community destination because it's easy to reach, and both the park and lake are generally kept clean, attractive, and well maintained. Like many popular recreation areas, the lake can become quite busy on warm days and weekends, and occasionally some litter is left behind. What I appreciate is that by the next morning the area is often cleaned up again thanks to the hard work of park staff and community members who help keep the park looking its best. One of my favorite things about Steel Lake is that it is stocked with trout once or twice each year, providing great fishing opportunities throughout much of the season. Visitors come here to fish, swim, kayak, paddleboard, and enjoy boating, with only battery-powered motors permitted on the lake. Overall, Steel Lake is a fantastic local resource that offers something for everyone and remains one of the best places in the area to spend a relaxing day outdoors.

So much to do and so much fun activities for the kids!!…read more They fixed the playground so there were additional games the kids can do. The best part is you can visit their website and you can check if the water is okay for the kids to play with . There's usually an update regarding if you can swim and such. The only thing I'm worried about is when there is no one there to facilitate the other kids swimming, because I noticed there were lots of kids who goes there without their parents or guardians. The cops do come around for their rounds sometimes, but not all the time . I always have my eyes on my kids because there were sooooooo many people and soo many kids during school break holidays and I can't even imagine summer break. If you want to entertain your kids for hours bring them here and just have a picnic and enjoy the sand with the kids. Don't forget the shovel and bucket though lol.
