The smell of mold is throughout the hotel. I had to switch the first room the put us in due to the AC not working and the young gentleman told me I was wrong they all work that way. I still Asked him for another room when we go in there the AC worked in that room and he apologized. He knew he was wrong. Day 4 or 5 I asked for some clean linens as I spilt my sprite and was informed that they only washed the comforters every other week not every customer stay. My towels and sons bedding was left on my bed for me to replace the bedding and towels in the bathroom. the managers wife made racism s comments to me in the hallway. And walked away. My child was right there watching her I just wanted clean towels So the manager told me if I left that day, he wouldn't charge me this was around 1 we left at 4. and I asked him. I've been coming here for a decade. My family has been coming here as well . Why couldn't we just have clean linens? He stated they just don't wash them and they don't provide cleaning service while you stay but every 5 days which just is trash and towels. Every 5 days shocked me. I have stayed here so much the customer service is horrible. He obviously sided with his wife and lost a 4 more customers. Except for the fact when I checked out, he then refused to not charge me for that day and made me pay. I had stayed here so many times though it had been a while. It wasn't about the money but the rude and racism and dirtiness of a place we had good memories at before. If you forget about that bad customer service I still would not take anyone there again Do not take your children here or if you have any breathing troubles do not go here. The mold is all over the hotel. the pool, which I didn't get a picture of has a ladder that's barely hanging on. There's sharp edges everywhere which could cut your children. read more

When I am forced to leave a bad review, I like to mention the positives first. The front desk staff were very courteous and competent. The parking lot was well-lit and well-maintained. The hotel is conveniently located right off of I-75 South. We needed an overnight room to attend my daughter's wedding. Because a college in Richmond was having a ballgame, we were charged $166 dollars for what should have been a $70 dollar room AT MOST. The hotel is very old and clearly no profits have been used for improvements. Our room had a horrible smell, peeling wallpaper, a drain that was so slow we had to stop our showers repeatedly. Even with the air conditioner running there was so much moisture in the room that our clothes and sheets felt damp, and even the checkout receipt that was placed under our door was curled! The smell permeated my hair, our clothing, and even our soft sided luggage. Dear friends of ours also stayed overnight at this hotel to attend our daughter's wedding and had the same issues. Ben at the front desk was very nice and helpful. Breakfast was good, but there's a booth that needs to be thrown away. Room was quiet and clean. Price was great, with military discount $85. Smelled so musty and mildewy that we had to go get febreeze. It was too late to go to a different motel. Beds are full size, which was uncomfortable but that's just a preference. We'd stay there again, hopefully the carpet will get cleaned and ac filters will get changed before that. Pet friendly for $25 extra. read more

Great for the price hotel close to Berea, Kentucky. Everything is clean and new. There's a small workout facility, a pool (which was undergoing maintenance.) The breakfast is quite substantial: scrambled eggs, sausage links, bagels, cereal, fruit etc. The only reason I didn't give the review five stars is because our TV wasn't working both nights, and the young man we complained to couldn't do anything about it, and didn't have the gumption to tell anyone who could. Staff (Tom, I think) was very helpful. We checked in at 4:00pm. The room we were initially in was listed as "accessible" but had a full tub with 24 inch sides and a shower chair. That's not exactly accessible to my wife. The refrigerator did not work, even after it was cycled. They had another, more accessible room, but were in the middle of cleaning it. We were told that the other room would be ready by either 6 or 8. We returned about 7:45 and the other room was ready. This one did have a walk-in shower, but the HVAC was in need of a tuneup. It took 8 hours to raise the room temperature from 68 to 74. There was also a funky, almost sulphur-type odor in the hallway between our room and the front desk. I have stayed at Choice Hotel frequently in the last 25 years. This was my worst experience. To compund the problem, the day before you arrive, you get an email from the property to complete online check-in. The app asks for your drivers license (including a photo of it), your car license, make, model, and color. And your credit/debit card to cover incidentals. All done, right? Nope...I had to produce all of these when I arrived. So much for on-line check in. I did not ask for anything to be comp'd, but the gentleman that checked us in also was there the next morning to check us out and offered nothing. Hmmmmm. Oh yeah, GREAT price on Hotels.com although the rating there was 8.2. Should have been more like 4.5. read more

Stayed one night, the toilet in the room didn't even work, had to go to the Shell station across the street to use the restroom. The only reason I have two stars for service is because gentleman that checked me in was really nice. However, with that being said, two days later they charged my card an additional $150 because the cleaning staff said our room smelled like smoke. I don't even smoke. I called the corporate office to get a refund because conveniently the manager wasn't in until the following Tuesday, just to be told, "I cannot process the refund because we cannot prove you didn't smoke in the room." So I asked, "How can you charge me the $150 when you cannot prove I did?" So renter beware that apparently just because one person says your room smelled like smoke, they can charge you $150 even if you don't smoke. Seems like a scam to me. read more

A special price, $94.00 ? Room was clean. Shower head would not stay in place, hot water but it only sprayed into the corner . Bedside lamp flickered on and off. The room had door to adjoining room. occupants very loud, woke us a 5am. Breakfast was inadequate. Staff was pleasant. read more

The staff was very nice, with that being said the room had a smell of mildew and wet dog. The breakfast that they served , eggs were watery, sausage gravy from a can, the biscuits had to be heated up in the microwave to be edible at best. We will not be staying here again. read more

Hotels.com rated it "excellent" which is not accurate. The room was clean & OK. the property was average, nothing great, nor troublesome. The hallways had a STRONG Indian food odor, owners live & cook onsite in a room. Breakfast was minimal, I would rate below average. Overall, 3 stars is about right. Price was fair. Stopped at this hotel enroute to Detroit on I-75 from Florida. This is a good mile-marker to stop at on an 1100 mile drive. Rooms are about $40-60 cheaper in Berea than they are up in Richmond and Lexington. This appears to be a brand-new hotel property, so everything in the hotel works, is in good shape, and is being kept clean. The driveway into the place from the street is in really bad shape & very poorly-lit, so be careful. The front parking lot is too small and you may need to park around the back, which will be inconvenient for you. We had booked a king-room, but they only had a room with double beds when we arrived very late at night and really looking forward to that king. Double beds are for kids, not adults. Our room was the last one at the end of the hall and its window looked out onto a brick wall that was 6 feet away - you couldn't tell it was morning by opening the shades, as the wall was part of an enclosed walkway. The pillows are small and hard, and the towels are thin. The breakfast area is too small for all the people who show up to eat - it's tiny and very cramped - and the scrambled eggs are made from powder. This is 2-star hotel, not a 2-1/2 star hotel like Hampton Inn or Hilton Garden Inn. But, for the price, it's an OK deal for a 1 night stay. There are other new hotels just south 1 mile at the 76 mile marketer, and you might want to check them out before deciding. read more

You can't beat the clean, kind environment here. Mattresses on the first floor in the 110's are thick and comfortable. Nice pool and quiet. Now, beware of room 118 where I felt my chest being pushed down as I was lying on my back and the springs of the mattress pushing me back up woke me up! Could it have been a ghost? It happened, I woke up and nothing could be seen. ???!!! Time for real Ghostbusters too investigate......and send that Ghost to the other side. I stayed again, but chose a different room. read more

Stopped in Berea on our way to South Carolina. Michelle was so nice on the phone and when we arrived. There's nothing luxurious about the place but Our room was very clean and the rates were very reasonable. Great place to stop when you're on the road and looking for a clean place to sleep. Parking was close to door, elevator and room. Like the design and layout. Ladies at desk were pleasant. Room was clean. Nothing fancy but good. Price on Expedia was great! Wish I had gotten her name but the young lady checking us out was the same one that checked us in. She said she had gone home and came back in. Nothing but smiles and friendliness! Last weekend we were attending a concert at Renfro Valley and this hotel was recommended to stay at so I made the reservation weeks in advance. In order to get the discounted price I was asked to pay for it in advance. I paid with my credit card so I thought everything was good. We got to the hotel about 2:30 pm and the girl at the front desk told us we would have to come back because our room was not ready and we had to check in after 3 pm. We left and came back about an hour later. Checked in and went to our room. About 30 minutes later I got an email from my credit card company that a charge had been posted to my card. I went to the front desk and asked the clerk. She pointed to a small sign on the counter and said there is a 30% charge up front in case you steal something! If everything checks out you will see that charge go away tomorrow. That was Sunday - today is Tuesday and I have not seen the charge go away yet! I have never in my life had this happen before. When we checked out on Sunday the man from India was at the front desk and I will presume the owner. It infuriates me that someone can come into this country and make a living from American people but be so distrusting! I will never stay at a Quality Inn even again! read more
