There we found a busy shop and staff happy to make an appointment to look at the car. We later learned that sometimes the phone does get answered, but not to worry when it does not. We made the right choice. The estimate was more than reasonable for the amount of work involved and the work was done promptly and well. No one tried to bamboozle us or mislead us into getting work that was not necessary. This isn't a fancy place, but it's an honest one, run by hard-working people who know what they're doing. This time it was a muffler and when they gave me the quote it was for $250 but they charged me $360 because they had to "get a different muffler than the one they quoted me for", they did not bother to contact me to see if I wanted to go ahead with that price change or not. In my opinion a full hundred dollars is worth calling the customer over. The mechanic had a very poor attitude when explaining this up-charge. If a person does not get charged the quoted amount, then it should be discussed before the work is done. This is poor service. My parents had a previous experience with them where they went ahead and replaced a tail-light without calling them about it, charged them three times what it would have cost to just do it themselves (something they are very capable of and would have done it instead of paying the labor charges). So if all you are looking for is an oil change for cheap, then go ahead but if your vehicle needs more than an oil change only, then expect to get ripped off. Expect to have work done that was not previously agreed upon.

They said they would go half on repairs. Come to find out that the repairs were so numerous that we refused to keep it and they couldn't resell it either and had to send it to auction. They would not give us our money back and we had to choose another truck from them. It was more expensive, and come finance time found out that they would not give us all the money back from the lemon truck because of "repairs" they had to do to it, and did not give us any deal on the new truck and sold it to us for the book value. We talked to the manager and the owner about this and they wouldn't budge. We had to take the deal to be rid of the lemon truck and public service garage too. My dad faithfully bought from them, but we don't trust them and neither should you.
