The Q70 LaGuardia Link SBS might honestly be the only thing the Metropolitan Transportation Authority absolutely nailed. I took the Long Island Rail Road into Woodside and the transfer could not have been easier. The bus stop is right there off Roosevelt Ave, basically under the 7 train station and right near a Dunkin, so there's no wandering around trying to figure things out. What really stands out is how straightforward the whole process feels. No weird detours, no unnecessary stops. You get on, it moves. Within just a few stops, the bus jumps straight onto the Brooklyn Queens Expressway and from there it's a direct shot to LaGuardia Airport. I was there in about 20 minutes, maybe even less, which is kind of insane considering it's New York and you're heading to an airport. The fact that it's free just makes it even better. No metro card swipe, no extra cost, just get on and go. For once, everything worked exactly how you'd want it to. It's efficient, easy to find, and actually fast. Hard to say that about most things transit related here, but this one delivers. read more

If you're not dragging a load of luggage with you before or after your flight the Q70 LaGuardia Link bus is a convenient, and cheap, way to travel back and forth into the city. It's a free service serving Terminal B and Terminal C, and takes you to the subway station at Roosevelt Ave/74th Street where you can catch multiple subway lines such as the E, F, M, R, 7. I found plenty of signage at Terminal C today telling us where the pickup/drop off area was. Busses run every 6-10 minutes. Bus does get crowded and takes around 20 minutes or so depending on traffic to get to the subway station so standing might be an option. read more

The Q70 is the fastest way into the city especially if you're flying Jet Blue and landing at terminal B. The Q70 or LaGuardia link as it's called is a Free bus that picks up right downstairs from baggage claim at Terminals B and C. It doesn't go to Terminal A or the Marine terminal. Follow the signs downstairs and busses arrive every 8 minutes. They're new, clean, have WIFI, and air conditioning. First stop is Jackson Hts / Roosevelt Ave where you can pick up the M ( express) or the R (local). Stay on the bus 1 more stop to woodside and you can catch the 7. Best way to get to and from LaGuardia. It sucks but it's no better than this. Q70 is the bus that goes to the Jackson Heights transportation center and connects to the subway and other transportation. Fastest way to go. This is free if using a MetroCard. Efficient way of getting between the subway and the airport. It doesn't make any stops between. There's currently not a faster way. An extension of the subway to LaGuardia is planned. Unfortunately it's been planned for many years. If you don't have a MetroCard, it's $2.75 to get on. Those who do though only need to insert it into the machine and you get a paper ticket. Be sure to keep it somewhere safe you can get to it fast. They check it. It only takes about 12 minutes between each. It can get crowded but there's luggage racks. Choosing the bus to get to Manhattan was definitely the way to go. First off, the bus picks up right outside the terminal. It runs often enough that there was a short wait. It's free to get you to the subway station. They have a free wifi (yes, really!) and there was enough seating with room dedicated for luggage. The ride wasn't completely smooth with a few potholes and a few turns, but it was FREE and really, how can I complain about that? I think it took maybe 15 or 20 minutes in light traffic. The fastest and easiest way to get from LGA to any of the boroughs. The Q70 is FREE, and gets you to the subway Fast. Its the most inexpensive way to get to Manhattan without dealing with all the traffic, just buy your Metro Card right before you exit the terminal area in one of the Kiosks available. I purchased an $11.00 card, the train fare is $2.75, I then had enough left over to take a couple trips with the card while in the city. One thing you may want to consider though, you will have to go up and down the subway stairs, if you're carrying heavy luggage it may be a bit trying. Other than that, its a definite go!!! read more

The Woodside stop is in front of 61-28 Roosevelt Ave (this is where this bus starts). If you're coming from Manhattan, exit from the train station platform (by stairs or elevator) towards the rear of the train. The stairs will lead you right to the corner of Roosevelt Ave. Walk down Roosevelt, in the same direction that the train went, and you will go under either the train tracks or subway tracks and then you'll be at the bus stop. read more

I hate LaGuardia because there are no real cheap/relatively quick options to go from LGA to anywhere outside of Queens. I usually had no issues there when I lived in Queens but this trip had me staying in Manhattan and I didn't feel like staying in the huge taxi lines or shelling out for an Uber. The Q70 is actually a decent option, it's an SBS line which means you prepay before you head on and there are very few stops. It was relatively quick-but it's always hard to guarantee with traffic and all the construction going on at LGA, and it's obviously a de facto shuttle for airport employees, some of whom were obviously frustrated with the slow pace it took going from terminal to terminal since they were running late. I didn't have that issue getting to the 7 which then will get you into the city at a pretty fast rate. Hopefully, you'll get a seat! read more

Even though I wasn't a huge fan of the Q33, I was kind of shocked when I heard it would no longer go to LaGuardia and instead would be replaced by the Q70. The MTA promised the Q70 would be faster and in my decidedly unscientific experiment today on the way home today, I found that to be the case. From Terminal C to Roosevelt/74th, it was 12 minutes. And that included a long stop at Central Terminal to pick up people. The fact that it only stops at the main terminals at LGA (not the Marine Air Terminal) and then Roosevelt/74th and then Woodside means it isn't making EVERY SINGLE STOP ON 82nd Street. That's what made the Q33 so freaking slow. Combined with the E Train, it took me a total of 45 minutes to get home from LaGuardia, which was faster than if I'd taken a cab at the same time (5:00 pm on a weekday). Additionally, there was a luggage rack on this bus and the MTA said they all will have it. I still have to see how it does going to the airport, but for now, Viva la Q70! read more

It was free during the Thanksgiving week. I had some time/not in a rush, was traveling light. Got on at the first stop at Woodside, which meant an empty bus and minimal passengers. At the second stop, Jackson Heights, there were a ton of people and many had to stand. There was traffic, so you have to factor that in. I think it took me about 25 minutes to get to my terminal. If you're flying light, this is the way to do it. So cheap and so quick. I am so glad I found out about this on Yelp. Saved a bunch of money by not having to take a cab or an Uber. On the way into town, I paid $2.75 for a ticket on to the bus. You buy the tickets at the stations outside of the terminals. Once I got to the train in Queens, I bought a $20 metro card and used another $2.75 of it to hop on the 7 train which brings you right into the heart of Midtown Manhattan. On the way back used my metro card to get on the train and then put it back in again at the bus station out in Queens which took it as a transfer so $2.75 total from Times Square to La Guardia. That beats the hell out of $50 or thereabouts each way on a Cab or Uber. Is it a little dicey? No, I didn't think it was too bad. There was a dude to the right of me rapping loudly to himself and briefly harassing the women across from us, but I've seen worse on the Light Rail in Minneapolis. Total trip time each way is maybe 50 minutes or so. Not that much longer than a cab or Uber would be. Next time I would probably fly into JFK rather than La Guardia because you can just hop right on the train at JFK. But if stuck going through La Guardia again, I would do the Q70 again without a doubt. read more

They've recently made the Q70 into a Selected Bus Service route, meaning now that you have to buy a separate ticket at one of the machines by the stop with your metrocard. For the price ($2.75) this is a very good choice for those that look for an easy way of getting to LGA. Especially for those of us coming from LIRR its great that they have a stop Woodside before heading down to Roosevelt Ave stop. Definitely a great connection for those that travel from Penn or the subways. I had a flight on Monday so there were only a few other passengers besides me which is definitely very welcoming if you have more luggage. Plus its quicker as it goes through Grand Central Pkway rather than local routes making this a great way to save some dough if you're not in a hurry to get to the airport. Travel time on the bus took only about 15 minutes. My only minor complaints are that the vending machines I found were out in the street in the cold and that the bus is quite on-time and couldn't really let us get on before its time to depart. Also the stops are not in order but goes in B,D then terminal C. The driver didn't really announce the stops so you definitely have to be careful make sure you get off at the right terminal for your flight. Overall though I'm glad I was able to find this online and hope to see people utilize it more and more now with the bigger bus. Definitely well worth the bus fare to get you into LGA. read more

Some people don't know about the Q70 (or Q70 limited -its "official government name" ) & that makes me sad! Its a great choice for getting in and out of LaGuardia. It picks up at most of the terminals (ie B, C, & D but not the Marine Air) and uses the interstate highways instead of side streets to get you to the E,M,R &F Jackson Heights subway station or the LIRR station and 7 subway train station in about 10 min or so. Youll want a metro card to ride and you can find a machine selling them / reloading them at a welcome center not too far from the bus stop in the Delta terminal (I'd ask someone where because thinking about it again - it's not that easy to find.)The cost is $2.75 but it loads a free subway ride on your card. Or its a free ride on the unlimited card. If you're in a pinch without a MetroCard you can also use $2.75 (in quarters only)to ride but you'll need to buy one anyhow to get on the subway. This is a great option if visiting mid to lower Manhattan, queens or Brooklyn. For upper Manhattan I'd use the M60 bus - it goes to the N Q station in Queens and then up to other stations on 125th in Manhattan. (Keep in mind it's a local bus making stops though.) Cabs cabs cabs...the line is always way backed up - its gonna take a while to get a cab anyhow and chances are good you'll sit in traffic -- its costing a very minimum of $30+ plus tip to get into Manhattan. A gypsy cab (hired car) from Manhattan will cost you maybe $50-$55. And let's just say between the driving, conversation, and odors in cabs, I'm finding the newish city bus and subway a better option. Back to the Q70 tho - in my years taking it it has never not shown or even been very late. One time for unknown reasons an MTA employee came at the last second and randomly moved the bus stop at the Jacksons heights station across the street and put up a bunch of paper signs saying as much (for reason's unknown.). That threw me a bit but I still made it to the airport just fine. This trip generally takes me (from leaving a hotel to getting to the terminals) ~1 hour from Manhattan - maybe a little more from Brooklyn. But it literally saves me over $100 every trip. CHEAPEST AND MOST CONVENIENT way to get to LaGuardia Airport. Normally the MTA system is annoying, but anytime there's an express/limited service that goes Point A to Point B quickly and efficiently, count me in. $2.50 one way with your Metrocard (or your unlimited card). Stops at Woodside 61st St and Jackson Heights 74th St before the airport (both on street level next to the subway). The bus itself is your typical size MTA bus, just modified inside with luggage racks. Took barely 10-15 mins from Woodside for me to arrive at my terminal. Love it. I decided to be adventurous and take public transportation from Laguardia to our Times Square hotel. Was picked up by Q70 Limited bus in just a few minutes on terminal B, clearly marked. The MTA card system was down and I brought change $2.75 just in case so I am glad I did. In less than 10 minutes I was at the Roosevelt Ave/Jackson Heights station, there I bought a MTA card and jumped on the E line Subway (6 stops) and was in times square in about 15 minutes getting off at 50th Street. I did have to carry my suite case up the steps but was not very heavy. Some stops have elevators, or be prepared to carry up steps. Probably saved about $60 at least one way and went off without a hitch. Total travel time was around 40 minutes max. Did the same on the return trip and no problems whatsoever The place the Q70 Ltd picks you up is under the tracks below the above ground train marked with a yellow Q70 sign that says LGA. This is the fastest way to LaGuardia. The bus runs frequently. It's clean. It connects to the E or 7, which can get you practically anywhere else. The bus itself is very fast and efficient, straight to LGA. I know it sounds stressful to transfer from the subway to a bus to get to the airport, but it's really as easy as it can be. The only complaints I have are: the bus can get crowded, and you have to pay attention to know which terminal you're getting off at. read more

For those that are bringing luggage with you on the bus, they have a luggage rack by the back door - but make sure you keep an eye on your suitcases...this is public transportation after all. I'm a fan of the existence of this bus line, which was introduced late last year. $2.50 (or "free" if you have an unlimited Metrocard) beats any taxi service you can get! I imagine this is also the best thing ever for LGA employees who are commuting daily. There are only 3 stops in an endless loop: Woodside LIRR - 74th St - LGA. As with all buses, the schedule (http://web.mta.info/busco/schedules/q070cur.pdf) is inexact, but you won't have to wait more than 15 minutes. From one end to the other, expect a ride (realistically) of 20-30 minutes. - Woodside LIRR means you can connect to the 7 train, plus a majority of the LIRR commuter rail lines (10 minutes to Penn Station). - 74th St means you can connect to the 7 / E / F / M / R trains at Roosevelt Av. - LGA means you can connect to the world. The bus stop is clearly marked with wayfinding signage at LGA, but not so easy to find at the Woodside LIRR station. Walk under the smelly, pigeony overpass to the deepest, darkest part and there it is, on the south side of Roosevelt Avenue. Now listen up folks. I'm from freakin' eastern Kansas and you couldn't catch me riding a bus where I live (yes, we have them). But when I land at LaGuardia, the first thing I do is grab a week-long subway pass that also gets me free transportation over to the #7 line and all of those great restaurants in either direction, and dead simple access to Brooklyn, Manhattan or Flushing. What am I missing? Gee, I could pay $15 for a cab over to the #7 and maybe save myself 10 minutes. Maybe. Plus, I LOVE THE COMPANY OF PISSED OFF, BAD ATTITUDE CAB DRIVERS operating wrecks with no shocks, poor air conditioning and the occasional abusive cologne wearer (dude, no way that's covering up bad butt crack odor or your B.O.). Oh, yea, and I adore paying $55-60 to get into Manhattan before tip. And the dirtiest trick of all: you give a cabbie a $20 and tell them how much to give you back that includes a 20% tip and they take an extra dollar or two on top of it copping an attitude that they determine the tip amount. Please... Apparently I'm not alone in this bus thing. Last two trips I've taken the 70 from the #7 line over to the airport and lo and behold you find the guy you were waiting at the stop for the bus is also sitting near you in the Delta Club quaffing their free beer/wine and food ($25 to get in unless you pay $500 a year). Fast trip to La Guardia. 10 minutes from Jackson Heights station during morning rush hour. Loooog wait at La Guardia to return to Jackson Heights station at 11pm. The bus got full and then got crowded. The bus stop at Jackson Heights is RIGHT OUTSIDE the subway station. But there are two stops marked "Q70", about 20 feet from each other. Wait near the pink one with an airplane next to "Q70"--That's the express bus. Don't know where the other Q70 goes, but the driver was rather obnoxious when asked whether his bus would go to La Guardia. The Q70 bus is a convenient, economical way to get to LaGuardia. It runs frequently and has been on time when I have used it. The travel time from the Woodside LIRR/ 7 train station to terminal C at LGA is about 20 minutes. As it is a Select Bus, there is little if any wait at the one stop it does make at Jackson Heights as payment is done before you board. You won't find a cheaper, more convenient option; not having to deal with the expense and/or inconvenience of cabs, car services, parking, etc. cannot be beat, especially given the condition LaGuardia is in as of March 2017 (construction everywhere). I highly recommend this bus and would definitely use it again. The one thing that could make it better is the addition of some kind of shelter (even a basic one) in Woodside. As it is, you wait on the sidewalk underneath the LIRR and the elevated 7 train. If you don't watch out, as I did not my last time there, a pigeon might find a perch above you on one of those structures and let you know of its presence in a way you would rather it didn't. read more

I long hesitated to take any other form of transit other than taxis to get to LaGuardia. It's the same reason I'm still with Time Warner Cable: even though the status quo is bad, I'm afraid the alternative could be worse. But then one day I needed to get from Secaucus to LaGuardia for a flight. No way I was going to take a cab then, lest my taxi ride cost more than my plane ticket itself. Looking for alternatives, I turned to Yelp for answers. Fellow Yelpers did not disappoint (unlike TWC...). To my surprise, I managed to get from Secaucus to LaGuardia in... get this... 1 hour. This bus was part of that equation. Board from Jackson Heights next to Famous Famiglia. In 10 minutes you'll be at your terminal in LaGuardia. Think of how much money you'll be saving over taking a cab, or, if there's traffic, how much time. It's taken me more than an hour to get from Midtown to LGA in rush hour traffic and it cost me more than the requisite $40 cab fare. I very rarely take buses in NYC, and usually only take subways and walk. I have nothing against them, it's just that there is so much traffic and I find it faster to take to the rails. One day I needed to get to LaGuardia airport,, and did not want to spring the cash for a cab. So I used my trusty MTA app and found the most convenient route; Take the M train, and transfer to the Q70 Limited. I only had to wait about ten minutes, and the bus arrived. I got there early enough that I secured a seat, but even then the bus wasn't crowded to the point where anybody had to stand. This is a limited stop bus, and it takes you directly from the subway stop to the airport. It took a total of fifteen minutes with traffic to get there, and I was very pleased. I have rarely encountered such a great bus line, and it's right in my own back yard! I wish I had known about it much earlier. And for the price of $2.50, it's much cheaper than taking a cab. I still refuse to give it a perfect score, mostly because I find it ludicrous that there isn't a subway line that goes to one of the airports. Come on MTA, do the right thing and build one! This thing is FAST. I live a 10 min walk from Penn Station, and taking a cab at 5pm on a Sat night would have taken 10 mins longer than my Q70/LIRR Woodside to Penn adventure. From gate to home, 45 mins. Fast, no BS. Pick it up right out from of the LGA, one quick stop at Jackson Heights - 5 mins later you're at Woodside LIRR. I have saved hundreds of dollars and plenty of time in my 5-6 times taking the Q70. I would rather put that money towards fun travel rather than a nasty cab. read more

This bus definitely deserves it own Yelp page. Like many other reviewers, I was looking for a cheap and easy way to get from Manhattan to LaGuardia airport. After my co worker recommended this route I decided to give it a try. Yelp reviews only increased my confidence. I took the F train to Jackson heights station. After exiting the train, simply follow the signs to the Q70 bus, which are literally all over the place. You cannot miss the stop. There are a lot of signs. I showed up at 12:00PM on a Monday and there was already a line of about 20 people waiting for the bus. I waited for about 2 minutes and a bus showed up. The bus accommodated everyone and even had a small luggage rack. The ride from the train station to the airport was 10 minutes at most. Why 4 stars instead of 5, well some driver are better than others. On my way to the airport for example, the bus driver did not announce the terminals, so all of the passengers were left trying to figure out which was which. This caused some confusion. Me and a few other passengers got off at the wrong terminal, but luckily my terminal was connected and I was able to get there from where we had stopped. On the way back to the train station a few days later the driver was very helpful and even announced the train station and which trains to take to get into the city. He was very informative. I highly recommend this option when getting to LaGuardia. The bus takes the standard Metrocard and if you are coming from the Subway, the bus will accept the free transfer...so you end up paying $2.75 to get from midtown to LaGuardia. Since my company is doing the major upgrade to LGA. I have had the pleasure of taking this bus.. it is fast route to and from the airport.. But I have to say some not all of the bus drivers are very unpleasant like down right rude. It has changed now probably 6 to 8 months in.. I understand the the frustration but does not call for utterly just bad taste on the MTA.. read more
