I popped in to QCB Jewelers today with my best friend to get my engagement ring resized on our lunch break. I called earlier in the morning to make sure it would be okay to bring my ring in (and get a rough timeframe), and Craig was exceedingly helpful. Information you will want to have ready for a ring resizing: 1) Are you going smaller or bigger 2) What is the type of metal 3) Are there stones (I thought he meant on the band, excluding the center stone, but it helps them to know if you have any stone) In some cases, they are able to resize 1/2 a size bigger without using the laser, but this is also dependent on the thickness of your band. In these cases, they can usually do it the day of, but if the laser is needed, it will take a little more time. Despite the fact that I accidentally gave the wrong information over the phone, Craig didn't make me feel bad about my blunder. He measured my ring, and they determined it was a little smaller than a 4.50 (the Etsy seller we got it from said it would be made as a 4.75); this definitely explained why my circulation wasn't having a great time when I tried the ring on. We also measured my placeholder engagement ring that was supposedly a 4.75, and lo and behold, that one was actually a 4.75 (probably why my finger wasn't screeching with that one). He took my ring to the back to take a look at whether they would need to use the laser for resizing--due to the thickness of the band, they were able to stretch it immediately without the laser. Craig also asked if it would be okay for them to clean both the engagement ring and placeholder ring, and they came out stunning! $20 for resizing and a little lesson on not pressing the stone to put my ring on (it leaves oils and the residue accumulates to make your stone look foggy), and we were out of the store with 10 minutes to spare! This place is a serious gem, and I'll be back to work with them on the design of my wedding band. The customer service is impeccable--they treat each piece with such respect, even if it wasn't purchased from their storefront. They also have an adorable dog who wanders about, and it was just the best kind of experience. There's parking available in front of the shop, but you will want to be careful as you back up to exit (many of the drivers making a right onto the street speed up really fast and cause some close calls). If you need a place that will truly treat your jewelry like their own, QCB is the place for you! read more
