QBH has a lot of therapists and they are well qualified. There are several problems though. While they get you in right away good luck with rescheduling. You can wait up to a month for a follow up because they book up appointments so far out. Therapists tell you they don't see people every week. This is ok if someone isn't in need of every week and only have mild issues. Many of the therapists only do phonecalls, apparently they don't do online visual, because it costs money for the practice. read more

When we were looking for care for our teen daughter who had attempted to take her life, QBH was recommended. The doctor that we saw was well versed in pediatric care and prescribed a change in meds that our daughter continues to find helpful as an adult. During the school year, weekend appointments were extremely helpful and appreciated. As an educator I often recommended QBH to parents of elementary aged children who were looking for help. Our interactions with the office staff upstairs were always pleasant, friendly and efficient, On the rare occasion we had to deal with office staff on the first floor, while efficient, they didn't always present with a pleasant, friendly demeanor. read more

I have recently started at Quality Behavioral Health and I will say so far I have not one complaint. It started when I spoke to Jesse in Intake who set me up with an appointment. When I came into the office for the first time to meet the Dr, there was such a sweet blonde women named Donna who had given me my paperwork and asked me how my morning was going so far. I explained other then getting lost on my way here so far so good. I then meet with Tara who was absolutely amazing and would recommend her to anyone. I agree with the last post. Dr. Ruggiano should seriously consider retiring. Right off the bat he told me I don't "look like I have problems." Or, maybe Dr. Ruggiano is so preternaturally talented, he can actually see mental illness? I was in a bind for a psychiatrist appointment as my former psychiatrist retired; I called Quality Behavioral Health and was pleasantly surprised/relieved to get an appointment relatively quickly. Many places have 6-8 week waiting periods to see a psychiatrist, and again, I was in a bind. I got an appointment with Dr. Ruggiano and a therapy appointment with Joyce. I saw Joyce a few times -she's nice but the connection just wasn't there. I saw her mostly so I could get to see Dr. Ruggiano but boy, what a let down. Aside from telling me I don't look like I have problems, Ruggiano also claimed I don't trust people, and then prescribed me Lamotrigine. Ruggiano could barely be bothered to ask me about my medical history, but his incompetence left me at a loss for words anyway, so it worked out. Thank you for absolutely nada, Dr. Ruggiano. That appointment was at 8:30 am too, what a waste of an early wake up. I now go to the Kent Center in Warwick and my new psychiatrist is wonderful (listens to what I have to say, has feedback, and the initial appointment was an hour and a half vs 20 minutes at QBH). Another off putting aspect of QBH are the appointment times and waiting. Yes, they were able to get me in but the few times I saw Joyce, I showed up on time (few minutes early) and yet I'd spend 15-20 minutes past the appointment time waiting for her to come and get me. It got to the point where I wondered if I had the day wrong, or she forgot. Overall, my experience was zero stars but since Yelp! has a one star minimum, they get 1 dwindling star. If you're searching for a psychiatrist, pass on this place, especially Dr. Ruggiano. read more

Very unprofessional. The workers at the front desk have been rude since the first appointment, and have always placed the fault of any misunderstandings with me rather than admitting that they have been unclear with their unfair policies and inconvenience of not responding to phone calls and often not answering the phone at all. Everyone seems very unequipped socially to deal adults struggling with mental illness that take care of their appointments themselves rather than patients that show up with a healthy relative who handles everything for them, and get easily frustrated, making the experience far more stressful. Very quick to prescribe pills, but extremely forgetful when it comes to a patient's medical history and safety. Dr. Jacobs took none of my other medications or conditions into consideration when choosing a new medication out of a hat at random and saying 'try this' and completely neglected the mental health issues that I was more concerned about for ones that were more easily handed medication for. Absolutely not worth the copay, always running off-schedule, and hardly more effective than using a quiz on facebook to seek help. Lack of their attentiveness with my medications has put me in the emergency room. 0/10 would rather suffer in silence. read more

I moved too far away from my treatment team of 8 years and wanted to continue care closer to my new home, so I tried QBH. Michelle was a good therapist, and I can forgive the front desk staff for being unorganized, however: Deb, after begrudgingly starting my appointment 15 minutes late like I was just an inconvenience, and only speaking to me for mere minutes, insulted me, my family and friends, and the treatment team that saved my life, saying that she couldn't understand how anyone could diagnose me with what I have and give me medicine to help me survive. After over 11 years of slow and painful progress, trial and error, multiple professionals agreeing with my diagnoses and helping me succeed, and finally improving enough to live a "normal" life, she wanted to take it all away because her first impression of me didn't fit her ableist stereotypes (probably due to being effectively treated with medicine!). She also attempted multiple times to put me on a third sleeping pill, despite my saying no multiple times, and kept interrupting me to bring it up again... That's not just extremely unprofessional, but dangerous and unethical. She has people's lives in her hands and yet has no problem with being that dismissive of a patient's medical needs. That's like someone seeing me in leggings and sneakers and deciding that I can't possibly have asthma. Thankfully I've recovered enough from my illnesses to care about myself enough to seek proper care, so I went somewhere else as I started showing withdrawal symptoms. They said they weren't surprised and that this has happened several times to people who went to QBH. TL;DR: If you don't "look sick enough" anymore due to your medicine helping you survive, be prepared to have it all taken away. I'd rather drive an hour and a half and use up all my PTO at work (the job I would have lost if Deb was my only option) than be treated at a facility that encourages that kind of behavior. read more

My wife and I have both been patients at this practice for quite some time. Maybe we have been luckier than the previous posters, but I have not found it to be that bad. We have received good care from Drs. Kisch and Ruggiano, as well as as Joyce and Pat D for counseling. They have managed to keep us out of inpatient hospitalization which is quite remarkable. The office manager Judy is a very nice lady, as is Nancy who handles the billing. Three stars only for the following reasons: I don't like the no drink policy. If its just water, why not? My mouth gets dry from the medications that I take. Certain providers are ALWAYS LATE. If this were my job, I would have been fired for sure. Las, there are a couple of staff who didn't not seem to like it there, or are just rude If they are having a bad day, they need to learn how to fake it. If you have the right counselor and doctor, you will do fine, but be forewarned about the other things. read more

I saw the BEST therapist there and then 2 days later I met Dr. Sappington who is by far the best psychiatrist I have EVER seen. He has a lot of experience and helps all people from straight edge to those of us in Drug/Alcohol recovery. This Doctor saved my life after the first visit. His main concern is to make sure the patient is comfortable and gets what they actually need. No judgment zone with Dr. Sappington. Highly recommended! I'm 31 and have seen many psychiatrists but not one of them compare to him and his vast experience in the field. If your in RI and need a new, better, or perfect psychiatrist than this place, mainly this Dr. Sappington, is who you need to see. My initial visit wasn't pleasant the place was dark and rather cold. I had my second visit on zoom with Dr Jacobs i believe who was very rude. I was having trouble hearing him on zoom while getting connected, and he immediately took on a very short tone impatiently raising his voice when asking if i was still having trouble hearing him. My daughter has a stomach bug and their automated system does not have options for canceling a Monday appointment over the weekend. They proceeded to cancel all of her future appointments until I could get her pediatrician to send a faxed doctors note. They canceled an appointment that she had had for almost a month with the behavioral pediatrician and proceeded to immediately give the appointment to someone else. They refuse to fix what they did and they do not care that my 6 year old has been vomiting all weekend. I absolutely refuse to bring my daughter back to their office. I am a new patient, I have never seen a a place so unprofessional. There are a few downs about this place and I will list them 1, In order to use the bathrooms you must ask for a key. The bathrooms are located on the first floor as the second floor has staff only restrooms. So if you have to take a crap or have a few seconds before a volcano eruption, You are partly screwed. 2, There are 2 signs, One says no food or drinks but this is the only clinic I have ever seen to not allow water. Basically if you are medication that causes dry mouth you will likely leave with cotton mouth. The other is an annoying sign for parents to keep arm length eye on children. 3, While I do not have children, I noticed all children's books are located behind the desk and you must ask to borrow them. Apparently we are assumed book thieves that slide books between the crack of our ass and walk out unoticed. While my husband and I have conveniently showed up a good 40 minutes before the confirmed appointment they still managed to run late and off schedule and by the time we are called I'm entertaining myself by sitting in my chair upside down staring at the ceiling. Also note that if you do not confirm the appointment it will be cancelled because in their eyes we ghost them. Today is Halloween and the office is in the holiday spirit and while that is perfectly okay I find it very unprofessional to have all staff stand around in the waiting room to lolly dag and take photos during hours that also have a good handful of people waiting to be seen. The office staff and the behavioral staff ( Psychiatrists, Counselors and therapists ) are extremely attentive to patient needs. I feel relaxed and open in discussion with all staff. When I check in Erin always greets me by my name with a great big smile. My therapist Wanesh always listens to me and often spends extra time with me during my appointments, never has cut me short when my time is up. My psychologist Cheryl is extremely professional, she follows up with my therapist and remembers our sessions and conversations even when they are weeks or months apart. She regulates my meds so they and not too little or too great, with regular tests of my levels. read more

If I could give this company 0 stars I would. I called on 6.6.18 at 3pm to make my son an appointment to be seen which was scheduled for 6.7.18 at 5:00pm. My husband contacted me on 6.7.18 at 9:30am to advise me that he was stuck at work because someone pulled a no call no show and wouldn't be available to watch our other children. I called QBH at 9:45am to advise them I needed to reschedule due to the unforeseen circumstance. I advised them I only made the appointment the day before so I did not have enough time (obviously) to call the day prior to the appointment to reschedule. They advised they were still charging me a $50.00 fee for calling to reschedule the day of the appointment and that I could not reschedule and appointment until the $50 was paid and that my appointment scheduled for my son on 6.22.18 would be canceled until I paid the $50.00. I was never informed by the initial employee that I spoke with of this charge. If I had made this appointment a few days prior, and then I canceled the same day of the appointment I would happily pay $50.00 fee. However I had only made the appt 1 day prior to the appt date. Cheryl Hanes is who this review is about. This woman has some nerve. Every appointment we would go to we would wait at least 15 to 20 mins. Fine we accepted that. On october 31 she had a 230 appointment. We got there at 220 at 255 she was still in with another patient the sessions are a half hour and my daughter had to be at work at 330. I knocked on the door at 255 and she opened up put her finger up for me to wait and closed the door. So we had to leave by 305 for her to get to work on time. This woman never even gave us an apology or explanation and had the nerve to bill us 95.00 for a no show that she keeps sending me even though I called the office and explained she was the no show. She is obviously money hungry and doesnt care about her patient. I kind of knew that because every visit before she would even start talking she'd ask for the copays. Very unprofessional . My daughter saw her for over a year and not once did we ever miss an appointment. Never again and that bill is fraud. If she bills me again I'm reporting her to the department of health. read more

I Don't have complaints about the staff but I was recommended by my doctor here, I wanted to talk to someone about my temperament and i got matched with Patricia Donahue. First session was OK, her solution to my temperament was to read a book and "pick my battles". Second session, I asked about the root of my temperament and she said most likely I'll never know and to move on and just learn to be better? OK? so if you're looking for closure- she will not help you get there. Instead of helping me mend a friendship, she said it's easier to end it - as she proceeds to point out "how do you feel that your friend is in therapy because of you?" When That's not true whatsoever, I'm not sure how appropriate it is to tell your patient something like that with not enough facts to make that assumption. I don't see how you can truly heal with someone who doesn't have that intention for you in mind. As to these other reviews, in conclusion I would never have my child go here and would not recommend anyone here. I also feel bad for people who may not be able to think for themselves and have to talk to these people that leave you feeling worse than when u got there. Don't go here is you're easily traumatized, don't go here if you are sensitive, Her perspective was biased and honestly a little "know it all" lazy. For a therapist, I'd want someone who is kind, compassionate, proactive, and helps me actually heal, not mask my behavior. read more

Terribly incompetent staff, not fit to work in a mental healthcare system. I saw Dr. Horvitz a few times to get a prescription for medication, which went fine. However, after my medication being on automatic refill for over 10 months, she randomly denied my refill request last week. I called, and the staff informed me that I was overdue for a six month check-up, which I had never been made aware of. I made an appt for March and was told Dr. Horvitz would likely continue to refill my meds before the appt because I am on a non-addictive med with very few side effects, and have been on the same dose for a year now. Despite this, in the past 5 days since this conversation occurred, my pharmacy has sent over several refill requests that have gone unanswered and I have had to call the office every day. Each time, they say it will get done first thing the following day and it never gets done. I've now run through the 5-day supply of meds my pharmacy was able to give me without a renewed prescription and it STILL has not been done and will not be done today. I have never dealt with this level of incompetent and carelessness. read more

By far the worse place to deal with. They have a terrible answering service and an even worse billing department. When you do get ahold of someone, your message never gets delivered. Going there is just as bad. The place smells like piss. I have seen cleaner dumpster. I have been paying $100 per appointment for 45 minutes. I'd think they can afford a cleaning service. And the people at the desk can't seem to get anything done, because their answer to everything is "it's company policy". On a side note my therapist does her job well and is aware of the things i have said. My personal opinion is to find someplace else to be seen if possible. read more

My friend is far from home and has sought help at this facility. His therapist has canceled repeatedly, consecutive sessions - can no one else help? He has called them to get new appointments, indicating when he is and isn't available to talk on the phone (he has a job he can't just walk away from), and they will not return calls for days or will not call when he has asked. The staff here couldn't be any more unprofessional, unpleasant, dismissive, or rude. They will keep you on hold until you hang up and call back only to be placed back on hold. Dr. Kisch has been my psychiatrist for years and he has always been an excellent practitioner. If I were reviewing him, this would be a 4-5 star review. However, if hell exists, it's QBH as a whole. In the YEARS I have been coming here, I have had one appointment start within 15 minutes of its scheduled time, despite their harsh cancellation policy regarding showing up late. Frequently, I end up stuck in their horrible waiting room for more than an hour (like for instance, right now, writing this an hour and a half after the scheduled start of my appointment), listening to the infomercials playing on the tv at too high a volume, which gets people to talk louder, which doesn't mix well at all with the impatience and irritation ALL of us here likely feel at these wait times - there is often yelling or arguing, and usually at least one crying kid. The receptionists vary wildly, from those who do their job acceptably to those who are INCREDIBLY rude, like the one who asked me today if I had a shirt I could put on. It is ninety degrees outside and I am wearing a conservative bralette that shows approximately an inch more of skin than a tank top would. (This comment was especially bizarre when I've seen much more exposing outfits in this place.) While I am forever grateful to Dr. Kisch for the amazing work he's done for me, I am strongly considering finding another psychiatrist just to avoid the misery of every other aspect of this place. Wowee! I'm a healthcare professional who was referred to this practice - via a list of covered behavior health practices - by my insurer. I was seeking specific neuropsychological testing and made that clear when I called to inquire if such testing was offered at their practice. I was told that it was offered and that they had a psychologist who could do it. I followed their procedure of first seeing a psychotherapist and then a psychiatric nurse practitioner, both of whom were very kind and capable, and agreed I was appropriate for referral to their psychologist for the testing I sought. Imagine my surprise when, a few days later, the psychologist's scheduler, or someone relaying a message from this scheduler, left me a voice message telling me the psychologist did not do the type of testing I wanted! This was when the craziness started. I called the practice to find out why I had been informed at the outset that the practice COULD provide the testing I sought, but now - AFTER the practice billed for my visits - it was saying it COULD NOT? Neither the Assistant Practice Manager, Nicole, or the Practice Manager, Judy, could understand why I had a complaint about how things had gone for me at the practice. I could sense that all they wanted was for me to go away. I was left high and dry with no referral, even, to a psychologist who could do the testing I wanted. I contacted my behavioral health insurer to complain about the practice and I may file a formal complaint about this practice with my behavioral health insurer. Caveat emptor! read more

Dr Kitsch was not the best practitioner as in my opinion the staff exhibits the behavior of the doctors that employ them and they are less than mediocre at best. Months to get a call back, no confirmation of appointments, when you do confirm appointments they mess that up and then they blame you for their incompetence. My son went through several medications before they found one that worked but Dr. Kitsch was never interested enough other than to write the prescription he has no follow up. When the medication did not work took another month to get a call back from the doctor and another month to get an appointment. Then the staff...cannot say enough about their incompetence, bad attitudes and rudeness. This practice is so poorly run it is surprising they survive. This place gives new meaning to medicine as a business vs. a profession. I was referred there by my insurance company for medication management for a psychiatric condition. To begin with I am a mental health attorney and very educated about psychiatric medications and illnesses. They told me I would have to see be seen by one of their therapists before I could see a psychiatrist. When I told them I already had a therapist they informed me that I only had to see there therapist once to take my medical history. I agreed to do this and inquired if this therapist would be a Phd psychologist or a licensed social worker. They told me it would be an RN. I was not and still am not aware of any nursing degree that allows you to refer to yourself as a therapist and this one, Janice Denuccio RNBC, ANCC is not even a NP. Well, I decided to try to keep and open mind, so I met with this lady. She argued we me about a legal issue ( I mean I am a lawyer), asked me why she should believe I had a neurological issue ( to which I responded, "you don't have to believe anything I am telling you, request my medical records and stated that I must have loved law school, (not many people who attend do). The place is a real factory with about 40 clinicians practicing there and they don't seem to want to let go of you. Let me explain. A week later I met with Anne Marie Sepe, APRN, a lovely, intelligent woman. Things were going well until I told her that I was taking a certain medication that their practice would not prescribe. I told her that I had tried to withdraw from this medication and that it had not gone well for me. I thanked her for her time, stating that I had other referrals and that I did not want to be seen there. She insisted that I stay and meet with the owner of the practice, Dr. Ethan Kinch, and that they were not "monsters" and that they wanted to help. I told her I didn't really want to meet with this guy because I knew he was not going to make an exception for me with regards to this medication and because I have PTSD I was starting to get triggered. I started to get the feeling that maybe the people that worked their had quotas as far as keeping patients. This guy showed up and of course gave me all the latest "science" on why the medicine that I found helpful was now bad and honestly there was nothing there that was anything near as disturbing as the potential side effects of most of the medications we see advertised on TV nightly. Then he proceeded to tell me what I should be taking, despite the fact that he knew nothing about me and despite the fact that I told him in the past I had not tolerated his suggestions well. He turned to Ms. Sepe and told her to order some lab tests. I was so triggered at this point I stood up and told him I wasn't going to work with another (expletive) idiot, like the last one I was seen by, because that is how I landed in the hospital. No wonder so many of us are sick and depressed when places like this are allowed to "treat" patients. read more
