When I heard they were opening a Q Daddy's in Yorktown I HAD to try it out! I went on a Saturday around 12 and it was pretty busy. Drive through was full and inside had a line but they move fast! The staff were very welcoming and did not seemed phased by the amount of traffic coming in and out. The place remained clean and stocked up on everything that they had to offer. The food was very good! We wanted to try a little bit of everything. We got the mega sampler and added the two sides with two hush puppies. Brisket: Not a Texas style brisket but it was flavorful, juicy, a little fatty and had a nice glaze to it. Pulled pork: a mix between North Carolina bbq and a sweet bbq flavor (tangy and sweet) Chicken tenders: crispy, juicy and a pretty good tender ( try it with their awesome sauce, tastes like a lighter chick fila sauce) Jalapeno cheese sausage: a little greasy but flavorful Smoked chicken salad: not my favorite, it was a little sweet, I like mine more savory but my wife loved it. Mac n cheese: pretty good, definitely not velveeta, it's homemade you can tell they use a bechamel sauce. Baked beans: ok, I don't really eat baked beans but they weren't bad, a hint of cinnamon in their bbq sauce Cheesy potatoes: pretty good, not my fav thing I had but still good. Fries: standard lol Hush puppies: A1, I think they added bacon in the mix?! Yea definitely get those. Overall, it was a great experience. Best bbq on the Peninsula in my opinion. I'll definitely be back!

My husband was one of the first in the door when this location opened,so I had to try it even though it was Sat at noon. Parking was surprisingly ample with a brisk drive through business. On entry the line to order was inching along with plenty of staff to fill orders. We grabbed a table when we saw it rather than stand there with a heavy tray looking forlorn. We decided to split a sampler and try sides of cheesy potatoes and extra bacon cheese puppies. We each got a large drink and I grabbed an oversized molasses cookie. The portion was generous considering we split it and still came home with a small takeout container. There were plenty of sauces and 3 on the table. They were all sweet and I did not enjoy them at all. Will have to try something else next time. The brisket was sliced thick which is unusual. I did not try the tenders as I like mine heavily breaded but my husband likes them a lot. I think this will be a popular eatery for this area of York County. With dine in and drive through it meets varied dining needs with an easy in and out on 17.

1 quart of pulled pork for $38

I know a lot of people, including myself have been waiting for this barbecue joint to open for quite a while. My opinion is true pulled pork smoked barbecue comes plain with your choice of sauces. I went through the drive-through and ordered a quart of barbecue that was $38 and the menu did not say anything about it being sauced. Got home and found out it already has the most disgustingly sweet sauce on it. One bite is all it took to know that I would not be eating any more of it. . I like a Carolina style sauce, vinegar and peppers or a mustard sauce not pure sugar. Their barbecue is in the absolute sweetest sauce I have ever tasted. I had several people try the barbecue that I bought and each one said that it was nothing special and they would never pay $38 for a quart. I was also hoping that they had smoked turkey because I wanted to order some of that for my mother, but they don't have smoked turkey on the menu. I don't really see a reason for me to go back. I can't really comment on service as I went through the drive-through but when I asked for sauce, they could have told me there was sauce already on the barbecue and then I would've addressed that issue then.

We love Q Daddy's! They go above and beyond for their customers and even have diapers and wipes and feminine products available in the bathroom. The staff is very friendly and everything is truly homemade which I love! I haven't had anything here that I haven't liked. It's a little expensive for our personal budget but we love to come here on special occasions and think it's worth the price! Would highly recommend!

The regular sampler. They need a new recipe for mac and cheese or someone who knows how to cook it.

We have been so excited to try this new place, and we finally had the opportunity. Of course, you have to give them grace because they are brand new. As of now, they have not made a customer out of me... but I will come back in a few months to see if they have gotten better. First, they didn't have ribs. Then we wanted to try all the meats, so we got the mega sampler, but they gave us the regular sampler. Then we asked for mac and cheese as a side, and we thought they were going to bring out a new pan, but nope... the guys scraped the bottom of the pan and somehow made just enough for a small side. I was okay because we paid for the combo, which was like $6, that came with two sides and Hush Puppies, but if I had paid $3.25 for that side, I would've been upset. Furthermore, while the young lady was serving our meat, the guy serving the sides was standing there with empty containers, not being productive. He should have taken the time to wipe down the lines and refill the pans. The meat juices and food were just all over the place, while too many people were standing around. Lastly, I had to wait a while to receive my hushouppies, which makes no sense. If the combos come with hushpuppies and the idea is that most, if not all, customers will get a meal... why not just consistently drop hushpuppies before you run out?! Overall, the place was busy, and the members were nice, but they need more experience and training. I did enjoy the decor. As far as prices, one sampler/meal came to 26 dollars.

It's expensive for what you get. A main dish is about 14.95 the. To add 2 hush puppies and sides should not be 6.99 and no drink included.

Not sure how to describe the vibe- clean modern feel with a touch of cozy here and there - like the sofa when u first walk in. Pros: Cool sofa for waiting on a table or maybe cocktails? Krista was our server and she was delightful. Friendly and helpful - let us know her favorites and got our order in quickly since we couldn't take too long. Nice cocktail selection and even better range for apps and mains. Loved the ahi tuna flatbread!! Our favorite of the apps. Could have ordered for dinner and left very happy since it cost less too lol. Seared scallops were delicious- the sauce and fresh corn were amazing. Shrimp and grits had an impressive depth of flavor and the spinach and tomatoes were a unique addition. The black bass was also very good. Cons Prices on the higher side even for a fancy restaurant in Richmond. Didn't love the complimentary bread and butter: I appreciated trying to make the butter something unique- going for savory and sweet the white chocolate and herbs but the white chocolate didn't really work for us as an ingredient. Felt like the bread should've been crusty for butter like this and not the soft rolls they served. Didn't care for the pork belly appetizer. Instead of being crispy, it was just tough.

Wow, what a fun little hidden gem. This might be a place that local folks don't want you to know…read moreabout and the business sure doesn't need my help. The fact that they sell out so quickly every-single-day is a testament on their own. Everything I learned about this place was hear-say so take it with a grain of salt but their food does speak for itself (which I did in fact get a chance to try). First of all, they have a number of sandwiches that are pre-made and to my understanding, there's no customization. From what I can tell, they come on white bread (I think?), croissant, and focaccia but if you know me or my reviews, then you know I stopped looking once I saw focaccia. They sell out quickly so make sure you get there early enough to land you what you want and it's tucked away and hidden in the back of a really cool store you'll want to give yourself time to shop. And if all of that isn't enough, the sandwiches are themselves are phenomenal. An absolute must-visit and a perfect "take to the beach to be harassed by seagulls" lunch.

I actually met one of the owners while shopping at Games Farmers Market in Newport News. She spoke so passionately about her restaurant being a soul food spot that I knew I had to try it. I went within the week, and they don't open until after 3 p.m. (I believe they stay open until 1 or 2 in the morning). They even have extra parking across the street, which is nice. I went in by myself, and they told me I could sit wherever I wanted. Since I was one of the first people in there that day, the bartender/waitress greeted me with so much kindness. She went over some of the specials, and I ended up ordering the Rasta Pasta along with a drink--a Pineapple Upside Down (tea or lemonade, I can't quite remember). Whatever it was, it was delicioso. That drink was a 10/10--I'd go back just for that! When the pasta came out, it was served with garlic toast, and I also ordered some macaroni and cheese. The pasta was flavorful, and honestly, I've been thinking about going back for it again. The mac and cheese wasn't my favorite, but to be fair, I prefer baked, homemade macaroni & cheese--so that's just me, but it was good. While I was there, I chatted with several of the owners and the cook, and everyone was so friendly and welcoming. I even learned one of the owners is a veteran. The restaurant has a sports bar vibe, with TVs everywhere, music playing, and a DJ--it's lively, clean, and has a great atmosphere. I really love the vibe, the people, and how comfortable they made me feel. I'll definitely be back. If you're looking for good food, good people, and a good atmosphere, I'd say give George's a try--you might end up loving it like I did.
