My wife and I had an absolutely wonderful experience at Kaze. We had originally put ourselves on the waiting list, and they were kind enough to reach out when an opening became available -- which we really appreciated. We were celebrating a special occasion, and from the moment we arrived the service was exceptional. They greeted us with sake and made us feel incredibly welcome. The entire team was warm, attentive, and very accommodating throughout the evening. Each course was thoughtfully presented and explained to us along the way, which made the experience even more enjoyable. The food was absolutely delicious and beautifully prepared. Overall, it was a fantastic dining experience from start to finish. We felt very well taken care of and would absolutely recommend Kaze to anyone looking for an amazing sushi experience.

Kaze in Thousand Oaks really impressed me, the sushi was incredibly fresh and the omakase had a great variety of high-quality courses. Everything felt well thought out, and the sake selection paired perfectly with the meal. It's definitely on the pricier side, but for the quality and number of courses, it feels very reasonable. Highly recommend!

Hands-down the best omakase experience I've had so far. Kaze Omakase serves truly unforgettable sushi--incredibly fresh, perfectly balanced, and beautifully presented. What makes it exceptional is the one-of-a-kind creativity from Chef Sean. Every course felt thoughtful and inspired, with unique flavors that surprised and impressed from start to finish. More than just a meal--this was a full experience. Highly recommend if you're looking for top-tier, memorable sushi. Definitely will be coming back!

Kaze in Thousand Oaks is a new omakase sushi spot, and I had the honor of experiencing it firsthand. From the moment I sat down, the experience felt incredibly personal. Head Chef Sean was beyond accommodating with my kosher restrictions, which made the night even more special. If you're familiar with Sushi by Scratch in Montecito (featured in the Michelin Guide), Chef Sean was their Chef de Cuisine and is now the Head Chef at Kaze and it absolutely shows. Unlike any other omakase I've experienced, every single bite was executed with intention. Each course was distinct, thoughtful, and deeply educational. The techniques used to make the fish so tender and flavorful were truly impressive. This is not your ordinary sushi restaurant it's a memorable, elevated experience from start to finish. Thank you, Kaze, for such a wonderful night I highly recommend you give them a visit!

The absolute best food I think I will ever eat in my lifetime. Chef Shaun is an absolute legend!! I feel so lucky to have him in Conejo valley, such a gem. His passion shows in every single bite and proves that food is truly an art form. Kaze is a whole vibe and experience from the welcome yuzu sake to the intimate vibe with your neighbors. I admit I was a little skeptical at first but believe the hype! It was absolutely worth every single penny.

FANTASTIC, the best experience ever. My best friend and I saw this advertised on Instagram and booked IMMEDIATELY, we are OBSESSED and told all our friends. The service was incredible. We will be back! Everything, the food? Drinks and connecting with people there was fantastic. The ambiance is high class and good dinner lighting

An unforgettable omakase experience from start to finish. This was true omakase in the purest sense--intimate, thoughtful, and deeply personal. Every course felt intentional, perfectly paced, and impeccably balanced. The ingredients were pristine, and the progression told a story rather than just showcasing technique. What truly elevated the evening was the chef. Watching him work was a privilege--confident yet warm, precise yet creative. He took the time to explain each dish, share the inspiration behind it, and genuinely connect with the guests. That level of passion and presence is rare and made the experience feel exclusive and special rather than performative. Flavors were clean, layered, and memorable. Nothing was overdone, nothing relied on gimmicks--just exceptional fish, flawless execution, and a chef who clearly respects both the craft and the people sitting in front of him. If you're looking for an omakase that feels authentic, elevated, and personal--this is it. Worth every bite, every minute, and every dollar. I'm already thinking about when I can come back.

Comparison is the thief of joy. I had to keep repeating that as we went through the courses as I usually finding myself struggling from holding up what's in front of me to all the dining experiences I've had in my head. Kaze is truly an exceptional omakase experience. A place like this is almost out of place in a town like Thousand Oaks, however, absolutely needed and welcomed. Without going into too much detail, you can find that the dishes were well thought out and balanced. I must say that I did not find myself expecting to enjoy that grittiest, beach like horchata mocktail, but I'm sure that was on purpose (right?). I almost hate to go through and review the individual bites for a place where it doesn't matter since you aren't ordering anything. You paid for a seat and time. What Kaze, Chef Sean and the crew does with that time is make sure that you understand you're in well seasoned hands. So as with all omakase experiences, sit back, and allow them to take care of you while you sit back and just enjoy your time. You will not be disappointed in what they have prepared and their execution.

Absolutely incredible experience!! We have had the pleasure of meeting Chef Sean at the sushi bar he worked at before, but once we found out he was opening his own place in our area, we had to go! Every single course was delicious and creative. Nothing felt repetitive, and each course felt like a surprise! Chef Adrain was fantastic at explaining each dish and Mario had the perfect sake pairing for each bite, he really knows his sakes! This is the kind of place you go for an experience, not just sushi--and it absolutely delivers. Already looking forward to coming back. Highly recommend if you're an omakase fan or celebrating something special. Welcome to the neighborhood!

My husband and I tried this new omakase spot and were blown away. The fish was amazing, and each bite felt thoughtful and well paced. The chef and staff explained what we were eating without making it feel scripted. The space itself is intimate, calm, and romantic. We loved our experience so much that we made a reservation for next week to celebrate a birthday. Can't wait to come back and tell all of our friends and family about this new gem !

A truly unforgettable dining experience! So excited to have an incredible Omakase restaurant right in Thousand Oaks. The intimate atmosphere is so cozy! How could 19 courses be consumed in one sitting?! Somehow they made 19 courses the perfect amount of food to leave you feeling completely satisfied. The Chefs are truly making art on the plates. At one point I said "wow it's like a dance in my mouth. The flavors and technique were all perfectly executed. I can't wait to go back time and time again!

From the moment you walk in, to the absolutely incredible food. This place is amazing. Chef Sean and his team welcome you with open arms making you feel like family. The food is hands down the best I have ever had. A mix between light and comfort Japanese cuisine there was not one dish I wasn't impressed with. Highly recommend and absolutely worth every penny.

There are meals... and then there are spiritual awakenings disguised as dinner reservations. At Kaze, the 19-course omakase is not simply served -- it unfolds like an elegant fever dream you never want to wake up from. Chef Sean operates somewhere between surgeon, poet, and quiet culinary warlock. Every piece of nigiri felt intentional down to the millimeter. The rice was warm and perfectly seasoned, cradling fish so pristine it felt borderline disrespectful to chew too quickly. Each course built on the last with effortless precision -- delicate, balanced, surprising, and occasionally so good it made the entire room go silent. And then there's Kevin. Kevin doesn't just "pair" wine -- he engineers harmony. Every pour elevated the bite in front of us, from crisp, mineral-driven whites that made the seafood shimmer to softer, nuanced selections that rounded out richer cuts flawlessly. It never felt forced. It felt inevitable. Like the wine and sushi had been waiting their whole lives to meet. Maddie set the tone from the moment we arrived. As host, she made the entire evening feel warm, personal, and seamless. The pacing, the attention to detail, the way she made us feel completely taken care of -- it tied everything together. Nothing felt rushed, nothing felt overlooked. She created the kind of atmosphere that allows a 19-course experience to feel intimate rather than overwhelming. By the end, we weren't just full -- we were impressed, grateful, and already planning our return. Kaze isn't just dinner in Thousand Oaks. It's craftsmanship, hospitality, and obsession with detail all working in perfect sync. An unforgettable experience.

Plenty of free parking in a massive lot with dozens of other stores and restaurants. It was decorated so cute and festive for the holidays. We started off with the tempura cauliflower as a starter and it was AMAZING! I typically don't like tempura but it was only very lightly breaded and seasoned sooo well. It gave it a delicious crunch with a perfectly cooked soft interior. We shared the sunset and poke rolls which were delicious, and got several nigiri pieces which all absolutely melted in our mouths. Stephanie was a fantastic waitress! She made several recommendations about the "additions" to put on the nigiri pieces - house made soy sauce, garlic ponzu, and lime zest. She even spoke up and offered an alternative suggestion to what we initially asked for telling us what the truly best pairings were for each fish. We SO appreciated her knowledge and care to make it the best experience for us! Q Sushi will become a staple whenever I'm back visiting the Thousand Oaks area!

We realized we had arrived about 5 minutes earlier than our reservation time so we assumed what we were feeling was a fluke. Once we were seated, our server asked if we wanted drinks or needed a minute. We asked for water for the table and said we would need a minute. After she brought our water, a minute turned into 10. We watched as she visited tables around us but never checked in with us. At one point a different server asked us if we needed anything. After we mentioned that we wanted to order, he told us he would get our server for us. Again, we saw her checking in with other tables. 20 minutes from the time we were seated all we got was water. We ended up walking out and eating pizza in the same plaza - and were treated with much better and attentive service.

For a moment we had the feeling that the evening would be great. The place looked very clean and even a little bit glamorous, so we thought we had chosen a really good spot. Unfortunately, our impressions changed as soon as we started ordering. We ordered a salad, a sushi roll, and monkfish liver. The monkfish liver tasted so "authentic" that it felt like it had just been taken straight out of a can. It definitely did not taste like something that had been prepared in that kitchen. From the beginning to the end of our visit, we never received water. When we asked for wasabi and ginger, the waitress told us that they would bring it when the sushi arrived. We repeated our request for ginger, but the answer was exactly the same. When the roll finally arrived, it looked like someone might have started eating it yesterday and they simply decided to give it another chance today. It wasn't really sliced so much as it was spread across the plate. On the very edge of the plate there was a tiny bit of ginger and a tiny bit of wasabi. Both looked like they might have been borrowed from someone else's plate. When I looked at the waitress questioningly, she explained that if we wanted more wasabi and ginger, we could pay extra and they would bring more. I checked the rating later and somehow it has four stars. I'm giving it two stars -- and only because the sushi chef was very polite when we arrived and the place was clean inside.

The establishment is kind of hidden in the corner next to the shell gas station and there is ample parking. As I was walking towards the front, I see a sign stating that they have a happy hour starting at 1 o'clock and it was 1259 so I was very excited to see what this look like especially for it being my first time here. This meant that I get to try a lot of new things and a lot more things. There is about 10 to 15 tables inside with different amounts of seating and since it was just my boyfriend and I and the lady gave us the choice to sit wherever then we chose a table with two seats but, had us move to the next one because she said that the two seat ones were for single people, especially because it was lunchtime. She refused to let us sit at the two person table ‍. We got several menus and a pencil with an ordering paper. She took our drink order and we started to explore the vast menu and it all looked great! (I love when they have pictures on the menu apart from descriptions) After she brought us waters, I asked her if the special menu was considered the happy hour menu and she said it's not happy hour yet and I said yes it is 1 o'clock and she looked at my boyfriends clock on his phone and apologized and brought the happy hour menu. I included the receipt so you can see that 4/5 rolls were happy hour pricing. The sushi chefs were 2 Hispanic men and the reason why I mention this was because I feel like most of my rolls had this "chili powder" that resembled Tajin on my rolls and that's what they called "spicy" half my rolls were supposed to be spicy tuna but the tuna itself was not spicy they just had this Tajin-like powder on top and to me it wasn't spicy at all and I also felt like it made those 2/3 rolls taste bland. My bf loves deep fried rolls so he opted to try the magic mtn and he loved it and I think I enjoyed the spider roll the most. Even the spicy tuna on the crispy rice was just regular tuna with no spice. We still thought it tasted good but we will maybe give it another try with different rolls next time. They have a punch card if you spend $50+ after I think 10 you get a free speciality roll. The chefs gave us a parting remark and we thanked them upon leaving for lunch. Our server was a little more cold but kudos to her for handling the whole restaurant by herself in an efficient manner as our food came out quick and we got water refills and she checked in on us while serving 5/6 other tables all by herself.
