I couldn't decide between the fried shrimp, fried chicken, fried pork chops, liver, or turkey wings, so I asked the waiter which item was most popular. She recommended the turkey wings, so I went with that. I like my turkey wings well done and nicely browned, and I specifically requested the brownest ones in the batch. She told me they had just come out and were well done. When I got home, only the top wing was browned--the one underneath wasn't--which was frustrating since I made a very specific request. She also seemed to have a slight attitude about the request, which didn't help. The turkey wings themselves were just okay. The cabbage could've used more seasoning, but the white rice and gravy were good. Unfortunately, the cornbread that was supposed to come with the meal was missing. I placed a takeout order and experienced an unacceptable wait time of over one hour with very little communication regarding the status of my food. Throughout the wait, I received no meaningful updates from the server, despite being one of the last customers remaining in the restaurant. The server appeared to be the only employee handling customers and moved very slowly, which further contributed to the delay. While waiting, I observed several concerning issues that reflected poorly on the restaurant's professionalism and food service standards. Kitchen staff were openly arguing and using inappropriate language, including profanity, within earshot of customers. This behavior created an uncomfortable environment and was highly unprofessional. Additionally, I observed staff members walking around while wearing gloves and touching various surfaces and items before handling food. This raised concerns regarding proper food safety and sanitation practices. After waiting more than an hour, I finally received my order only to discover that the food was cold and one of the items I paid for was missing entirely. Despite the lengthy delay, poor service, and missing item, no apology was offered by any member of the staff. I ultimately left the restaurant with an $87 bill and a completely unsatisfactory experience. As a paying customer, I expected better communication, professionalism, food quality, and customer service. Unfortunately, none of these expectations were met. I am requesting that management review this incident and provide an appropriate response regarding the concerns outlined above. I would also appreciate consideration of a refund, credit, or other resolution given the significant issues with my order and overall experience. Thank you for your attention to this matter. Last time I ate there was a few years ago, and I enjoyed the meals ordered, so I decided to order takeout. Mistake. My order was missing the entree and sides. The house salad came with cheese but I asked for no cheese. Asked for salad dressing, but no dressing. Did receive the cole slaw and cornbread. They were OK. The driver was also frustrated because they were told I was receiving a substitute (there was none) so it was a disappointing order, and it took over an hour to arrive. And that I would be refunded. I've eaten at restaurants that have boasted of serving southern style food and absolutely NONE of them have even remotely come close until today when I ate at Southern Comfort. The soul rolls, honey buttered biscuits and cornbread, fried chicken, collard greens and candied yams were absolutely FYE! Lawd... my compliments to the chef because they absolutely put their whole foot in the food (For the unaware, it means they cooked the food perfectly). And to Jecca, the lovely waitress who is a woman of many hats that does it all, was superb in serving us. The Strawberry Henny Drop drink was HITTING! I had 2 lol. The ambiance was nice. I called to. place an order and I was told I had to pay by card over the phone. My response was I am paying by cash when I get there. So, I get there at 9:42 and was told the kitchen was closed at 9:30. That should have been said over the phone I was told they were out of alot of sides, but turkey wings were still available. We were visiting family and family recommended this place for their chicken wings. So decided to check it out and specifically get the chicken wings. The chicken wings were huge! The collard greens were seasoned well and went real good with the cornbread. The best part was the crab dip! I definitely go back just to order the crab dip. Customer service was great and ambiance was chill. 4 stars because the potato salad wasn't too great. It was a little too mustardy for me that it was overbearing. I want to be fair. The one server in the whole restaurant was nice and the food was good. One server on Juneteenth is insane. Also heads up, no alcohol which was disappointing. So if you want a drink with your food, opt out. It took 50 minutes for our food to come out and it was only one other table when we got there. I sought this place out because i wanted to support a black owned restaurant on Juneteenth but im remorseful; i want better for us truly. Seems unorganized, poor / under staffing and again for it to be Juneteenth; why no specials or acknowledgment. You don't see this energy from other cultures on cinco de mayo or st Patrick's day so its very disappointing but i blame myself because if thats what i wanted i should have sought out a restaurant honoring the holiday but regardless it was just sad. It took a while for the server to come over (they weren't busy). She was very pleasant and took our orders. I will tell you they are NOT fast! The drinks came which were mediocre (2 of us tried the southern comfort punch). Now the food on the other hand was good! If you like your food seasoned this is where it's at! Father's Day June 16, 2025, 1030 AM My wife waited at the front of the line for approximately 20 minutes, only to be informed that it would take an additional 45 minutes to be seated. This was despite the fact that nearly 40% of the tables were visibly unoccupied. We were told the delay was due to a backlog in the kitchen, so we continued to wait. While I consider myself a patient person, my patience wore thin when I saw two individuals--identified by staff as regulars--walk past the line and be seated immediately. It became evident that the staff was overwhelmed, and the restaurant's service process was in need of serious improvement. Customers choose restaurants not only for the food but also for the service--both are equally important. While I won't comment on the food, as this was our first visit, I can say that the service left much to be desired. Frustrated, my wife and I decided to leave. As we exited, we passed a line of more than 30 people still waiting. Interestingly, another couple followed us out. Hubby genuinely loved his turkey wings and sides. He kept stating he's not going to be able to finish this meal because it was so much! He almost finished that meal! Service: Too slow. It took just about 1 hour from the time I ordered on a Saturday at 5:30 PM until it was ready. Food: Catfish dinner, Fried Turkey Chop, and Meatloaf Dinner.
