    Dutch Inn near Martinsville, VA.

The legendary Dutch Inn does not disappoint...if you are looking for modest accommodations and willing to gamble on a working AC unit. Our reservation request for poolside view was not accommodated, so we were left with a parking lot view with some of Martinsville's finest presenting their own entertainment. Rooms are fine and the decor is set somewhere between 1985 - 1995. The box TV had a host of channels including HBO. We enjoyed our stay, but knew what we were getting in to... And we got in to it (check out Wild Magnolias for nightlife, the Flying Dutchmen was beat).

    Work in progress sink.

DO NOT STAY HERE! EVER! The morning before we checked in a family member had reserved a room facing the courtyard. The hotel manager Mrs. Reeves guaranteed the room would be ours when we arrived later that night. We arrived around 11:00pm. I was checked in by a young man who seemed to be stressed to find our room. He told a nice woman that we were in an odd room, she remarked "are those rooms open now?". The room was in an annex far from the main hotel. I opened the door to a dark dank room that had hot uncirculated air. The light swich next to the door did not work. An arm door was next to the air-conditioning unit had an arm broken, the air-conditioner was not operational by any standards. The floor of the entire room was covered in dry wall dust. At the end of the room was the sink which was propped up by a 2x4. That was pushing me to the edge. I looked into the bathroom and say an out of date bathroom with an unflushed toilet and black mold in the corners of the shower. I immediately called my grandmother who had reserved our room for us. She said to talk to the front desk and see what they could do. They were more frustrated that the room was not the right one. The young man who had checked us in was gone. The woman who had remarked the room wasn't ready helped us saying to "call the manager and just find another hotel because they were booked". I obliged and promptly checked out free of charge. As the desk attendant recommend, my grandmother came in and spoke to Mrs. Reeves, the hotel manager. She said that my grandmother was a "liar and didn't come in that morning (my grandmother told me the number and location of the room which the girl from the previous night confirmed) and if we reviewed the hotel badly, she would charge her for libel. Luckily we have pictures. And the first ammendment. Tl;Dr version Manager is horrible and the hotel is disgusting. Also the customer is always a liar.

Horrible place! Don't ever stay here. They have bedbugs! Disgusting food! Very disappointing. Ac/heater didn't work and looked moldy.

Bedbugs. We stayed here and had to leave in the middle of the night after waking up with bugs crawling on us.

We recently hosted a small, intimate dinner party at the Virginia Home Inn & were thrilled with our…read moreexperience. The owners of the Inn are Edward & William Lewis. Upon entering the Inn you will be invited to visit with your hosts in the main parlor. If you have not previously visited the Inn, you will also be invited to tour the historic property & will be given a mini history of the Inn. Please note that this is a working Bed & Breakfast Inn......the guest rooms are awesome as well. At the appropriate time you will be invited to take your seats in the adjacent dining room & your dining experience will begin. For my event we enjoyed their Fruit & Spring Greens Salad, Potage au Fromage, Citrus Glazed Cornish Game Hens, Edwards's Signature Dressing, Garlic Asparagus & Virginia Home Inn French Bread with Apricot Butter. The salad was awesome with many layers of flavor featuring blueberries, strawberries, apples & kiwi fruits with a Balsamic Dressing. The Potage au Fromage was delicious & delicately seasoned. Edward's Signature Dressing was a favorite with my entire group. The Cornish Game Hens were given a citrus glaze & stuffed with orange sections to infuse the citrus flavor throughout the hen. Garlic asparagus was a delicious side & balanced the citrus glazed poultry. The portions were very nicely sized for even the largest appetites. They make their own breads & they are served to you hot-from-the-oven with their signature butter creations. For my event William created a delicious Southern Chocolate Cake from his mother's recipe collection. The cake featured yellow layers with a cooked chocolate icing & was a delicious conclusion to our meal. I am so happy I chose the Inn for my special dinner party. Please note that this is a working Bed & Breakfast Inn......the guest rooms are awesome as well.

For brevity's sake:…read more *I'm in town for a dog trial and made a reservation for one adult and one dog. I did this online. I do this often and have never had a problem. *this motel bills itself as "pet friendly". *After getting to town, running my dog & having dinner I return to the hotel (checked in earlier) at 11:30 pm. *the manager comes running out and excoriates me for having a dog. I told him it's in the reservation. *the manager, Sam, proceeds to tell me it isn't in the reservation and cancels my reservation and makes me leave the motel at 11:30 pm. He could not have been more of a prick. *while the Wyndham is a dump, the way this guy overreacted was above and beyond. Not sure what this guy should be managing, but it isn't people. *Martinsville is a nice town and I would suggest staying anywhere other than the Wyndham Super 8. The Best Western across the street is great and the people that run the Royal Motel are very nice. Hope this helps.

Ya get what ya pay for......my first stay in a motel because I'm not ballin' like I used to and I…read morehad to go to Martinsville for a church conference. Our bus broke down en route to Martinsville and I called to let them know that I would be checking in much later. I was told that it was problem because I paid in advance for my room. Imagine my surprise when I was greeted by a grumpy middle aged Indian man who asked me,"WHO DID YOU PAY?!" Despite his negativity, I kept my bubbly smile and didn't turn into Shay-Nay-Nay on him. Once checked in and banging my luggage up the stairs as there's no elevator, I walked in and THANK GOODNESS I brought a full can of Oust is all I can say. I sprayed everything, the sheets, the mattress, the chairs (which were DISGUSTING) and relaxed. The best thing about my room: the window opened so I was able to sleep in the cool of the night :-). The next morning I went down to see what the Super 8 considers a complimentary breakfast and low and behold there was bagels, croissants, cereal and coffee. To my dismay the coffee was empty. I sat with my caffeine addicted leg shaking waiting on my liquid breakfast as the lady at the front desk didn't seem to be very attentive to the quickly draining breakfast bar. The coffee took much longer than she expected and she gave me something brown that resembled but tasted like brown water.....I wasn't expecting Starbucks people but dang, can a sistah get some Maxwell House? Next time, hopefully I will be gainfully employed so that I won't have to stay at the Super 8.
