We were a little discouraged when no one answered the phone when we called, but got smart and drove not up to the small entrance in the mini-mall off Front Street, but up behind it via Hampton and the parking lots behind the Women's Center. There we found a busy shop and staff happy to make an appointment to look at the car. We later learned that sometimes the phone does get answered, but not to worry when it does not. We made the right choice. The estimate was more than reasonable for the amount of work involved and the work was done promptly and well. No one tried to bamboozle us or mislead us into getting work that was not necessary. This isn't a fancy place, but it's an honest one, run by hard-working people who know what they're doing. I was nervous taking my 1978 truck anywhere, especially since it was running pretty bad. I had no clue what was wrong and after I ran it bone dry on gas (yes, i know) it wouldn't start. Shout out to marquette detailing as they towed it to south side's shop. I got a call the SAME DAY saying they looked at it and it just needed A LOT of tune ups. IT WAS READY LATER THAT DAY. Literally where else?!?! I know stuff like this depends on the issue, part availability etc but holy cow was I excited. I attached a picture of my invoice for anyone who is curious! The total was $656.88 Although obviously expensive and hurt my wallet, as soon as I started my truck, shifted into drive, and stepped on the gas, I knew they fixed the issues. My truck struggled going up hills (hard to drive in MQT) but now it runs SO SMOOTH. They also have an after hours pick up spot for your keys and it was very convenient, as I worked late that day. From the moment I stepped on the gas I knew they fixed it. A special thank you to Jerry Spruitenburg (service advisor) for making me feel like a valued customer and treating me so kindly, as well as the best tech around, M Codd (sorry I don't know your first name), for using your mechanical magic on my old Ford! When i got there she went to get the manager....got tired of waiting so i went back in the garage told the people working on my car to stop and take it off the lift....where is the manager.... he was hiding in an office..wasn;t going to come out and talk to...then came out yelling at me... for being in the garage....would not even listen to me....so a 3 hour job just turned out to be an all day job that didn't get done. I had to call the police to get my car back... What a f**king place this. I will tell everyone i know what assholes they are there. Please share this with everyone you know. He was able to offer some further explanation and wanted to express that there was miscommunication about the type of battery and the options that could have been offered that had not been previously discussed. He listened carefully to my explanation of the events and offered solutions to correct the situation in a suitable manner which was greatly appreciated. He approached it professionally and with genuine concern, and with that, I believe it is the right thing to do to on my end to recognize his efforts and update my earlier comments. If I could give zero stars, I would. I live about a minute from this place and try to support…read moresmall, local businesses whenever I can, but it seems like Shaw's doesn't want your money. I've tried on several occasions and I officially give up. For starters, you walk in and there's never anyone to acknowledge the fact that you're standing in the entry way (despite the surveillance camera pointing directly at the door and counter), so you have to go into the actual garage and find someone to help you. Just what I want to do... walk through a greasy garage, dodging oil puddles in my street clothes. The last two times I was there, I dealt with the same kid and he couldn't have been less helpful. I called earlier in the day to see if they could fix a hole in a tire after running over a screw. The guy said "sure, come in around 4:30 and we'll do it then. No problem. I waited until 4:30, and drove down there only to have the kid glance at the car (a late model equinox) and tell me "we can't fix that size tire." Something about not having the right size machine. Which is fine, I guess. But if you can't fix every size tire, it might be helpful to ask the customer what size tire they have before you tell them to just come in. And since I had waited until 4:30 to find out they couldn't help, there were no other tire places that could do it that day. Today, I went in with (what I thought) was a simple enough request... could they mount a couple of lawnmower tires for me, since I was in a hurry and had never done one? I didn't get a yes or a no. I got a puzzled look from the kid and a "um, I'm not sure if we can mount them with tubes or not..." followed by a blank stare that lasted probably 10 seconds. I finally asked "is there someone here that does know? Or someone that you can call?" Again, a blank stare and "um, not really." Okay then... thanks for nothing. They may very well be the best service station with the lowest prices in town, but I'll never know because I'll never set foot in Shaw's Service Station again and they'll never see a dime of my money. Learn some people skills and customer service.

They replaced one front u-joint and the #7 coil. When I picked the truck up the next day it was the same if not worse than when I brought it in there. I turned around and went right back and was polite and said the problem was not fixed. The two mechanic's on duty, simply responded (like they didn't care) that I would have to make another appointment. That appointment can't be done until 1/7/21.

Wanted $1400 for new pads and rotors and still not replacing the caliper that had causing the problem. They purposely continue to fix the current issue, but could care a less about fixing the cause. A local shop fixed the pads, rotors AND calipers for less than quality car wanted to just replace the pads and rotors. This place is dishonest and overpriced. Call around and find an honest reasonably priced local garage...you'll be much happier!!
