After landing on a Havanese (after some deep searching for the best breed for myself and my…read morefamily), I found Marti of Harris Havanese in Redondo Beach. Choosing Marti was easily the best choice I could have ever made and I am forever a client of Marti's. I will never look elsewhere when adopting my next Havanese (or a breed that isn't a Havanese, for that matter). I adopted Cookie, formally Cartier, from the "C" litter. From our first phone call in Fall 2024, Marti was attentive to the details of my life and what kind of puppy temperament would be best fit for my lifestyle. She is kind, SO communicative, and the most detail-oriented, loving, and caring person/breeder. Seeing how loved these puppies are far before they are even born was constant reassurance that I made the best choice. I would receive multiple texts/pictures/videos a day when Cookie was born. So anxious and excited to get my puppy, Marti answered all of my questions and was always so reassuring and kind. Cookie came to me loving her crate (this was a game changer), being exposed to so many sights and sounds (her groomer says she is better behaved than adult dogs she's been grooming for years ), and is the epitome of a perfect puppy and I truly owe it all to Marti because she set Cookie (and the rest of her litter) up for complete success. Everyone in my life is so surprised when they hear how young Cookie is because she is truly so well behaved, has a great sense of independence, and loves to just hang with our crew. Thank you to Marti and Gracie for loving these puppies with your whole heart. You both feel like family and I cannot express my gratitude for how you raised little Cookie.

I sent the photo to them and asked why price was suddenly went up. They said to me some excuses. But I've had the same experiences through this breeder before. I felt ripped off the price again. They know that I am ready to make a deposit on the puppy, but suddenly they've stopped to answer about my serious questions. I asked them these questions, if the puppy has been whelped and raised in the breeder's house (because I've never seen the puppy on their IG), if they own both parents, if the puppy has been vet checked (because the puppy is already ready to go home), if the puppy has no parasites or any health issues. But they've never responded to me. They could answer my questions if they had only 3 minutes, but they disappeared. Instead of answering my questions, they've sent me nasty messages right after I've left my review on Yelp. They are unprofessional people. They have no problem to say these nasty words to the people who wanted to reserve on their puppy. They've completely destroyed my feelings. Everything I said on Yelp was truth. ( I've edited my review of this breeder with my photo to prove on Yelp what was actually going on).

Margie is incredibly caring, honest, ethical, and knowledgeable. It's clear that her puppies are raised with lots of love, attention, and excellent care. Our puppy came home healthy, happy, and well-socialized. As first-time puppy owners, we especially appreciated how much time Margie spent educating us about puppy care, feeding, and the transition home. She was always patient, responsive, and supportive. The adoption process was smooth, transparent, and stress-free, and she was very accommodating throughout. A wonderful bonus was the complimentary 30-day emergency pet insurance coverage. Margie also owns J'adore Pet Salon in Glendale, which is great for grooming, and offers boarding and dog-sitting services as well. If you're looking for a trustworthy breeder who genuinely loves her dogs and stands behind her puppies, we highly recommend Margie and California Dulce Goldendoodles!

2025 left me devastated after my two fur babies passed away. I took my time grieving as loosing any…read morepet is difficult. Which is even harder to do when Instagram algorithms keep showing you all the urgent dogs who are at risk for euthanasia. Well it finally worked because I finally decided to drive down to the shelter just to "look." It was so heartbreaking to see so many pets begging for affection and love. What made it even worse was only being able to save one. So how does one choose? Personally, I look for the ones who have been there the longest, the ones who have been returned, and the ones who haven't been networked. Basically the ones that are first to be euthanized. While the shelter provides me their assessment, I have found that it is not always accurate. Which is why doing a meet and greet in the play area is critical in making your own assessment of the dog. The meet and greet is key in planning for what kind of training and schedule the dog will need. I never assume that the dog will be perfect in every way as soon as I bring him or her home. Which is why I plan meticulously on how to successfully integrate this new family member into our lives. Being a veteran with PTSD helps me understand how difficult it is to go from chaos to being home safe again. Which is why patience is important to give the dog as much time as they need to decompress. Then I bring over the dog trainer to give me their behavioral assessment so we can get to work. So who's the lucky dog? None other than a dog I affectionately call Harry because when I first saw him he was behind bars and was underweight. It made me think of that scene from Harry Potter where Ron was telling his mom that Harry was being starved and had bars on his windows. Officially, we named him Dodger formerly known as Zeus! He was returned for not getting along with another dog. That may be true for that previous owner, but so far that has not been my experience. Especially because I did slow introductions and continue to separate as well as supervise any and all interactions. One thing to understand about the adoption process is that they are surrendered for numerous reasons. Owner died, having a baby, no time, bad behavior, homeless, can't afford them, etc. That's okay it happens. If you are new to adopting pets consider fostering first so you can be fully supported before making it official. Or even volunteer if you simply are not ready. Now that I'm an empty nester and after loosing my fur baby I was ready to open my heart to a dog who needed a home. I have all the time in the world to help him thrive and he truly is the best. If you have the space and need a companion, please consider fostering or adopting. So many wonderful animals are euthanized because there's no space. Take the drive down to the shelter and "look." I'm so glad I did. The thought of my dog being euthanized because he had zero interest breaks my heart. My mornings went from depressing starts to so much love from a dog affectionately staring at me from his dog bed. My lonely days are filled with laughter and joy from all the silly goofy antics. Teaching him how to trust again after what he has been through has been healing for the both of us. We make each other feel safe and I am incredibly thankful for him. We saved each other. Thank you to all the volunteers and staff who do their best. This job is certainly not easy, but I'm grateful for you all.

After my companion pup of 12 years passed away, I knew I wanted another pup in our lives. After doing research on different types of breeds I fell in love with the miniature Goldendoodle breed. Little did I know that during Covid everyone wanted to adopt a new puppy! Every breeder in California had long waitlists of over a year! I did find breeders out of state but I did not find the idea of shipping a new puppy ideal. I wanted a local breeder with experience whom I can see face to face. Luckily in my exhaustive search I found Tropico Kennels! Lisa was the only breeder I found that had availability and that did not require for me to sign up for a lengthy waitlist and submit a deposit before the puppy was born. I found it ludicrous to pay a large deposit having no idea what the puppy will even look like! I kept checking the website regularly to see when new pups were being born. The website has a lot of useful and valuable information about the process of adopting and welcoming a new Goldendoodle puppy. Once pictures were posted online of the newborn pup I was interested in, I submitted my interest form. Lisa contacted me right away and I paid my deposit. Lisa worked with me in regards of accepted payment forms for deposit and I found her to be very knowledgeable and friendly. The website provided all the details I needed : I knew exactly when my pup would come home, expected weight, parent info, type (F1B, F1BB etc), shedding info, and the pictures of the newborn puppies. I do wish I had more communication from Lisa in terms of pictures and details as the puppy was growing (I was obsessed) but I knew she was busy and in the end I got my perfect dream puppy. When it was time to pick up my baby, I drove to Lisa's beautiful ranch and her husband was friendly and nice when delivering the dog to me. All in all I would recommend this breeder for anyone looking for a gorgeous Goldendoodle pup!

I decide to call and a older woman picks up I say hello good morning, who do I have the pleasure in speaking with? (I ask who it is I'm speaking with so that I can properly greet her ) she responds rudely& with an attitude "well you called me so you should know who I am" I say oh ok I do apologize but am I calling to Tropico kennels? She says yea. And then goes off on a rant that she doesn't answer her person phone often because she receives calls of people always trying to buy her house or sell her stupid shit. I said oh ok I understand but that was very unprofessional of you, I do not wish to purchase a dog off a business who doesn't know how to be professional or answer a phone call like a decent human being. So I then hung up. I would never speak to anyone that way regardless of the circumstances. Learn to be respectful and polite. Completely put me off and definitely will NOT EVER be buying a dog from this place. I'm editing my review because after a couple minutes my mom said she wanted to try and call to get information about the dogs. Because again my mom is interested in buying a puppy. So my mom calls says hello good morning I was wanting to get some information about the golden doodle puppies you might have. the same woman answers and says oh ok sure but can I call you back in a couple of minutes? My mom said sure not a problem and then the woman hung up. LITERALLY 1 minute goes by and I receive a message from this woman (I have attached a photo of the message) saying nice try! I did reply and then blocked her. Never in my life have I ever had an encounter like this. The woman then proceeds to call my mom back (I have attached a photo of the phone call as well that she called back) (as you can see she called back & the call lasted 14sec bc she was a COWARD & hung up) and say to her that she is not going to sell us any dog because I called and hung up on her, and that she should tell her daughter to not be a bitch. The woman proceeds to hang up. So I blocked her on both my mother & I's phone. Completely UNPROFESSIONAL and RUDE! We were only wanting information about the puppies! Which is why my mom insisted on her trying to call because she really wants a puppy. HORRIBLE experience!
