Randy came and shut off the water and called to order a new Gas hot water heater with power vent. He ordered a commercial grade water heater which is made better and will last longer. I appreciated that. He & Bobby were at our home the following morning before 8:00am to install the new gas hot water heater. I had been told by another plumbing & heating company that I would need to have a new sewer line installed outside due to the terra cotta pipes slipping and trapping the toilet paper & waste. I had asked that company twice to give me an estimate but they never did. Randy used his camera to look and he showed me that I could wait a year. We also had 2 water pipes in our front yard that stuck out of the ground with grass all around them. Our house is very old and use to be a duplex which is why there are 2 water pipes. We could not mow over them. I asked Randy if the pipes could be lowered. He checked them then called the Williamsport Water Authority and told them of our situation. The following day 2 fellas from the Water Authority came and lowered the pipes and replaced one broken cap. We had also been told that we needed to have a new chimney installed. Since Randy is a Master Plumber he said that we did not need a new chimney because our furnace and gas hot water heater both have a power source that vents outside which is sufficient. Overall, very pleased with Randy at Pipe Doctor. Would absolutely recommend this company!

When we would call Hepler would tell us to turn the unit off and back on and the fault code would clear. This went on for a number of years and finally I called another contractor who discovered the cause of the fault. Because we never experienced the reduction in electric consumption and Hepler always ignored our request for an explanation the new contractor looked into the situation. The new contractor discovered that Hepler installed only three wells instead of the five required for the size of our WaterFurnace unit. I wrote to Hepler asking them to correct the problem but they have never responded. It was necessary for us to have two wells and a new unit installed at a cost of $30,000. I would never use Hepler again, would you?

Most often when I called Hepler they would instruct me to turn the breakers off and back on which would clear the fault. Eleven years after the unit was installed the fault code occurred twice in the same week and I called another contractor who diagnosed the problem and estimated the cost to repair at $4,000. I asked about my unusually high electric consumption and he asked to see my contract with Hepler. He informed me that Hepler failed to install the correct number of wells which would cause the resistance heat to energize in periods of cold temperatures. I asked another contractor who agreed with the first contractor's diagnosis that our system was two wells short.I wrote two letters to Hepler and they failed to respond . We placed our trust in the Heplers and they have proven that it was misplaced.
