Service was great. Food was great, but wish the mac & cheese was a little cheesier but overall great visit.

What a beautiful find. Tiny store front. Nothing special about the place. Everything is special…read moreabout the owner/chef who is always there. Max is talented beyond belief. The food, service, great $40 wines that would be $100 in another setting. Home made Gelato that makes me beg for more. Scallops and shrimp arribiata. The best I have ever had. Max will make a thin & crispy crust pizza that is spectacular. I almost hate providing this honest review. They have been reproducing excellence in food, service and value for 10 years.

The restaurant was advertised as being open for two more hours. They were slow so they decided to close early. Called to place an order. They asked when could we get there cause they were ready to go. Annoyed that I called and wanted to spend money. 2) Called about having an after funeral reception there. I said I wasn't sure how many people would be coming. Maybe 15. I was told 15-20 was fine but 25 was not ok. And the owner said I needed to call him the day of the funeral as early as possible to let him know exactly how many people were coming. I understand. It's a small place. But on the day of a funeral I don't have that kind of time.. Finally, we got a head count. I called to let him know we were coming and how many. I then asked if they offered a military discount. My family is all military. We are burying a vet. He said no discount. So I said ok well I'm going to reach out to another venue to see if they do and I'll get back to you. At this point he berated me. He told me it was disrespectful to call another place. He said he had military in his family. But it didn't matter. He told me it was rude to want to try another place trying to get a discount. I told him the love we had for his company. How I had family members who worked for him. Who followed him from one restaurant to his current restaurant. And still he acted like I was horrible for wanting to shop around for a group event! Never ever will I give this man or his family our money! There's no compassion. No heart. It's Italian food! It's suppose to come from the soul. Well there's no soul here. If the owner had said that's ok. Just let me know. We wouldve gone with them regardless because we love the food so much. But no more. I cannot put money in the pockets of a man so greedy. So uncompassionate. Have a heart. Care about your customers. You're food could be crap. But if you have heart they'll look past it.

Zucchini Fritti-I will say, this was a miss for us. It's the only item we didn't love 150%.

TASTE has quickly become one of my absolute favorite spots in Suffolk. I've loved just about…read moreeverything I've tried on the menu, and this visit was no exception. I stopped by on a Sunday afternoon after church and ordered the chicken salad sandwich (Freemason). Fresh, flavorful, and exactly what I was craving. When the weather's nice, I always try to grab a seat on the patio. It's such a relaxing spot to enjoy a good meal and soak up a little sunshine. Also, I have to shout out their potato salad is one of the best around. Creamy, just the right amount of seasoning, and always hits the spot. TASTE is the kind of place that makes you proud to support a growing local chain. Great food, great atmosphere, and always a solid experience.

Based on visits over the past 5 years, which have been spaced further and further apart, I was hesitant. And my hesitancy proved to have been warranted. Husband's Northender on Multi grain My Princess Anne also on multi grain. Bread was so dry and stale that I simply struggled to eat the filling. The tomatoes were that hard, white inner core that most people would not feature on a sandwich. Finally in frustration I walked up and asked for a slice of baguette, which was the main meal's only redemption. Let's not even talk about what has become barely a step up from snack pack desserts. Both my (Bakehouse--oh my gosh, are they kidding?) gold brownie and my husband's blueberry mishmash had one bite from them before they too went straight into the trash. (Both tasted more of chemical, than of food) Sadly, what used to be one of our favorite weekly visits pre-Covid, has become less than lackluster, and far from its name. Rather it should be renamed yet again, from the original, Taste Unlimited, to Taste and now should be called, Tasteless. For the price of $50, one would think the meal would at least be edible. Hopefully this review will help me remember why we stopped going. Definitely do not recommend.

Our second time here and it was wonderful again…read more First our server, Heather. She was as sweet as our tea. On that note she was very attentive and kept checking on us and kept our sweet teas full. Sorry no pictures today. But my Ham Steak (Farmers Breakfast) with eggs, potatoes and English muffins was very good and a decent size for the price. Wifey had the Windsor. She tells me she liked it. The place was fairly full at about 11:00 AM, but we still received our hot meals in maybe 10 minutes. I highly recommend this Smithfield location. I understand they have a new location currently under construction in Newport News. Really hope they maintain that one as well as this one. So go enjoy yourself a nice breakfast.

My husband had the gluten-free pancakes and he really enjoyed them. He also got their grilled pork chops which he liked. Their coffee is amazing, strong and hot! We shared the pecan Dijon salad. It was okay. We got a side of fries...hot and just the right amount fit salt. It's a very popular spot as we had to wait a little to be seated. But it is truly worth the wait! We will definitely be back!!

We received very attentive service from our server Sonya and the pizzas we ordered were superb. Their chicken-cheddar-ranch pizza is something I have not seen anywhere else. It came loaded with cheese, tomatoes, and chunks of white meat chicken - the crust was delicious, as well. The Greek pizza was also generously topped with feta, tomatoes, spinach, and cheese. I was also very happy to see that the Greek pizza comes with Kalamata olives, rather than black olives, making it a more authentic Greek pizza in my opinion. The "small" 12-inch pizzas were each more than enough to feed two people. My glass of soft drink was never allowed to get more than half empty before our server was back to refill it for me. Sals's gave us a terrific lunch experience.the
