Made a reservation at this hotel more than a month before my arrival. I booked a suite with 2 beds and a pull-out sofa. After driving all day, I arrived as planned, and was told that they did not have my reservation. I pulled up the confirmation I had saved in my laptop computer and showed the desk clerk whose name is Mike Patel. He then looked through his available rooms and told me that he could not give me what I had reserved. He offered me instead a room with 2 beds, no sofa. I rejected the offer. I explained that is not what I reserved. Mike Patel replied, "Take it or leave it." Incompetence and insensitivity to others may be the norm in India, but I will never make plans to stay at this hotel again. read more

I agree with only 1 star. While the staff was pleasant, the room smelled stale and like an old smokers' room. Molding loose and falling off of furniture. Door hard to close all the way. Terrible place. Checked into one of their so called suites and the refer didn't work they move us to the room next door. This room had no toilet paper in the bathroom. Wife tried to call the desk but was busy. She called back and complained and the manager said "don't give him attitude" she told him to get his ass upstairs with the toilet paper. We got the TP. This hotel was terrible! I wanted the hotel to be a nice as it looked from outside, but as soon as we entered the doors it reeked of mothballs! Then as we entered the elevators, it reeked of smoke. Heading to the 2nd floor hallway, it smelled like air freshener. Our AC unit took forever to finally cool down, thank God we left for dinner. When we woke up to hop in the shower, the shower head was broken! It was spewing water EVERYWHERE. Called the front desk to ask for another room key just to hop in the shower but the hotel was booked. Said maintenance wouldn't be in until 10:00am to try & repair shower. Needless to say, we were beyond upset! When we came downstairs to check out, there were plenty of other guests who were upset about their stays too. The desk Mgr refused to discount our rate even after knowing we didn't even get showers! I will be taking this up with our credit card company! Lastly, when we got home, all our clothes in our suitcases smelled sooo bad from the mothballs! Had to wash everything! Its a shame these are franchised hotels. Stopped in from a very long trip from Wisconsin to attend my grandmothers funeral, I had reserved a room in advance, but when I arrived to check in I was greeted at the counter by a very "RUDE" individual who claimed to be the owner..He refuse to honor the amount that was quoted by phone and his favorite words were "I don't care" and "because I said" . I immediately mentioned .. "you obviously don't care about your customers" ! I proceeded to walk out and let him know that I wasn't going going to spend a dime in his very poorly kept establishment !! After deciding to write a review, I had the chance to read the ones that had been posted, Wow, this rude encounter was most definitely a blessing !! Never will I step foot into that hotel ! I was unable to get home on Friday (10/30/2015) due to the floods. My subdivision was surrounded by water. I stopped at the LaQuinta, unfortunately they were booked. I then went to this Quality Inn. They had a room, the rate quoted was $159.00/night! I explained my circumstances to them and asked if there was anything they could do with the rate. I was told "NO"! After I checked in I checked on line, the going rate at this hotel was $100.00/night! They are obviously in the business of taking advantage of people in trouble! They do not understand what it means to be an American, or a Texan that helps their neighbors when possible. I support making a profit with your business. Not gouging people in trouble! On Dec 9th I received horrible service from the Best Western in Buda Texas. We checked in around 5:30pm put our things in the room and then went out for dinner. While at dinner we found out that my wife's mother had been rushed to the hospital. We returned to the hotel (around 7) to collect our things and I informed the front desk we had to leave due to an emergency and asked if we could get a credit or a partial refund. The owner came out and told me that "she didn't care" and when I asked her for her name and to write it on a card she would only give me her 1st name and then proceeded to toss the card in my face. We called customer service and they said there was nothing they could do. Also our non smoking room reeked of cigarette smoke and the entire hotel had a curry smell. AWFUL. We called and made a reservation for a wedding block and were quoted a rate of $89.99. I didn't get a confirmation email, so I called back to get a confirmation # and to re-confirm the same rate. When we arrived, they mysteriously had no record of our reservation, or my brother's reservation, and wanted to charge us $150. The check-in guy was completely unhelpful and defensive when we showed him our confirmations and asked why he wouldn't honor them. Ended up staying at the Holiday Inn. Buyer be aware! They do not honor reservation rates! We came here for the F1 race weekend and had a confirmed rate from Hotels for Hope for a suite. As we were checking in that reservation was no longer in a system but was swapped to a regular two queen room - really - for 5 people?Miraculously a suite just became available while discussing the situation and they told us that we can have it with a rate that was 50% more than what our confirmation showed or of course we can go somewhere else. Sure - they knew very well there's was no other place to go, all the area hotels were booked solid. So we took the room with the new rate and they promptly ran the charge through the credit card. Huh? Don't you usually pay at check out? I got a hold of Hotels for Hope support explaining the situation. Even they were not successful to have the hotel to honor the reservation rate UNTIL contacting Choice Hotels corporate. We were then issued a refund for the difference but no apologies offered. Leaves me wondering how many others got screwed like they tried to do us? The room was smelly and the sofa bed mattress so bad not even a child could sleep on it. The mattress consists of a thin fabric and springs - no padding between fabric and springs to be found. Luckily one of our party was a truck driver and we were able to use a mattress from his bunk. This said the main beds were very comfortable and along the TV and the wet bar with refrigerator the only positive things about this place. The room was relatively clean but since the windows won't open there was no way to air out the stink. You were forced to run AC all day and all night long freezing the poor bastard sleeping on that side of the bed. Found this Hotel at 1:30 in the morning. We were offered a "late night" rate of 119.00(+tax) for a queen suite(2 queen size beds and a pull out sofa). The pull out sofa was un-maid, with stained sheets and food particles- I called the front desk asking for sheets, a blanket, and a pillow (I was willing to make the bed myself) and was informed 'there were no more" so then I requested a room change and was told "no other suites were available". We ended up sleeping 3 to one bed and 2 in another. With only 4 pillows available. The light of day only added to our displeasure. The blankets on the queen beds were also stained! (Gross!!!) I walked down to the front desk and asked for the manager. I was told he was unavailable. I again tried to find the manager on our way out the door. I was told "they did not know when he would be back". I called the hotel the next day and when I finally reached the manager he inquired WHY I waited so long to complain???) The manager then became argumentative, put me on hold 3 times and then told me the room should have been 159.00 and I was given a discounted rate of 119.00 so I should have no complaints. I then had to explained at no time was it ever mentioned...The room is 119.00 and filthy!!!!! The manager offered a 20.00 compensation fee- I hope this review is worth more than his compensation!!! read more

I stayed at the Best Western Southgate the weekend of October 19th. I was the makeup artist for a wedding party who was also there that same weekend. People were coming to my room to have their makeup done. I didn't check in until about 11 pm on Friday the 19th. Upon walking through the door, the odor of the place knocks you off your feet. I would typically never go into these kinds of details, but I was appalled. The place smelled like a combination of mothballs, curry, bad breath, and a lingering stench of cigarette smoke. I walked in and waited at the front desk for about 3 minutes. I saw a guy in the back on the computer and another one the dining room. Finally, the one in the dining room asked if I had been helped, I stated "no". The guy on the computer jumped up, in a panic and rushed over to help me. The room was $99/night (the bridal party special, I was told). I walked into the room. The smell down in the lobby also made its home in the room. I requested a non-smoking room, but it smelled like someone was under the bed smoking 50 packs of cigarettes, not to mention there were cigarette burn marks on the night table. When I request a non-smoking room, I should not smell smoke anywhere! I pulled back the top blanket and sheet to find wrinkled sheets and hair that did not belong to me, which is utterly disgusting! I know that I can go to the Hilton Garden Inn and Suites, pay the same price (that wouldn't be a "special") and know that I am in a clean and comfortable place. I slept with the lingering thoughts of waking up with scabies and bedbugs. DISGUSTING!! The next morning, my boyfriend called the front desk and the phone rang and rang and rang. No one answered. A little while later, I called the desk and the phone rang and rang and rang. Then my boyfriend called again and asked for the Manager, Mike. He explained the situation about the smoke stench in our room. Mike let us know that he can't control someone who smokes in a non-smoking room. My boyfriend also complained about no one being available at the front desk for phone calls. Mike lied and said that was not true and that there is ALWAYS someone there. He also told my boyfriend that he would refund the second nights stay, but needed to speak to me, the cardholder. I would have been happy with that and kept my mouth shut. Well, when I called Mike, he told me that he would refund our 2nd night if we left and found somewhere else to stay. I told him that was impossible seeing as how I was hired to do makeup for a wedding staying at that hotel. Mike ended up refund me $16.95 for the first nights stay (not sure where that number came from). When I got home from this horrific experience, my clothing, $1600 Louis Vuitton, my shoes and anything else fibrous that had been exposed to that reeking hotel stunk so bad it made me want to throw up. We had our pillows in the back seat of our car and kept getting whiffs of the disgusting odor from that hotel. I had to wash everything twice and take my back and dress clothes to the cleaners and told them to de-funk everything! I called customer service at the Best Western headquarters, because I was not happy and I want some compensation. I was told I would receive a call back but have yet to hear from anyone. I told them that the hotel needs someone from Quality Control to check that place out and get to the bottom of that horrendous odor! On a a final note, the bride of the wedding party, who was staying at the hotel, called my room at 2 am on the 19th and said she thinks she was staying across the hall from the apartment of the manager/owner and her room was being filled with the strong odor of curry, asked if she could bring her wedding dress to my room to keep it was absorbing the smell. Its pretty sad that my room even smelled better than hers!! DO NOT GO HERE!! They are unprofessional and gross! I won't even mention the breakfast! read more

I would give this place zero stars. We booked three weeks in advance for a family reunion and got a confirmation number. We called three times the day we were to arrive. Upon arrival they said we didn't have a room and must have called a different hotel, We presented the number we called only to be told they needed the confirmation number, then told all they had were suites and we would have to pay the higher price. After 14 hours of traveling through the hot New Mexico desert we insisted on a room and at the quoted price. They bulked but relented. Other family members booked at this hotel were turned away. They called the corporate number and told there was nothing they could do. They stayed at another hotel for a higher price and poor quality. The room wasn't bad but the lobby smells bad. DO NOT STAY HERE. Long story short, I was put in a room where the air conditioner was not working properly, and when I went to call the front desk the phone was also not working, imagine that. The lady at the desk then puts me in another room after I woke up at 4 AM drenched in sweat, and that room didn't even get very cold either. The next morning I went down to the front desk to ask for the manager, Betsy, Who had a horrible attitude and when I mentioned to her that I would like a small discount because my stay was so uncomfortable, her response to me was, " well the girl at the desk was new so she forgot to tell you to push the curtain behind the air-conditioner. " Um...what? First of all that doesn't make any sense, the curtain was not even in front of the air-conditioner, and second of all, it's really not my problem that she's new and put me in a sauna. So I call corporate, which is choice hotels, and they give me 6000 points to put towards my stay for a room, and their website has been down for over a day now and I can't even make the reservation that I need and I just keep getting passed around from customer Service agents for an hour and a half. For the love of all things good, do not stay at any choice hotel, but especially this particular one. If I could put negative stars I would, but unfortunately I have to put at least one for this review to post read more

No problems or serious complaints. Made reservations for US Grand Prix seven months ahead of my stay. They upgraded me to a suite at no additional cost (but I stay at BW a lot). Bed and pillows where super comfortable, room extremely clean, thick, soft towels, good a/c, 'fridge, micorwave, sink & bar in the room were nice. Staff very accomodating and friendly. Breakfast was a little sparce and the coffee not the best, but it was all acceptable. Easy access to IH-35 and CoTA. Will certainly go back here next year. We did not find the same hotel as all the negative reviewers did; we had a great three-night stay. read more

My boyfriend and I stayed here a few weeks ago, due to us being in town for a wedding. When we got to town, my boyfriend went in and checked in with no problem. Then when we got there later that night we went up to our room and saw bags and the bed unmade. After we saw that, we went back down to the lobby area and told the lady at the front desk that our room wasn't clean and someones bags were already in there. A gentlemen standing next to us said those were his friends bags and they had that room. The lady at the front desk then called the manager up and he proceeded to be very rude and kept arguing with the gentlemen that the room belonged to. They never once apologized for double booking the room and pretty much blamed the guy that had already reserved the room before us. The only thing that kept us there, was the lady at the front desk offered us a different room that they knew was open. read more
