Recently renovated, this hotel is a great place to stay. The manager Sam, makes you feel at home with a big smile and a great attitude, he checks you into a clean room with clean bedding sheets, plenty of thick towels, and a comfortable room. There is a Mexican restaurant on the premises that is very good, and there is a full tasty breakfast. I will continue to stay here as I pass through as I stay in hotels 300+ days a year. read more

My family stayed here for two evenings and we will not be back. The room was not clean. The mildew in the bathroom was climbing the tile and the bathroom floor corners were filled with dirt and hair. There were dead bugs in the windowsill and corners of the bedroom. The outlet behind one of the beds were completely busted with parts and pieces laying on the floor and there was no power to the bedside clock or lamps. The continental breakfast was poorly maintained by staff and items sat out for extended periods of time and were no longer warm. The fitness center was a joke - you had to pass through the employees only sign to get to a strange secluded room to work out which did not feel safe to be in due to its strange, unpublic location. The sauna in the pool area was also out of order. The courtyard was filled with dog poop which made it unsanitary for my children to walk/play on. For the price of the rooms, I expected MUCH better rooms and public areas and much friendly service. read more

If I could give half a star I would. Wish I would have read the reviews before we stopped, they were all right on. Dirty rooms and the beds were horrible. Definately time fot management to invest in some new ones. I would not stop here again. read more

An ok hotel for the price. The rooms are nice, if a bit on the cramped side. The Mexican restaurant is decent. There are other restaurants nearby. The breakfast selection is good, but not as wide as other properties around. read more

I didn't look at the reviews and I wish I had. The price was okay and since we had a few more nights of travel I thought okay. The pool sold us so the kiddos could burn off some energy. Well all was fine until after getting in the pool we found poop. Poop in the pool and pool beside the pool. We then went back to the room my son peed on the bed so we needed new bedding. They had no extra bedding at all. So we all slept okay but the walls are paper thin and could hear some old people for hours. That morning we went to check out and the lady at the desk was rude and wouldn't even get us a receipt we needed for travel. read more

Overpriced. Not very clean. Called the hotel number and was directed to Choice Hotels who offered me a room here. Arrived at 9 pm and was given a key to an occupied room. Halls had not been cleaned. Interior needs painted. Not very fresh and clean. I would like to think I'm not a snob. Clean and update is fine but those are obviously no th priorities for thi ax hotel chain. read more

At a loss for words and stars...The most terrifying experience of my life! booked through orbits while on the road because we were dead tired from driving even though we were only a few hours from home. wished we would of just slept at a rest area. checked in about 7pm asleep by 8 pm. My boyfriend woke up to a banging on the door(I slept through that) at 12;30 am by the police telling us management called in a complaint that we were smoking pot in our room. For the record we don't smoke pot. the policeman told my boyfriend he smelled a strong odor of pot coming from our room and that he was coming in to search. I was woke up (naked in bed) by two officers with flash lights going threw our belonging. they never asked for I.D never turned on any lights just kept grilling us about the marijuana (that did not exist) and how we needed to admit to this crime!? I asked to get dressed they allowed me to then just kept searching the room and our bags by flashlight and stating that the room smelled of pot! and that we should just tell them.... tell them what? there was nothing to admit to. the room did not smell like pot when we checked in and it did not smell of pot at 12;30 in the morning. of course I was told by officer Hernandez that just because I cant smell it he has been trained in these matters and that Colorado residence forget they cant smoke pot in Kansas! what! never asked for my i.d how does he know were I am from? and Again I don't smoke pot!!!! so now I think they are shaking us down or going to rob us or some other crazy thing. Since there is no hotel manager with them. as I am going to call the police station I was told not to bother because no one is there and then a third policeman walks in and says he is the superior officer and I can file a complaint with him, I said great lets do that and grab my phone and start videoing and like magic they all leave!!!! hotel management tells me they never called the police and that's not how they would handle the situation anyway. that the police in Colby walk the halls without their permission and harass their guest often. The manager wanted me to meet him at the police station to file a complaint, in fact he would not refund my money unless I did this! talked to orbits they are trying to help get me a refund. I will tell everyone I know to stay away from Colby Kansas! it is not friendly to travelers! Wish I could post the video here! read more

First off lets state the obvious, this is an OLD property, probably built in the mid to late 60s, but with years of service comes experience. Upon arrival I was recognized as a Choice Privileges member and given a goody bag of water and candy. Derrick and Everette (the manager I would guess from his attire) were friendly, pleasant, and professional. Vicky at checkout was also a treat. The front desk seems to be young, everyone that I saw was probably in their 20s and 30s, which was a surprise. They were informed and gave me lots of tips of where to eat, not just at the attached restaurant, information on how to access the internet, pool hours, etc. Usually at hotels this old it looks like the staff was there from the beginning and don't know anything. My room was small but comfortable with a 37" flat screen television, a king sized bed, and an old-fashioned writing desk. The old and the new coming together. The breakfast was nice and full. For those that want a large, farmer's breakfast, as my dad would say, there were biscuits, gravy, sausage, eggs, and waffles. For those watching their figure there is fresh fruit (apples and oranges), yogurt, white and wheat bread, plain bagels and raisin bagels. Decent coffee, very good juice selection (OJ, apple, grape and cranberry), ice water, hot tea, and hot coca were all offered as well. Probably the best breakfast I had in terms of selection and variety. There are a few things that could use improvement, the parking lot was a small out front and crowded with lots of people in the attached restaurant. And I noticed some trash in the bushes in the morning at check-out, but then again this part of Kansas is windy so I'm sure that's hard to maintain. The Marquee out front was missing some letters (again refer to wind though). A hot tub would be nice as would an exercise room, (according to staff they are working on getting an exercise room ready, so it may be set up for summer visitors). Refrigerators and microwaves in the rooms would be nice as well. The Hilton this aint but for a room that cost me around $70, this exceeded my expectations, particularly in the breakfast service and the staffing. To the gentleman who previously reviewed this hotel, I didn't notice any smell in the lobby or in the rooms, so whatever problems they had there have been fixed. read more

Very very dirty!!! Fan/ air made a horrible sound. Burn holes in bedding. Bathroom sink didn't work. When we called the front desk they dismissed it all. We stayed in this "hotel" last night and if we couldn't found another room elsewhere we would have left. read more

This is a Quality Inn that is getting better and better. It still needs some work but the rooms were clean and well set up by house keeping. I talked with the new owner and you can tell they are working hard to take an older building and renewing/renovating it. The hallways and entrance bathrooms still need some work, but the entrance, breakfast area and swimming pool were excellent. This is the second Quality Inn we have stayed in on our trip this past week, and in both, they are doing a good job updating everything. Good job, Quality Inn. I would stay here again. We have stayed in some Quality Inns the past year or two where it looked like the owner was just taking money out but not putting anything back in (a cash cow). This was not the case with the two Quality Inns we stayed in this time. If this is the direction the national leadership of Quality Inns is taking the company, bravo!!! Keep it up! You will have a loyal customer in us for a good mid to mid+ hotel! read more

I stay in Colby twice each Summer on my trips to Colorado. I got a late start on making reservations this last July 4th and ended up here. This establishment is poorly maintained. The check-in area, foyer reeked as we checked in the result of a sewer problem of some kind. Our room also smelled although not nearly as bad as the foyer. The owners of this establishment do not see the need to invest in their property. I'd recommend the Comfort Inn (recently updated) or the new Hampton Inn or Holiday Inn Express. read more

Found bed bugs in rm 164. When we showed them to the Mgr he said they "we're not too big"!!! He also offered no compensation or rate adjustment for the bugs. The breakfast foodstuffs were not maintained, had to go looking for someone to restock them, and the cleanliness of the area was suspect. I would not recommend to anyone until items sited are corrected. read more

This place sucks. You can't get checked in. They seem to be busy texting. And that is sad because I stay at choice motels often. I think the name was regan. And i stay at this motel two weeks a year. Correction stayed. Will be looking into a new motel. And just come here to eat some great Mexican food. read more
