I'm not one to go out of my way to write a bad review, but I found my experience with this auto…read moreshop to be particularly bad and want to make people aware of what they will potentially be dealing with. I was having problems with my battery, so I took my car here. They told me I needed a new battery. First of all, the price they wanted to charge me for the battery was significantly higher than anything I could find online, so I asked them to find a cheaper one. They did so, and I chalked that up to not being a car guy and the fact that after all, the shop does need to make money, which I understand. My understanding is that it's pretty standard for the diagnosis fee to be applied to repairs across many auto shops, and this shop advertises that right on their wall. It was one of the reasons I chose to give them my business. So when I saw the diagnostic fee not applied whatsoever to my final bill (400+ for them to change a battery), I asked them why. I got "oh I can do a $70 discount", as if they were doing me a favor. I told them that they advertise applying the diagnosis fee towards the total bill, to which they said "that is not true", and I told them it's right on their wall, which apparently the guy on the phone wasn't aware of. I ended up getting to talk to the "manager", who was pretty argumentative with me, and also tried to deny the existence of the advertisement. When I told him that I saw it with my own two eyes, he then tried to debate me on the definition of "advertising". He then said that the policy of applying the diagnostic fee towards the bill only applies for bills over either 1k or 10k (can't remember which it was). Whatever, I just wanted to be done with them at this point, so I took the $70 discount and moved on with my life. Or so I thought. I recently went to get in my car after letting it sit for a few days only for it to not start up (the original problem I took my car into this shop for). It was dead dead, couldn't even be jumped. I eventually called triple A, and they got it to start with their power jumper. I got a battery test done, and although the battery was fine, there is apparently an issue with the charging system. It sucks, but because of my original experience with this shop, I can't help but wonder if this was the issue from the start.. but obviously, I can't say so for sure, so take it with a grain of salt. I will say, the mechanics and desk workers themselves were quite friendly, but the manager was more interested in debating me than honoring what's on his own wall. Not a great experience overall.

This place had good reviews, so first I called to see what the wait was like, then drove over. The person I spoke to on the phone was pleasant. When I arrived, they asked me to scan a QR code to check in, that was neat. Although I went in for just an emissions inspection, the person who checked me in saw that my state inspection was due soon and suggested getting that done as well which I agreed to. Then I sat in the waiting area in the back and worked a bit. I wish I'd taken a picture of the waiting area before others arrived because it was so cute! It was decorated with a beach theme and there were small couches and arm chairs and games to play. I think the emissions and safety inspection took about an hour or a little more. When they finished the person who checked me out was also pleasant and chatty. He was reviewing my vehicle and what services I needed and I commented that it was much less than what my dealer recommended. He was very professional and said that the dealer might be more conservative but he believes in only getting what's necessary. I appreciated his take, and especially that he didn't feel the need to talk negatively about a competitor. I will absolutely be back to get my car serviced. It was a pleasant experience with pleasant people!

While I have noticed a lack of attention to detail here and there - like forgetting to recalibrate my tire pressure indicator after a tire rotation (a quick fix I figured out how to do on my own) - it was always small things I could overlook. HOWEVER, my most recent experience means they lost a loyal customer. I went in to have them look at my rear brake light that was out. I did my due diligence and knew it could be a brake switch issue, electrical issue, or just that the whole tail light assembly needed to be replaced (it's LED and gone are the days you can buy a cheap bulb and call it good). They assessed the issue quickly and sent me the quote, confirming the whole assembly needed to be replaced....for over $800!?! I looked closer and they were quoting me $544 for just the rear light assembly that I knew was $125-$180 if I just bought it myself. When I asked about this massive mark up they said it was the cheapest one they found as they had called the manufacturer directly and been quoted an even higher price. This is what the $64 sourcing fee they charge is for?! While I respect that businesses need to mark up a part for the sake of profit, this was beyond outrageous. As a woman, I am well aware of the potential to be taken advantage of in these situations and they definitely tried. I picked up my car and will never return to this shop for any service as I do not feel they can be trusted. I was able to source the part for $130 and, with a little help from YouTube and a screw driver, successfully replaced it myself within 30 minutes. My advice would be to find another place for your vehicle maintenance needs or take a few minutes and do your homework before signing anything they quote you. It could save you hundreds of dollars!

We took delivery on April 11. At delivery, Tesla apparently forgot to get our signatures on some documents needed for registration. They didn't tell us. We discovered it only because I appeared in person at the dealership 30 days later (May 11) for new temporary Virginia plates that DC DMV had told me I'd need. That's when Tesla finally mentioned the missing signatures. We signed at the dealership; my wife signed the rest that evening; I overnighted them back to Tesla the next day. Tesla said they would handle the registration. Sometime in the next few weeks Tesla submitted the paperwork to DC DMV. DC DMV rejected the submission and returned it. Tesla didn't tell us. I learned about it when I went back to DC DMV last week to check on the status. As of today, Tesla still hasn't told me when they submitted, why DC DMV rejected it, whether they've resubmitted, or when this will be done. My current temporary tags expire next week. The car itself is great. The dealership's title and registration process is broken, and the absence of communication is the bigger problem. Every issue in our file, we found out about because we went looking. If you're buying here: get written confirmation at delivery that every required signature was obtained, and ask for the registration submission tracking number a week later. We've now escalated to Tesla corporate and filed complaints with the Virginia Motor Vehicle Dealer Board, the DC Attorney General, and the BBB to try to get this resolved. My advice is: stay away.

And he told me his exact words "Lower and upper control arms with ball joints (driver side and passenger side) I know I said ball joints only but just get the control arms for that side too" so I ended up getting all that. Then the guy they had come out to fix it Norman Parker put everything on. And told me it was safe to drive now. But he ended up cutting my sway bar links underneath and didn't say anything about it. Then put zip ties on where my Carter pins were suppose to be. So I Told Nigel about it over the phone and he said he'll come look at it and he said if he cut my sway bar links then he'll do a full refund. He looked and said yea he did cut your sway bar links but we had to do that in order to do the job. So went back on his word and did not give me a refund. He quoted about $10k on a car that cost about $15k, for an engine swap that shouldn't have cost more than $5k, but the mechanic purposely overcharged. And left eh car disassembled, relocated it. Asked personal info, and knew I was going back and forth from NC to MD, but sent a letter of intent to sell to my old address. Nigel, the owner ignored several calls and emails regarding options to cut costs and spend less than $10k. But he assured me I could leave the car on the lot and avoid fees, as long as I worked with him. Though most previous commutation was done on the phone or email, he has no evidence that he made any attempt to call or email, but claims he sent a verified mail to the old address on file, just so he could legally claim and sell the vehicle after a given time. The crook figured if I wasn't going to spend $10k, he could gain my trust to leave the car until then, I found out he sold the car after a friend wrote an email requesting an invoice and itemized bill, for a court case. I was then for the first time informed via email, that the vehicle was sold or auctioned. This a shady, untrustworthy and crooked mechanic, who overcharged, false advertises and has been unprofessional in posting screenshots of emails he simply didn't understand and claims I asked him to lie for court. It's on his company's FB page for all to see.
