I think most people should be aware of what Qdoba or Chipotle are all about by now. Honestly Qdoba struggles in the flavor department. That's likely why they have so many options to enhance their burritos. Honestly, Chipotle isn't much better. That being said, Qdoba has the right idea by making EVERY one of those flavor options free. That's how it should be, and that's how they do it. The Hays Qdoba is clean, friendly, and quick. Their modernist furniture is uncomfortable as hell, but there's nothing here that will disappoint a familiar Qdoba diner. Three stars. If you compare that to regular fast food, think of this as a five star rating to McDonald's two stars. read more

The employees that work here have zero respect for their customers! I ordered a steak quesadilla, and after a few bites I determined that I actually received Barbacoa (pork). Not only did it taste like pork, but the meat was shredded inside when normally the steak is cubed and doesn't shred. I took my quesadilla back to the counter and asked for a steak one instead, and the cashier along with what appeared to be a supervisor argued with me for three minutes about how I was wrong instead of making a new one. On top of this, the person who made my quesadilla was on her phone and never took off her gloves when texting or playing on her phone. That alone was enough to disgust me (and it was clearly a health code violation) so I threw out the remainder of my quesadilla. First off... LOVE qdoba... or I should say I love Qdoba everywhere BUT in Hays! The manager was super rude! I told her at checkout that I had a free entree on my rewards-she replied that their rewards system was down and there was nothing she could do. No biggie-things happen-I get it. What I don't get is when she "forgot" to give me my chips on the side with my nachos, she literally dumped 1/2 a scoop full on my plate!?! EVERY other Qdoba I go to gives an entire tray on the side and even says if I run out to come up and get more! Clearly implying that chips can be given at all qdobas. NOT in Hays! When I asked her for more she said she'd give me a bag for $2!?? What the?!?! Worst Qdoba I have been to. The ICEBERG lettuce was brown. We went at 6:30 pm and they seemed to be closing up shop for the evening on a Saturday night. Out of everything, bowl was half full. When I asked for a little more dressing on my chicken mango salad (because the bottle was already empty and they were squeezing out a few drops) I was told that is how much they usually put on. Bad experience here. Rotten customer service. Refused to bring the food I ordered curbside to me, even though they could see I arrived in my very red car, and had only 1 customer the 15 minutes I was there waiting, in front of their faces. Why? The blonde girl that made my order was really rude and awful. Never greeted us as we came in, just stared at us. She couldn't even wrap a burrito and got upset that it was double wrapped so she unwrapped the second tortilla and dropped the burrito on the table. Once she finally made the burrito, she barely wrapped it in foil, put it in the bag, tossed it over the checkout spot and walked away without a word. She really shouldn't be working on the front line, she should probably be in the back cooking or cleaning the bathrooms. So rude and unpleasant probably won't be going back. read more

I wish Yelp had negative stars as this place would get a -10,000! 1. Bathrooms were disgusting and of course they don't have a dryer and were out of paper towels. 2. An employee slammed into me as i was trying to leave the bathroom with my wet hands... again no paper towels. 3. The line was to the door. It took me 35 minutes to get a kids meal & a salad. We stopped in for a quick lunch as we were heading home from Denver. The place was packed, but the line moved extremely fast. We are used to chipotle, but enjoyed this similar experience. We ordered a chicken taco salad, in the taco shell bowl and a mango salsa smothered burrito. You get to choose all of your ingredients and guacamole is not an additional cost here, a great deal! The food was fresh and tasty. The restaurant itself could have been a little cleaner; the garbage cans were overflowing and there were a lot of dirty tables. The ladies room only had toilet paper in one stall. I know it was a busy lunch hour, but they need to have an employee keeping the dining area clean and presentable. Don't get me wrong. I love the Wichita Qdobas and so on my way home I grabbed QDOBA in Hays. I found a hair in my burrito bowl as soon as I opened it. It was a shorter black hair. I let it go because sometimes it happens. Open my chips and the third one I pull out has another hair just like the other one. At that point I'm no longer hungry because I don't want to eat hair. They also put brown lettuce on my bowl. I love their food but they need to be more observant. read more

Solid effort. Was very glad to find that a qdoba had arrived in hays. We visit family in Hays on an ~annual basis and struggle with dining options normally! Qdoba is not Chipotle, never will be no matter how much they try! But... for a fast food store in Hays this is exceptional!! This Quedoba blew me away! The food was well prepared and my to-go order was packaged accurately and nicely. Since the staff was top-notch I couldn't wait to leave a tip (knowing that I was carrying cash, which is rare for me). To my great disappoint I reached the register and found no tip jar! (What?!?!) I found this to be greatly concerning since many of our servers in this town are students, and as such grand supporters of this community. Is it not right that we support them with our patronage and generous tips? I do so believe this. The cost of education continues to be a great investment students make, and I for one am thankful they chose to come to Hays. I hope next time I visit I will be able to leave the well deserved tip the staff earned for going above and beyond! read more

Then I saw a gentleman organizing the employees and I asked what his name was and all they said was "Scottie". I am a die-hard Chipotle fan, and while this is not Chipotle, it's the closest thing I can get to the burritos I love the most. Don't get me wrong, I'm not saying that it's a bad place, I'm just a big Chipotle fan. This place is excellent. I haven't had one bad experience there. The food is excellent. The service is great. This Qdoba restaurant was incredibly dirty and messy. The young gals preparing orders couldn't manage to keep their prep line clean. One line person dumped half a scoop of my black beans on the counter, then pushed to them floor. This place has fallen so far in such a short amount of time. The first time I went in it was awesome I am not a fan of pico, but it was fresh and very good. I went in a couple days ago for some lunch and it was gross. Not only was the pico juicy and smashed in with the other veggies, but the staff was terrible. The guy that greeted me even sneezed into his arm and did not change his gloves or wash his hands. The Ingredients on my burrito were all smashed together, and I could see that the back area of the restaurant was terrible and not clean. I know this place has been open only for a few weeks, but I haven't seen any one out cleaning the dining area. The table and the floor need to have some attention. My food requests were not answered as politely as they could have been, and the preparation of the food being served to me could not be placed differently simply because the employee did not "feel like" doing the small task. Ok, Hays, KS location is a joke! This is the third time in a row I have gone to pick up food there on Saturday night at 9:00 pm and they are out of fajita vegetables! Well, they are not out, they just don't want to make any more! The 1st time this happened, the cook rolled his eyes, threw back his head and begrudgingly "threw" some on the grill, in cut. The pieces were huge and cold in the middle when served and when I got home the wife was not happy! The last time, they wouldn't make any more, at 9:16!!!!! Tonight, same story. "We just had a bus" was the excuse, though there was nearly no one in the store and it was only 8:56! I asked how late they were open and reply was "10:00". This time I walked out with nothing. They had bunches of food containers with food in plastic bags sitting on the counter instead of in the warmers! My son went ahead and got a burrito bowl. When we got home the meat in his bowl was refrigerator cold! WTF? Too bad a few lazy "kids " are screwing up your business as Qdoba's is known for good food but not here in Hays, KS, at least not any more! Sad! read more

We stopped by to eat here on Saturday night and my whole family got sick! Some of us had chicken and others had steak but everyone had their black beans and white rice and everyone has vomited from this meal. 2 toddlers, 2 teenagers and 2 adults. I called to ask if they were participating in a special offer that other qdoba's were participating in (mid-week buddy pass; buy one-get one free entree for 2 days only) and the guy answering the phone said he was not sure & his manager wasn't there to ask. I had to ask when the manager would be in and he told me the manager was gone for the day. Less than convenient when the staff don't even know if they are participating in a chain-wide promotion.
