When I walked into my first appointment with Karla I was so stressed I couldn't think straight. My body was buzzing with adrenaline and felt so heavy, it was hard to fully stand up. I started seeing Karla when I had a tear in one of my knees and had tendinitis in both of my knees and really wanted to get back to my passion of running. Karla educated me on my body and how I could do some self-care in between sessions. I did notice early on that I was feeling more flexibility in my feet and that my foot was tracking differently. She worked on releasing tension in my hips which also seemed to be contributing to my knee problems. She had asked about a knee injury when I was young. I remembered when I was about 12, my leg twisted around when my ski binding would not release. She explained how fascia possibly kept me from worse damage but may have caused the tissue to tighten around my knee. After about a month, I was able to begin jogging and a month later I was training for running another Ragnar Race and from there I kept increasing the mileage I was running. I was so thrilled to be able to get back to what I love. My personal trainer also notice that my legs were more aligned and solid as I worked out. I continue to see Karla before and after races to ensure my body continues to stay in alignment. Karla added some sound therapy with tuning forks. I was telling her selling my house had presented some frustrating situations and I was looking to rent the house at this point. She told me she could work on my house through this therapy. We set up a session on a Saturday and I received a call about an hour later from a realtor with very interested tenants. I was a reluctant to rent my house but this situation is beyond what I could have hoped for with long term tenants paying a year in advance. I have been going to Karla for a couple of years now, and can personally attest to the long term difference that MFR massage makes. I have had quite a few massages with Karla, and I have to say, they're the best I've ever had, and the results have been amazing. The type of massage she does - myofascial release - was completely new to me, so I felt like my first massage was kind of unconventional. And it is, in that it's much more gentle and soft than a regular massage, but by no means does that mean it's not working! I have had a lot of injuries, so it has not been uncommon for her to be working on my shoulder, for example, and I'll feel it in my ankle, since the fascia is so connected. Karla does an amazing job of explaining everything she does, and also WHY she is doing it, which is important for me. I don't want to be wasting my money on something that isn't going to give me good results - I want to know that what I'm paying for is going to be good. I honestly cannot recommend Karla enough. She is incredibly knowledgeable, and wants nothing but to help her clients feel better and live the best lives they can.
