Initially, I was assigned to a technician who lacked the skills to perform the fill-in correctly. They then transferred me to a male technician, an older gentleman, who was overly rough with my hands, filing over my skin and even hitting my hands. I had to request an additional coat of polish because the color wasn't applying evenly. To make matters worse, he began speaking about me in another language, which I could tell because not only were the staff staring at me, but he also pointed at me several times. Initially I wanted acrylic on my nails to prevent them from breaking but they only wanted to cut my long natural nails to put on fake nails! Finally, I asked if they could just use acrylic to repair the two cracked nails and some sing at made me wait 30 minutes to suggest crazy glue. I have nail glue at home. I finally decided I had enough of this foolishness and offered to pay 80% for my nails since only 8 nails were done. The manager finally came from the back and offered to fix my two nails that we're not done. She fixed my two nails and then I was told that my nails would be 6% more because I was using my debit card. Here me loud and clear, the card processing companies don't charge for debit cards! Got my nails done at q nails in Calverton for the first time. Just lost my second nail from this set yesterday and realized I have fungus underneath one of my nail. Very pricey, nails looked cute from a far but up close they were very uneven and wide, nail tech did one thin layer of white coat which was very transparent and streaky. I usually travel to Gaithersburg to get my nails done but due to my recent surgery I decided to try somewhere closer for the time being. On my recent and LAST visit I got a standard gel fill in which on the brochure stated was $30. He charged me $50 because my nails were long for a mediocre job I literally could've gotten anywhere else. All he did was fill my nails in and polish them no designs, cut down, special shape or anything! While I was paying $95 in total for my pedicure and fill in (my gel pedicure was $45) he proceeded to tell me that it was his last time doing my nails as if that wasn't already the case for me tuh! He was very disrespectful while talking to me so much so that my aunt came back into the salon to address him because he was so unprofessional, mind you I am 6 months pregnant with twins so I did not engage in his rude antics because I did not want to get myself upset. If I could give this dirty, ghetto salon a negative 0 rating I would. I wouldn't step foot into this salon if it was the last nail salon on the planet earth! Also, I didn't realize it at first, but initially when he put my hands in the bowl to soak the gel polish off, he poured acetone in it like normal. After that, he actually sucked up the acetone back into the bottle which is absolutely disgusting. Once it was time to leave, he rushed me to pay and interrupted me as I was speaking with another customer and it wasn't even that busy in there. Why am I signing into this? Can I get more tactful instructions? I indicate I would like a pedicure Then I am directed to a chair to start soaking my feet. The tech installs a plastic bag, turns on the water and shoves my feet into too hot water without consent or warning. "Ooo umm the water is way too hot!" I say. She grunts a laugh and starts scooping out the water with a bucket VERY ODD I think to myself.... Ok moving on, I ask about a specific brand of nail polish. She looks puzzled like she has never heard of OPI....Hunh?? IDK Which is worse She either feigns like she doesnt understand, she doesnt understand my english or she has no clue of the very common nail polish brand. We negotiate for a good 5 minutes. "I would like to see the OPI brand nail polish colors please..." She still looks puzzled but hands me a sample of CCD Nail polishes.... What? Im so confused. I ask again. "Im looking for O-P-I." Five minutes have passed and her colleague notices my frustration. She informs me that the OPI is not on the sample ring. GREAT. My feet are already in the water so I pick another color. Shes commences the pedicure and is very rough, not paying attention to my body language as cues that she is too rough. My pedicure looks good but my soul is defeated I like torture (read: I desperately needed a gel manicure ) so I came back yesterday. A more seasoned but equally language barriered nail tech who told me "Ive been working in America for 15 years" but maam you also didnt understand when I asked for a specific brand of gel polish. Can you really claim that as an accomplishment?? She was also rough especially with cutting my cuticles. Long story short, I originally went in for a full-set and a regular pedicure. The guy (forgot his name, but looks Black/Dominican, has a short, gray afro and favors Obama) told me that if I get a gel pedicure, he'd lower the price of my full-set; I agreed. Ok, we all know that Covid-19 is messing things up, and businesses are beginning to open back up, and since I was long overdue for my nail salon visit, I finally gave in and came to Q's Nails. First, you have to make an appointment to come in for service and wear a mask. Then they take your temperature and make you wash your hands before sitting with a nail technician. Everyone was following the social distancing guidelines, and even the people who were waiting for there turn needed to wait outside the door or in their car until it was their turn to be seen. The salon has up protective barriers all around the shop and between their technicians and customers to keep everyone safe.
