My grandfather gave me his 1970 Harman/Kardon 930 receiver around two years ago and I was using it everyday until one day a fuse blew. Unfortunately not knowing the damage I did I replaced the fuse. The fuses kept burning out on the right channel. I didn't know what to do. At this point I didn't have much money to fix it as I was 15 at the time. But after getting a job and saving some money I was able to put some money aside for my beautiful stereo. I took it here to Q Electronic as one of my good buddies was a customer here. They took care of me for my stereo and said it might be a while for parts. After the 2 months I had waited I got the phone call saying it was ready. I was never more excited in my life to see it again back in my room. The sound is just as beautiful as I remember when I was like 8 playing around with it at my grandpas house. Called to get an estimate to repair a linear vertical turntable, and was confronted with an arrogant know it all who questioned how I knew the issue with the machine, and then proceeded to tell me how other similar machines were much better performers...um ya. So rather than give this peachy fella any of my business, I did a little digging a learned of Daniel at Wings Electronics who appears to be the go to guy for your audio gear needs according to various blogs. At any rate I sent him an email at daniel@w1ngselectronics.com and he was quick to reply, repaired my machine in ways well beyond the issue, gave it a full work over, and it is as good as new! From just my phone call getting the bad service vibes, the bad reviews from others on here and other review sites, skip them and give Daniel a shout you won't be disappointed! read more

the worst rip off shop in Victoria, these guys have no business in dealing with stereo equipment, ask around to any vintage audio collector and they will tell you beware. First of all they can NOT service equipment, second they do not test the equipment they sell and if they do, then they are putting it back on the shelf broken, and last but not least they are the rudest assholes on the planet - if you need equipment serviced go to Merit, if you want vintage equipment there are a number of better places to look, Used Victoria being one of them, you would being better off throwing actual money in an actual garbage can than spending it at q-electronics - ask around and you will see P.S their Vinyl selection is garbage too read more

I had two Vintage Tube Mono Block Power Amplifiers repaired and brought up to specifications with new parts by the Tech this included a safety Inspection. The Amplifiers were repaired properly with in a reasonable amount of time and they sound amazing as hey should. I am very happy with Q. read more

I have dealt with these guys on 4 or five occasions over the years. I have been very happy with my treatment there. Once I bought a used Antique Audio amp (tube set). It had a couple quirks which are not uncommon for an amp of that nature and age. They fixed the issue with some replacement tubes well outside any warranty period. No questions asked. They get some really cool audio equipment in. In my experience they are knowledgeable, honest and fair. They get some choice vinyl in and I think there selection is good and prices fair. read more

I will make this ZERO stars. These guys are quite the team. Brought my amp in for a minor repair and they tried to return it to me damaged. There were two chips to the finish which were so obvious. ( Didn't bother to clean his workbench properly) It was bickering and battling from there on out. They kept the amp for over 6 weeks before finally disassembling it and having it repainted. It the meantime I spoke with several audio shops and technicians for advice. This place does not have a good reputation. I now understand why. read more

I recently had two vintage boomboxs serviced by Q-Electronic. One was a late '70s Panasonic, the second an '81 Lesonic. Neither were working at all when I brought them in. I found the owner and service guy super friendly and easy to deal with. Both repairs were done within 5 business days and the prices extremely fair. Not sure what the bad reviews are about. I found these guys great to deal with. I came in asking for a thrifty solution to replacing an amp for a small theatre. A $100 solution was found, an amp with a tuner not working. Perfect for my situation. I toasted something in it due to a short in my setup. Actual smoke curling out of it! No problem. The tech had since thought of another that would solve the problem. Straight swap. The second amp turned out the have an intermittent problem with the left channel. It took it in and it worked fine on the bench, could have been my cables or source perhaps. But when it showed up again and I took it in with more evidence, my problem was courteously received. The tech ran it till the problem showed up for him and had it fixed in a few days. No charge. These folks really did want me to be satisfied - even for a $100 purchase. I think they are great and hope this recommendation counters the couple of negative reviews. read more

Hello i have been a customer of this store for 11 years including when they were at the old location. Being a small business i approached Q with a open mind from the beginning.... Vintage Audio can be finicky when repairs need to be done ASK ANY TECH worth there salt! it can also take time to get repairs completed, sourcing vintage parts, interuptions, Emergency Repairs on band equipement can be a prority etc.... . When you want a repair done you need to have a bit of electronics knowledge to help narrow down what a problem is? Time is money. i have had my gear repaired at Q over the years: Mcintosh, Eico, Electrovoice,Klipsch, Cary, and been very happy with the results FIXED. i have bought recordsat Q, i have seen customers come in act as if they know everything and been rude and unrelastic in there expectations etc for what they want repaired as to the time and the cost. There are not to many Specialty shops (Vintage Audio Buy and Sell Repair Shops in this City, i am aware of all the others,.... don't burn your bridges form a relationship with your fellow audio Repair Enthuists and the results i can guarantee you will be favorable to you. Grumpy owner. Provided amount for cost of repair to be completed in two weeks. Doubled amount upon receipt, but then took off the extra because repair took nearly five weeks (and multiple visits and calls to push them to get repair complete). Repair is fine, but they damaged the item (severe scratches), which will require another repair. How does this guy stay in business? Try somewhere else, would never go back, just as everyone else online says as well. read more

I would make this zero stars if that were possible. This guy has a real attitude problem. I brought an old receiver in for an estimate and paid $25 in advance. When I called to find out what the estimate was, he refused to say what was wrong or give any estimate other than that it would be $150 plus. I asked how much "plus" and he started in with his attitude that he was doing me a favour by even talking to me. I won't be dealing with him again and I suggest no one else do either.. read more
