Ever want to eat at a Buffet with the post apocalypse feel. Then this is your place. Ate here in college back in 2006 and it was straight fire. However that may have been the last time they also did any repairs to the establishment. From the outside looks like its shut down. Went inside to eat and it was the worst I've Chienes I've had. We came here late one night while visiting, we were nervous we wouldn't get in, but the staff was soo nice & welcoming. Food was delicious, because it was so late we decide to order off the menu instead of the buffet. The food was fresh & plenty. Clean & nice vibe inside. I've been going to QQ Buffet for years. I personally love their black pepper chicken. It's worth the trip just for that. I don't eat everything on the buffet so I can't speak to all items but what I do get, I enjoy. Their baked seafood, shrimp scampi (when they have it), teriyaki chicken are all good. I understand the criticism of the facilities not being updated and being a little run down. The argument that the food is cold could be the time of day that you dine. I always make sure I go at peak lunch/dinner times to avoid that possibility. With all being said, I almost always have a good if not great dining experience. read more

Expensive food was terrible, cold, old dryed out. Dinning room unclean and run down scares me to think what the kitchen looks like if they allow what is seen by the public to be in that shape. Went for dinner last night, 4 adults and 3 kids, everybody got 1 plate of food and it was absolutely disgusting, there was rotted meat on every plate, half of it was cold and had been sitting there quite a while, when I said something to the host she said we'd have to speak to the manager which I informed of the food and she said we was the only one with problems and I told her we were not paying for this type of food, she got irate and threatened to call police to which one party of our group decided to pay for it all, multiple reviews on Google last couple weeks have claimed of food poisoning and nasty food as well, if it could have negative stars that's what it would be read more

Going to QQ has become a yearly Christmas Eve tradition within the family. It's a tradition so I haven't been able to convince anyone to try a different Chinese restaurant though I try my hardest every year. QQ has a pretty good variety but even for a buffet it's not as fresh as it should be. Stale dry rice and noodles and always empty treys of meats you have to ask to be replaced. A lot of their foods are always soaking in very watery juices, rather drowning. They are very on top of drink refills and bussing your table, however. They carry Pepsi products, no matter how many times they say it's Coke. The response when you ask "which do you have coke or Pepsi?" "Yes". It was a painfully annoying conversation. Also, be careful of the booths. They aren't secure to the floor. I nearly flipped one over getting up. Maybe if I had I would have got my mediocre stale buffet comped. I'll keep trying and one day hopefully I can change the minds of the stubborn and try a new place. read more

Found a rock in my egg roll. Which, i am fully aware that "Stuff Happens." But after giving the rock to my server i pushed my food away i waited at the table for someone to come and apologize to me. After an infuriating five minutes at the table I proceeded to go to the register. I was made to understand she didn't know about it and offered no apology. But there would be no charge for my meal. I insisted my guest didn't need to pay either as her meal had also been disrupted. She told me to wait for the manager. (which had already been made aware of the rock, after the server had told him promptly after i delivered the rock to him) I waited another extremely aggravating five minutes for someone to truly apologize about the issue and give my guest her meal for free. And we left without paying and no true apology as the cashier followed us out insisting my guest should pay for hers...POOR CUSTOMER SERVICE. There is right way to deal with things, and wrong way to deal with things. This should have been an urgent issue for the manager. read more

Not sure in what culture or country it is okay to shove a child, especially a customers child but most definitely not ok. One of the employees pushed my niece away from the ice cream cooler and slammed it shut. Of course she cried. We have been coming here her entire life there is no reason why she can't grab her own container of ice cream like she has on every other visit. Absolutely not ok. When I go to Chinese Buffet places I usually go in with a low exception and the QQ Buffet didn't do anything to change my view. The dining area has plenty of seating and the decor is just okay. As with most buffets it is clearly set up with the mind set of, "get them in, get them out, and don't make it too comfortable for them." As for cleanliness, well, it's a Chinese Buffet, you come here at your own risk and it's probably a good thing you can't see the kitchen. I went here with Kwoky L. and we slightly disagree on the approval of QQ Buffet. I am actually from Mattoon, IL and did not know what great Chinese food should taste like until I moved to Chicago. For a small 19,000 population like Mattoon, I would have to say that QQ is an okay place to eat Chinese food, if not the best place in the Mattoon/Charleston area. I found their selection to be much larger than other buffets in the area. I was astonished to see the sushi table as part of the buffet and it tasted somewhat fresh to me. I cannot stand any fishy taste in my seafood (that's why I love San Francisco). The sushi and the mussels were good enough for me to eat. I really enjoyed the crab rangoon. I know, I know. Crab rangoon isn't Chinese. I still like it. So, overall against Chicago, QQ Buffet may not be the best Chinese restaurant, but for Central IL, it is one of the best. I would go here again and again. My parents like this place so for a while we went regularly. Personally I don't do buffet. I know exactly what I want and order off the menu. For a while, there was one waitress who always remembered my regular order and that was great. One visit we went there and that waitress must have been off for the day. A young woman came by with silverware and I gave her my order and she smiled and nodded After a while someone else came by to check on us and asked if I needed anything. I said no and that I had given the other woman my order. Well it turns out that she didn't speak English and had no idea what I had said to her. They put it my order at that time and I had to get it to go because we had other places to be. When I was paying they asked me how things were and I explained 6 make excuses. I recently went to Chipotle and I had to wait 30 seconds extra and they made my burrito free unprompted. I didn't expect a free meal from QQ though a discount would have been nice and an APOLOGY goes a long way. I will never go back there again. read more

Happened to find this place behind the Cracker Barrel on our drive home to Chicago on I-57 on 3/26/2017. Since it was lunchtime Sunday, we could not even find a parking space at the Cracker Barrel fronting the main drag thru town. Happily, my dad spotted this place in a strip mall behind the Cracker Barrel. There was some parking still available in front of the Q Q Buffet, and although crowded, some seating available inside. A decent Chinese Buffet with a wide selection of tasty entrees, sides, salads, and desserts (even some sushi) for a VERY reasonable $10 each including drinks. read more

There is a reason why I don't expect anything spectacular out of a Chinese buffet. Because I never had. The selection is pretty big for a restaurant in a tiny town. They have a lot of chicken dishes, some seafood, salmon which people hardly touch and surprisingly, sushi (with cooked fillings). Had been here several times over the last 7 years and always good. Not tonight, came with a local group and wondered why was this place dead on a Saturday night, soon found out why. I tried every chicken dish and none were even good, some blah, the black pepper chicken was cold, the rest barely edible. Egg rolls were great by the way, rice was good, but hard to mess that up.
