He was the Physician on call at Gulf Coast Hospital. He took excellent care of my husband during his stay there. We both thought he was very thorough and caring. We've been his patients ever since. Their front desk crew at this location are some of the rudest people I've ever came across in my entire life. Don't believe me you could check all the other Google reviews about how the front desk crew is condescending here and rude to their patients. I had an appointment for 9:45 AM. They confirm my appointment the day before and then when I showed up for my appointment they claimed they left a voicemail on my phone canceling my appointment. I had no voicemail on any of my phones or any missed calls from the doctors office not only did they cause a huge inconvenience for me that day, but they were rude and raised their voice at me. They said there were double booked that day and then they could not see me and there was not a single soul in their waiting room. After I left, I called the other office on college Parkway and they got me in right away that same day. Today I tried to login to look at my medical records for blood results only to find out that I've been discharged from the practice that I've been going to for all of my life. The office ladies lied to the doctor and made up a fake story about how I created a disturbance and cursed at them in the waiting room. They all ganged up on me when I was there and that's not how it went down at all. Not sure how the doctor can just take the receptionist word for it and do something like that without even hearing the other side of the story. This location also lost my blood work 3x in a row. So something seriously is wrong in this office and I would avoid them look at previous reviews on Google.

He has a warm personality plus my hubs liked him immediately because he was wearing levis under his lab coat along with sperrys. But let's move on to the important stuff. However, the office manager, Alma threatens patients to pay in advance before they are able to see Dr. Adkins. Alma knows most insurance has a lower 'allowable amount' than what they charge for an office visit. We had to call over ten times to get her to file the claim with our insurance early this year. Alma only spoke with us the first time and then refused to talk with us afterwards. I guess she got annoyed with our persistence and finally filed the claim 2 months after date of service. My husband just went back last month (June 2017) and again and Alma made the same threat. We stopped the credit card charge and called her to explain that we have 100% coverage and why the same day of service. She is not well versed with health insurance because she does not know what the difference between an HRA and HSA plans. She threaten to report us to collection agency. I told her that was inappropriate for her to say, especially since our insurance will pay 100% and the service was just today. She got emotional and I asked for Dr. Adkins to call us directly but never received a call. My husband went back in person to ask and still no call. We have his cell # but at this point if he wants to allow this cancer to exist in his practice, we will have to find another physician. Beware - and know your insurance benefits before you agree to pay upfront. There are likely many patients who are not as fluent with insurance as I and have been taking advantage of.
