OK, so I usually don't write reviews, but my experience tonight was insane. When I got there, the host was kind to me and took me to my table. I didn't experience any rudeness or anything else that would have ruined my night. The food was good, the service was good and I had an overall good experience. But there was one thing that absolutely disgusted me so I was sitting at the table by the I was closest to the host so I got to hear everything they were talking about and I heard what seemed to be a manager or the owner talking to his hosts with with degrading words and it made me extremely uncomfortable. I heard him berating them telling them. It's all your fault. You messed this up just yelling at them and being extremely rude and unprofessional. I don't think anybody in the workplace should be talking to another person like that. It was so distracting and me and my table were listening to it, absolutely disgusted. I feel extremely bad for the girls who had to endure that it, no one deserves to be talked to that way, especially because they were only young girls. It made me extremely uncomfortable to hear a grown man yelling and berating such young girls. The food was good. The service was great. I didn't have a problem with the host. I just have a problem with that manager. He made me extremely uncomfortable. read more

Absolutely loved this place! Everything was incredibly fresh and beautifully prepared. The sashimi was fresh and flavorful, and the oysters were excellent! A few of our favorites were the spicy tuna crispy rice made with forbidden rice, the Goddess roll, and the Big Arnett roll -- all packed with flavor and definitely worth ordering. The quality of the fish really stood out, and every dish tasted fresh and thoughtfully prepared. The service was also fantastic -- friendly, attentive, and made the whole experience even better. Great food, fresh ingredients, excellent service, and some seriously memorable sushi. We'll definitely be back! read more

I'm comparing my recent visit to Q Sushi with what it used to be, which is why the rating is lower than it might be otherwise. This used to be a great place for something a little more special than the neighborhood sushi place, sadly, we won't be coming back. First, the service is terrible. We were seated outside on a broken bench seat. I asked if we could have the table we had walked right past on the way outside (same size) and was told there was a reservation for that table. Now, we had a reservation as well, but the hostess said "they made their reservation before you". Well, guess what, that table sat EMPTY the entire time we were there. Hmmm.... maybe we didn't "rate" the inside table? Then service was slow, just painfully slow. 15 minutes before we got water, then waited to order for quite a bit. First dish came out 30 minutes after we ordered. Final dish was a good hour after we ordered. And the wait/runner staff used to be exceptional. Sadly, doesn't seem like anyone is training them to provide service at a more upscale restaurant. Like, please walk around and deliver the plates to the person who ordered them, don't stand at one corner and direct me to give plates to my friends. The food was good, but honestly not that much better than I can get at my local spot. The wagyu skewers were blah, and you used to get one big lovely juicy scallop on that robata dish and now it's three puny ones, maybe frozen? The spicy tuna on forbidden rice was scrumptious, and the crispy shrimp is a good portion for table sharing. It's sad, because this definitely used to be our go-to for celebration dinners, but the experience has gone downhill for sure. read more

What a lovely experience coming here on a Friday night! I made a reservation online a couple hours before we wanted to go at 6:30pm. Plenty of free parking in a massive lot with dozens of other stores and restaurants. It was decorated so cute and festive for the holidays. We started off with the tempura cauliflower as a starter and it was AMAZING! I typically don't like tempura but it was only very lightly breaded and seasoned sooo well. It gave it a delicious crunch with a perfectly cooked soft interior. We shared the sunset and poke rolls which were delicious, and got several nigiri pieces which all absolutely melted in our mouths. Stephanie was a fantastic waitress! She made several recommendations about the "additions" to put on the nigiri pieces - house made soy sauce, garlic ponzu, and lime zest. She even spoke up and offered an alternative suggestion to what we initially asked for telling us what the truly best pairings were for each fish. We SO appreciated her knowledge and care to make it the best experience for us! Q Sushi will become a staple whenever I'm back visiting the Thousand Oaks area! read more

Good size, separate, drink and sushi bars as well as many tables and booths. Smaller outdoor seating. It gets pretty packed on weekends. They do take reservations on Yelp, which while highly recommended may not eliminate the wait and just make it shorter. Food: 4: First off, their fish is very fresh. Great, high quality and unique selections, with creative and tasty preparations. Excellent top-notch high-quality nigiri, sashimi, maki (cut rolls) and temaki (hand rolls). Extensive list of creative and flavorful specialty rolls and appetizers. Drinks: 4: Full bar and creative, tasty specialty cocktails. Beer, sake and wine. Service: 4: Servers are super polite, super friendly and super attentive. Prices: 3: Food and drinks are more pricey than similar establishments :( The Last Word 4: Solid, upscale option for a nice, quality lunch or dinner outing. Great ambiance, food and drinks. Finally made it to Q Sushi, a place my friends had been hyping up for quite some time. I can't tell you what nigiris I ate, but what I can say is that all of them were incredible! The quality of the fish was amazing, and the mix of flavors was perfection along with the beautiful presentation. Loved that there wasn't too much rice and it was proportionate to the sashimi on top. Service was also at a steady pace which I appreciated and all of the staff were warm and friendly. read more

I really enjoyed my meal at Q Sushi and appreciated the quality of the food. My favorite dish was the miso cauliflower as it was incredibly packed with flavor and complexity. For a vegetable starter, I was pleasantly surprised at how delicious the cauliflower was prepared! The American wagyu robata skewer came with a crispy garlic topping and was served perfectly medium rare, which was another favorite dish of the night. We also enjoyed speciality rolls and had a simple salmon roll prepared. I am knocking a star down because we paid $20 for a simple cut roll which caught us off guard, and we had a corner table that was crammed next to the reception area and bar, so it was not the best location to feel relaxed during date night. read more

From the moment my family and I walked in we felt unwelcome. We had reservations and saw two other parties of similar size seated before us. We realized we had arrived about 5 minutes earlier than our reservation time so we assumed what we were feeling was a fluke. Once we were seated, our server asked if we wanted drinks or needed a minute. We asked for water for the table and said we would need a minute. After she brought our water, a minute turned into 10. We watched as she visited tables around us but never checked in with us. At one point a different server asked us if we needed anything. After we mentioned that we wanted to order, he told us he would get our server for us. Again, we saw her checking in with other tables. 20 minutes from the time we were seated all we got was water. We ended up walking out and eating pizza in the same plaza - and were treated with much better and attentive service. read more

The issue was that the meal was served in an unhygienic condition, which was only discovered after part of the order had already been consumed. What was especially disappointing was the inconsistent communication throughout the process. We were initially promised a full refund on multiple occasions, experienced difficulty reaching management, and then ultimately received a different resolution days later. I had genuinely enjoyed and supported your restaurant previously, which is why this outcome has been so disappointing. At this point, I plan to move forward with submitting feedback to the appropriate consumer and health channels, as I do not feel this issue was handled appropriately. My husband and I ordered the spicy tuna wonton tacos for takeout from this location. He picked up the order and brought it home, and thankfully before I ate mine, I looked down and noticed there was hair inside one of the sushi tacos. Unfortunately, my husband had already eaten his portion without realizing there was an issue, which was extremely concerning given the obvious hygiene problem. We immediately called the restaurant and were told the manager was unavailable but would call us back. After waiting over two hours without hearing anything, we finally called again and spoke with the manager on duty, who apologized and advised we would receive a full refund. He also stated that the next time we came in, he would provide an appetizer on the house. Two days later, we received another call stating we would only be receiving a partial refund because my husband had eaten his portion of the tacos. This was surprising and disappointing considering we had already been promised a full refund and the food itself was clearly served in an unhygienic condition. Frankly, we are now left hoping my husband did not unknowingly consume someone's hair. When we followed up again and explained we had originally been promised a full refund, the hostess advised that we would receive it shortly. It has now been several days and we still have not received any refund. We are especially disappointed because we genuinely enjoyed this location previously and have frequented it many times. However, the handling of this situation felt unprofessional from both management and customer service. Between the hygiene issue, inconsistent communication, and failure to follow through on what was promised, it has unfortunately made us question the standards of the restaurant overall. I recently visited your restaurant for Mother's Day dinner. While I found the decor to be very nice and the service to be great overall, I encountered a significant issue regarding your utensils. When I requested a fork to eat my salad, I was surprised to be told that none were available. While I appreciate the authentic atmosphere of a sushi restaurant, providing basic utensils like forks is essential for guest comfort, especially for certain menu items. First restaurant my fiance and I decided to try in the area and it is definitely on the higher scaled end. From the waiting area it didn't look like much tbh but when you get into the actual restaurant, it has quite the ambiance. It has both a drinks bar and sushi bar with high ceilings and a second floor. Service was great and there were plenty of food options. We ended up trying the crispy rice, spicy shrimp, king Hoang roll and the assorted sashimi. A little underwhelmed with the portion sizes but the quality was good. Be prepared to spend for not that much food. Will come back and try their cocktails next time read more

I go some old roll that I didn't order. Didn't get the rolls I ordered. I spent over 50$ and I didn't even get any Ginger or Wasabi! Just 2 Paks of soy sauce for 3 rolls. The sushi I average at best. I can't believe I never reviewed this place! Our family has been coming here for years, and it's my kids' favorite restaurant. The flavors are spot on and you will not have a bad or questionable bite, ever. They also have the best spicy tuna on crispy rice you will ever try. This is the only restaurant in the Conejo Valley that is consistently good every time we visit. The happy hour is a also a great value and a good way to try new items. Q sushi nights are our family's favorite and frankly a tradition for us. I can't imagine anyone coming and not getting hooked on it. read more

This is probably the only sushi place that is comparable to Nobu in Malibu in my opinion. The inside of this restaurant was not what I expected at all. A mix of modern meets farmhouse meets Japan. The lychee martini was sooo yummy. I would recommend getting the sashimi plate to start, the micro greens and sauce paired perfect with the yellowtail. You cannot go wrong with the poke roll - such a fun twist on poke and a signature roll. All of our sushi was fresh and felt like it was made to order. The food isn't bad, but it's nothing special. Sushi is very mediocre compared to somewhere like Sea Butter or SUGARFISH in my opinion. The quality of the fish might not seem like you're dining in Westlake but the price definitely will! They charge $14-$18 for basic Nigiri that is $7-$9 at competitors like Sea Butter or SUGARFISH, yet the fish here is lower quality. Similar pricing/quality on other items as well. Service was attentive. Bar has a good selection. This place really just falls short when it comes to the sushi for me. If you're going for the atmosphere, aren't an experienced sushi eater and don't care about sushi prices being around double relative to competitors, this place might work for you. Personally, if I'm in the mood for sushi, I'd rather pay less and still get higher quality fish at one of the other sushi spots I mentioned above that are 5-15 minutes away. read more

The happy hour here has some really delicious specialty items and everything is exceptionally well priced. Service was friendly, we sat at the bar area on the corner near the front door. Very cool ambiance, I loved the textured style accent of the walls. There was an ample amount of parking in the lot outside. My friend and I enjoyed the brussel sprout appetizer, the green mussels, and two specialty rolls from the happy hour menu. We showed up at about ten minutes before it was over and the team graciously honored the happy hour prices for us. It was quiet enough in our seating area that we were able to talk and we had a lot of fun trying the different rolls and appetizers. Our favorite was the salmon lover roll, which had very fresh and delicious salmon and a really good taste profile. The brussel sprouts were crispy and flavorful but not overdone. The orange sauce on the mussels was tasty and we fell in love with the homecooked style crispy onions on top of the moto roll.
