Todd is the best! A neighbor of mine recommended him when our cat had been stuck up in a tree for two days and two nights. After calling him late in the day on a Friday, he called us right back and was out to our house within an hour or so, after working all day on other jobs. Henry knows what he's doing. He trimmed up a young pear tree which had fire blight a year ago and it is now thriving. He was very responsive, even came a couple weeks earlier than our appointment to take out a small evergreen to give us a Christmas tree! His bid was competitively priced (I got 4 bids), he was completely accurate with his bid and his crew did competent, fast, very clean/tidy work. He worked alongside the crew and supervised it all. I had a large Ash tree removed, along with lots of tree trimming around my property. Henry gave a very reasonable quote for the work. His crew showed up on time, supervised by the foreman, Todd. Amazing what they did in under 4 hours. Everything was chipped up and left in neat piles. Twigs and scraps were gathered up using a blower. The experience began with a consultation by Henry, the owner and a knowledgable arborist. He counseled me about the permit process and spoke to the city arborist, saving me time and money. The price of the consultation was applied toward the cost of the tree removal. I got three quotes and Quality Arbor Care responded promptly and their prices were the best. Todd, the good-looking foreman and his crew were polite, friendly, and helpful. They were professional and hard working as they removed a three-story high deceased walnut tree (quite impressive to watch!). They took great care not to damage any other plants or hedges. And if that were not already incredible enough, the crew did an excellent job with the clean up. There was no extra fee for them to discard the deceased wood. This review is more for customer service as I didn't get a chance to even get an estimate. I scheduled two weeks ago for a quote from Henry who was referred to me by a landscaping company. We just bought a house in Boulder Creek on an acre of land, most of it redwoods, douglas fir and other smaller trees. Today was supposed to be our appointment and I received a call yesterday from their office saying that they normally don't travel that far and they had a few questions. Now, Capitola to Boulder Creek isn't that far in my opinion, but they said it was hard to get trucks up here. Ok. Then she said Henry would come out for a quote only if it was a full day of work and that I was willing to hire someone licensed, bonded and insured. I found this quite insulting as if everyone in Boulder Creek in hill folk and cheap. We just moved in and I have had to have estimates done for tree, yard and fencing and this was the first that made me feel like they were not interested. I said the project would only be a few hours (I have no idea how long really) and she told me to check out other Boulder Creek services that would be much cheaper than theirs. Ok. That is a shame. This is probably a half day project right now at most (cutting down about 5-6 small to medium trees to get more sun and to prepare for our fence installation), but we will need continuing service. I have no idea how fast they work or how many workers they have to know if it is a full day or not. My house is on the 9 with great road access and a huge driveway. The guy who referred me is in my area so it surprised me he would recommend someone who wasn't willing to come to Boulder Creek. I am not even passed the town. I am sure the company has wasted time on others who did not use their service or thought the quote was too high, but we are willing to pay for good service and will be looking elsewhere for sure. The work was expertly done, the trees are exactly the height and shape I envisioned, and they worked efficiently and competently, thoroughly cleaning any debris that fell in neighbors' yards. They were kind, respectful of my property, and even took out another tree that I realized needed removal for just a small fee over the original estimate.
