I was in town to visit a sick family member, but we didn't feel super comfortable with me staying in the house because I haven't been quarantined. When I knew I was getting a hotel, Baymont Tuscola was the obvious choice. I got to town earlier than expected (because I was an idiot who forgot about time zones), but was able to check in right away because a room was available. Posted at the front desk was a sign about precautions the hotel staff is taking to maximize safety during this pandemic. Things like shutting down the pool and fitness center (which seems obvious), but also maximizing social distancing with staff and guests by avoiding congregations in the lobby, which I appreciated. Protecting staff is one of the most important things a company can do. The room was as comfortable as I've come to expect, very spacious and clean. The keurig, refrigerator, and microwave all worked just fine, and the water heat and pressure were great. There are also several restaurants of varying quality in driving distance, as well as a drive thru liquor store so all of my needs were met while I was in the room. I had a steak dinner from TaCarbon that was still hot when I got back to the room because it was less than 3 minutes away. As always, it was a great stay at Baymont Tuscola. This is my go-to property when I'm in the Champaign area, and that hasn't changed. #socialmediapromo #baymontbywyndham #champaignarea #tuscola

I would give this negative stars if I could. We had been in the room for one night when something…read morein the toilet broke. We were moved to another room. Checked out and then was charged $110 for a broken toilet. I'm not sure how they can prove anyone in our party did it nor am I sure how someone sitting on one can bust the toilet. SUPER unprofessional. Called corporate who told me they could do nothing. Save your time and spend more money to stay somewhere nicer and stay somewhere that cares about their guests.

There is a little coffee nook on the 2nd floor with a Keurig and coffee pods. They are VERY clear on the website that you must be able to navigate a flight of stairs for 300 numbered rooms. However, the best way to navigate to the 200 rooms is also up a very steep staircase. It's a historic building so I get it, and they have tried to provide some accessibility with a lift on the outside of the building, but if accessibility is a key concern you may want to stay elsewhere.

Rooms are nice sized, with a nostalgic feel, comfortable bed, and very clean. However had some…read moredisappointing issues. This is not a Bed and Breakfast, no breakfast voucher either - so forget anything you read otherwise - I complained about the sign that was even in the window as you walked in stating Bed and Breakfast, which they did remove the next day. Speaking of walking in - I had to push the automatic door to the lobby open (they did fix that the next day) only to find a kiosk virtual front desk (from a different town/state who knows where, that had to call about everything that required attention). After we had drove a few hours, we did get a text to warn us that the elevator was broken (so check on that before you go, because it was still broke when we left). I had booked a room specific to 2nd floor, as my wife has some trouble with stairs after hip surgery (none on first floor, and 3rd floor only has stair access). After the steep climb with luggage (We heard some poor soul struggling to get luggage up the stairs and thought he was going to have a heart attack, but he made it before I was able to get out to help). We got settled in, but before the day was over... the TV quit working. Mr. kiosk suggested the typical things (reboot etc...) that I had already tried and had to show him a picture of the screen that showed it had no connection. He said they would have someone fix the next day after treating me like I did not know anything (I worked in IT over 40 years, I can tell when a Roku cannot connect to a network). Next day, after being out all day, came in to relax - no TV still, Mr. Kiosk said we could move to another room... OK we pack up and move to a new room, and it is super cold, go to Mr. Kiosk again because we could not find a thermostat, his solution ... we move to another room that has a thermostat we can adjust on the third floor - no - we are tired we don't want to lug up another flight of stairs, we will just get out another blanket. We did get a call at that point, and I was told the thermostat is currently in another room for the whole floor, but I can go and adjust (got there and it was set to 66), so we finally was able to settle in and watch TV for the night. (They are planning on making changes to have individual controlled, but something you might want to consider). The last day was better, but not sure we will be back even though we did like the room itself. Definitely, buyer beware - ask before booking.

The theming in the room is done so nicely, from cool themed bedding to specialty lighting throughout the room. It's just a lot of fun. The steam shower also has shower panel and two overhead shower heads, it felt incredible. Jacuzzi tub was also very nice. Everything was clean and the room smelled great. The Continental breakfast is just bagels/English muffins/pastries, cereal and a waffle maker, but it hit the spot. The coffee was tasty too. I think I saw a little basket of fresh fruit and some yogurt in the fridge too. The pool is up and running again, we dipped our toes a little but mostly enjoyed the sauna and hot tub. The steam room in the pool area is currently closed for repairs, but that was no issue for us. I'm sure they'll have it repaired by the time we come back. We enjoyed this trip so much we started planning another as soon as we got in the car lol. We can't wait to come back.
