I decided to wait in the lobby area until someone showed up but no staff member did. One of the class members eventually told me that I could grab an available bench and I did. It had been a while since I did strength training so it would have been nice to speak with someone prior to jumping into the class. Overall, I did enjoy the workout and it was challenging for me.

Mind you, it has been in the upper 90's outside and this makes it very difficult to workout with no or little a/c. The crunch machine has been broken for over 3 months now. The women's locker room is gross. Toilet stalls have been not working for weeks and it smells moldy and is visually dirty. I use to love working out at this gym, but recently it has really gone downhill. But the saving grace is Natalie at the front desk. She's always cheerful and helpful and greets you by name. I've been to Hollywood, DTLA, West Hollywood, Glendale, Santa Monica, and Studio City is still my favorite overall. Biggest thing is cleanliness. For how busy this place gets, it's always maintained. Towels are always stocked, locker rooms are constantly being cleaned, and I've never walked into a shower that was out of products. There's always staff in there keeping everything in check. Another huge win is Erewhon Studio City right next door. You finish your workout and immediately have a solid post-workout meal ready. Nothing beats that. There's no Earth Bar here, but honestly you don't even need it because Erewhon is better. You do have to time your workouts though. Early mornings before 8am are the best, weekends early are even better and usually empty. After 9-10am it starts getting packed, and evenings around 5-7pm are honestly tough if you're trying to get a smooth workout in. People complain about parking because the plaza gets busy, but I've never had an issue. I go early, get a great spot, and I'm out before it gets crazy. One issue I've raised multiple times is people bringing oils into the steam room. When they pour it in, the whole place smells, it sticks to your body and hair, and I've had allergic reactions from it. It happens less now, but when it does it completely ruins the steam room. Feels like something that could be controlled better. The vibe here is more low-key, which I like. People mind their business and just work out. Compared to Hollywood, which can feel more social and sometimes uncomfortable, Studio City feels way more normal and focused. Front desk and trainers are hit or miss. Some are great, some don't even acknowledge you. Trainers here mostly keep to themselves unless you hire them, while other locations feel more welcoming. Not a dealbreaker, just noticeable. Music is at a good level too--it doesn't interfere with your headphones, which I appreciate. At the end of the day, I'm here daily for a reason. If you figure out the timing, this is one of the best Equinox locations in LA.

They were offering a free class, so I signed up. Booking was simple, and even rescheduling was an easy. When I arrived, Yash greeted me with a warm smile and gave me a quick tour and overview of the place. Then Stephanie took over -- she was just as welcoming, and she walked me through how the workout works and what OrangeTheory is all about. For a first-timer, I think I did pretty well! I even had that "good sore" feeling the next day ~ the kind that makes your body say, "You should be doing this more often." They also explained the pricing. It's $30 per class if you pay as you go. The pool is heavenly but heavily chlorinated. The spa is usually filled with old men unless you get there early. If you want it to yourself you need to get there before 10am. They have a new Pilates classes that are always nearly full in the morning but there are some slots open in the afternoon and evenings. They offer weekly passes if you want to come try it out. I do recommend it.
