Where do I begin? With the homeless people asking for $ and cigs in the parking lot? Or the 45 minutes to an hour to check in with a lobby consisting of a strung out drug addict who had a visit later in their room from Child Protective Services (2 doors down from my disgusting room) Or the slimy 12 upcharge for parking in an empty parking lot? Maybe I'll start with the fact the room key was busted and I was locked out for 2 hours with all my luggage inside while they took the door apart to replace the batteries. If I could give 0 stars I would. TLDR: DO NOT STAY HERE. Service is HORRIBLE and the hotel smells disgustingly like cigarette smoke. We reserved a 2 queen room for a Saturday night and it was confirmed with us prior to our arrival that we did have a 2 queen room. Upon arrival, we were placed in a 2 double room which smells horribly like cigarette smoke, which was unacceptable for our needs and did not match our reservation. There were no 2 queen rooms available, so we wound up needing to drive home at 2 am with our 6 month old baby. We were offered to move to a different room with 2 double beds, but as I said, that didn't meet our needs nor our reservation. Bhagya was the only one working (and the hotel was completely sold out, so she was completely overworked), and she tried multiple times to reach out to her manager for assistance but was left unanswered. When we left, Bhagya assured us we would get a refund for the night since our needs weren't met and we did not stay, and Rodney Young (general manager) would reach out to us to make it right. Cut to Tuesday, Rodney has not reached out and has in fact been actively avoiding us. He allegedly only works 3 hours a day. Our bank was able to speak with Kunal, who denied our refund and instead offered points to redeem at Choice hotels. Our bank told us they did not accept the points but would check with us first, but according to Rodney, the bank accepted the points so someone here is lying and I'm inclined to believe it's Rodney. We will NEVER use a choice hotel again, so we said we did not want the points and instead wanted a refund. Rodney has, at this point, repeatedly denied our request for a refund, stated he doesn't care that we won't use Choice again, and stated that Choice doesn't even want us to use them again. He was also supposed to email me and his boss so that this can be escalated as our experience has been so horrendous, but I have yet to receive that email and he has allegedly already left for the day. At 11:39. When allegedly didn't arrive until after 10am. How you're supposed to be able to manage and run a hotel when you're never there, I have no idea. Clearly he does a poor job of it. read more

Room Was dank with a musty odor. Empty bag of chips with its crumbs was behind the nightstand. Window had large cracks and broken seal so it was all clouded. Carpet felt damp to bare feet. Room was in desperate need of repaint and new curtains as well. It was priced on the lower end of what's available in the area, but at $130 for the night, I still expected more. Included breakfast was waffles and cold cereal which does not work for my diabetic wife, so we then paid for breakfast elsewhere on top of the $139. Previous reviews of this location were mediocre, so I didn't expect a 5-star hotel. Comparatively, this was not a cheap place to stay in Harrisburg, as I spent over $100 for a single night on the weekend. I was completely dissatisfied. Upon arriving, I noticed multiple teenagers lounging on the sidewalk in front of the hotel near the doorways. It gave an appearance of a seedy place to stay along the river. And the experience never improved. The hallways were dimly lit and dingy and in need of a paint job; bathroom lights did not operate; the shower was dirty and off-putting; the bed mattress, upholstered armchair and carpet had large stains and the breakfast was inedible. Sure the hallways and the lobby are a bit run down. But the location! Steps to downtown; no need for a designated driver for your night out. Great to step out of your room and jog or stroll on the riverfront on a lovely spring day. And, if you are lucky, you actually get a bit of a view from your room. And the other guests aren't bad. The Indian resto next door is also very good. Being on the second floor, facing the water would be ideal - on the first floor facing away from the water, the worst. Also, the price point makes the whole thing very palatable. The breakfasts aren't great but they are Ok. The place kinda grows on you. It's weird. We stayed at this hotel because we were in town for a concert. The rate was good and the location was close to the concert venue. We arrived earlier than anticipated (close to 2:00) and asked if we could check in early. The woman at the front desk didn't even look to see if our room was available, she simply said "check in is at 3:00. Period." I was immediately annoyed. We left and got lunch/dinner and went to our concert. We didn't come back to the hotel until midnight. The front desk attendant was super friendly and got us in our room quickly so we could crash for the night. Walking the halls we could tell that everything was old and in desperate need of fresh paint. But once we got to our room we were pleasantly surprised. The room was clean and the bed was REALLY comfortable. We slept like the dead. We would choose to stay here again. We just won't arrive until 3:00!!!! read more

The wife, dog and I stayed here for a quick hershey getaway. We are not fancy people, and often stay at "budget" hotels as we don't need bells and whistles. This place was absolutely great for us. Walking distance to restaurant row, the island where the Harrisburg senators play, and 25 mins from hershey park. We could not have been happier, and will definitely stay here next time in the area. Booked my room a month in advance to be told when I arrived that they just received my booking and that they were full. I booked a king bed room and was given what they had left which was a queen and probably cheaper but I didn't get reimbursed for any of my money. I asked about the price and got ignored I felt that since I'm young they felt they could take advantage of that. Claims to be 100% smoke free but smells of smoke. I've stayed at the Comfort Inn a few times while in Harrisburg. It is a lot nicer than I expected it to be, but it is no five star hotel. The lobby is clean and welcoming, the staff is friendly. The rooms are a bit dated, but fairly roomy. The double queen bed rooms have a min-fridge, I can't remember if there is a microwave or not. The rates run about $80 a night. They do have a walk-in rate which can sometimes be cheaper than what is listed on their hotel- you can call the hotel and they will provide you of the rate and the current occupancy for the specific date. All guests receive a free breakfast when staying here. The breakfast is pretty standard, a few cereals, eggs, yogurts, a selection of fruits, and of course a waffle maker. This particular Comfort Inn has both vanilla and chocolate waffle batter- I have never seen the chocolate batter before. The location is pretty good, about a mile away from downtown. This equates to a $10-$15 cab ride to get to the bars. The close location to Second Street does draw a younger crowd, but the hotel is pretty good at noise control. An Indian restaurant located right next to the building, and they share a pretty big parking lot. It is also right next to the waterfront which is a great area to walk along during the day. All in all, it's a good hotel for any Harrisburg trip. read more

This place is very conveniently located right off the highway, and provides a great view of the Susquehanna river. My room was clean, as was the hotel in general. The stars removed are for location of room, as I asked for an outside view, regardless of street or river view. Upon finding my room, not only wasn't there a view, there wasn't a window at all. Upon calling the front desk and asking for another room, I was informed that all the outside rooms were taken. This was an outright lie. The other party I was with had an outside room, and informed me that not only were there no people next to them, it was quite obvious that there were many rooms available to meet my request. Not the best for the price. You're basically paying for the location if you want convenience to both highways and downtown Harrisburg. The rooms were clean although the armchair had a huge (oil?) stain. The beds are super comfy and despite the other reviews, our AC unit worked well. The main issue was the bathroom. The shower shot water in all directions. A cheap new shower head from Walmart would've fixed the problem. A fan in the bathroom would help a lot too...the steam and stagnant air in there was a bit much. The hallways were also very hot due to the AC exhaust from the rooms. To be honest the only reason I give this motel 3 stars is because of the view and how close it was to the conference I was at. The room is small but comfortable. Everything was clean and the A/C was brand new. The rooms are updated but maybe a year or two ago and it is starting to show. They are updating utilities so don't be shocked to see exposed wires on the 2nd floor (where I stayed) there are contractors working there. It is a blue collar hotel. I saw a lot of road construction and state vehicles in the lot which is a good thing because they go to sleep early. The bed was a pillow top but a little firm which is fine for me but my girlfriend wasn't a fan. The room met everything I needed, a desk, a bed and a shower because I was there for about 9 hours a day. I didn't try the restaurant next door but did walk around the area. If your going to a Senators game you can walk there in about 10-15 minutes. The park across the street and along the river has plenty of people jogging and walking their dogs so it's not sketchy at all. If you just need a place to sleep and shower this is a great choice based on their normal rates compared to the rest of the places downtown. If I was visiting the area I would definitely have chosen a more comfortable hotel. read more

I had a family emergency that brought me to town in the middle of the night, and I reserved the room on the way. When I got to the hotel, I had an ID that was not a drivers license ( I had accidentally left my house without it), and they refused to check me in. I asked if my husband could use his ID, and the woman behind the desk said then he would have to pay for the room with his card, even though I showed a receipt showing I had already paid on mine. The desk clerk insisted that the payment had been taken by the booking site, even though I showed the receipt saying that the hotel had actually already taken the payment. I tried to explain the situation, and why I was in Harrisburg, which was a family emergency. The desk clerk was not at all pleasant, and insisted I leave immediately or she would call security... Zero customer service, zero understanding, and even with the mitigating circumstances, she refused to issue a refund for the room, insisting I had to go to the booking site, and also refused to check me into the room. I ended up having to find, and pay, for another hotel at 1 AM. I would NOT recommend this hotel to anyone, especially checking in while this particular unpleasant desk clerk is on duty. During my family's stay we were confronted with a room where many things were, um broken? door knobs, handles, electric outlets, ect. Air-conditions are old and there is no air condition corridors. Air-conditions works very slow in lobby and are not effective. Lobby is warm , corridors are burning hell hot. Pool is nice . Breakfast was great for price , it is good as free breakfast . It is 10-12 miles away from Hersey park, it like 20 minutes. It was 45-50 minutes away from Dutch wonderland . It was ok experience . We wanted an affordable but decent place not too far from Hershey and hit the jackpot! Everything about our stay here has been nice and stress free. We checked in with absolute ease, our room, while a little crammed with 2 double beds and the other furniture, was clean and had nice furniture with updated TV, fridge and microwave, which came in very handy. The location itself is on the river and we enjoyed a nice walk and beautiful sunset along the river our first night here. There is also a community park/playground right next door. The breakfast has a wide assortment and is kept well stocked all morning. My husband and son enjoyed swimming in the pool. The employees have all been very professional and friendly. We have been on many road trips and this has been one of my favorite hotel experiences. read more

The location of this hotel was perfect for my meeting but the quality is one of the worst i have seen. i travel 80 to 90% of my time across the us and worldwide but what I encountered in this hotel os beyond believing. I checked in late and went to bed hoping to het some good sleep. I woke up arround 3.45am which a itching feeling over my body. After turning on the light i noticed ants crawling over the bed and night stand. They where all over the floor crawling up the nigh stand and bed. I went to the reception and when i showed him the picture i toke he was shocked. keep in mind it's october in pa. He said he would inform the manager and gave me another room. I was very tired and went to the new room. Before going to bed i checked the entire room and this room was not better. I found strange bug like items in the bed amd beside the bed on the ground there was food crums. I have stayed in main land china hotels far away from western population but the where superior to the comfort inn. I dont think i could be more disgusted. I went to the manaher in the morning and he clearly was not aware of this massive customer satisgaction issue. my personal experience with comfort inn is not bad in general but this was truly a horror stay which came a couple of weeks early to halloween. read more

You can walk through the nearby park along the picturesque river or you are close enough to stroll to the restaurants and bars downtown. Nice clean quiet rooms too with a microwave and mini fridge. During my recent stay in June 2021 at this establishment I experience the following. The reason why I am writing this is to warn future guests if this place. My overall assessment of this place is that it is DISGUSTING. The bed sheets , the pillows, and the floor were dirty. The floor felt sticky, like it has never been cleaned. The towels were not change and had dirt from the last person who visited. Seriously, my wife thought it look like old ***t stuck to the towel; it smelled like poop. The curtains were broken with holes everywhere. They used tape to patched up the damage. The wall paper had moled in them and the Entire hotel smelled like cigarettes even though it is a non-smoking facility. This has been one of the worst experiences I have had at a Quality Inn hotel. I had originally booked for a two night stay but decided after minutes entering that it would only stay for one night. I feared for my families health and booked a room at another hotel. The Quality Inn Riverfront is located right on the river. The room was large and comfortable. I had a huge tv and some great channels. I loved the huge bathroom and shower. The bed was beyond comfortable. I slept amazingly well. I loved the complimentary breakfast each morning. The waffle station is quick and easy. It is a great breakfast spread of muffins, cereal, juices, milk, eggs, meat, and yogurt. It is so great not having to worry about that in the morning. I loved the Pita place nearby on 2nd St. There are many good places to eat nearby on 2nd St. The Farmers Market is not too far but not walking distance. My only complaint is that the hotel doesn't have an elevator even though there are two floors. read more

If it were possible, Absolutely no stars! The only good thing about this hotel was that they would take our dog, (even he didn't like it ). Where to start? Was it the constant remodeling going on? Was it the fact that the outside door key would not work? Was it that our room key would not work so after trying to re-key it, the desk clerk told the Housekeeper to give us his master key, which worked twice. Was it the noise from Front street traffic or the bridge that goes over the hotel? Was it the toilet that ran for over 30 minutes with each flush? Was it the inedible Continental Breakfast complete with individually wrapped curdled cream cheese. ( Not that we were hungry after having popcorn ceiling falling on our faces all night long.) The AC did not work and the air quality was awful my entire family was sneezing and congested for our entire stay and the ac was covered in dust and food particles. I have nothing positive to say about this place not one thing. Upon arriving I witnessed a female smashing liquor bottles in the parking lot during a drunk rage with her daughter. One of the staff members handed her a broom and acted as if that was typical normal behavior for their guests as I walked by appalled. To top things off they charged my card an additional $160 for potential damages and smoking fees regardless if there's any issues or not and you do NOT get that money back for 5-7 business days as I had to call my bank to get to the bottom of it after being given the runaround from their staff. They also hand out frozen breakfast sandwiches and warm water as their complimentary breakfast which I wouldn't have even fed to my dog!! Let alone children. read more

I would never stay here again. We booked a promo rate that was $99 a nite. I guess that is why they gave us the worst room possible. Double bed room (206) and one of the beds was actually just a box spring and mattress on the floor! no frame! The room was NOT CLEANED properly, also. Then there was the TP situation. They would not refill or give u "spare" until the 1st one was empty! Seriously? The rooms are stale smelling and our fridge was not working properly. Pool was OK. 9/3/2013 The front desk people were friendly and mostly*** helpful. The room was a bit rundown looking, but clean. A wheel on the desk chair was broken, but replaced after we called. This chair should not have been in the room in the first place, The top edge was shredded so badly that you could see its innards. The replacement chair was nice, not new, but not broken. The toilet bowl was of the super low variety for people that are accustomed to using holes in the floor. Yes, it felt that low. How about higher toilets, oblong shaped so that those of us with bad knees to not have to suffer! The rest of the bathroom was fine. The bed was not hard nor soft, but is a bit warped so that from wherever you lie, the body would want to roll towards the middle. Breakfast is a continental breakfast with waffle makers, hard-boiled eggs, sausage, all the breads etc. No complaints with breakfast. The pool looks nice but we did not get a chance to use it. That's too bad since the depth on it was quite nice - not the 4 or 5 foot depths of many motel pool. There was only one rickety luggage cart for the entire first floor. There are no elevators to the 2nd floor. Think before you book a room. One side of the motel faces the river and walking along the river is nice. The location is good, but it can be difficult to find the entry way when traffic is barreling along the one-way roads. Once you figure out the traffic patterns, it's not so bad. To eat, you need to drive to restaurants or walk. It is not too bad a walk to 2nd and Market St. where many restaurants can be found; a bit farther are the capitol and government offices. It is a lot of walking if you don't want to drive these heavily traveled roads and one-way streets, or pay for the cost of parking. We did have one real complaint that was somewhat blown off by the front desk in the morning of checking out. That is with the practice of shoving closing bills under the door early in the morning before checking out. These bills do not always make it under the door completely, and with names and addresses appearing on the bill, anyone can find out who you are, where you live and that your are hundreds or thousands of miles from home. This makes it easy for someone with ulterior motives to contact a friend in your hometown and rob that home of yours, as a example. Knowing someone's name can also be used in scamming relatives out of money when thieves claim they are calling on your behalf because you are "injured," for example. These kind of stories are on the news all the time. A simple solution would be to NOT use a persons name and address on these billing statements. *** The front desk did not seem to care about leaving bills in hallways for anyone to pick up and claimed that this only happened " today." I really doubt that. The motel should really care and try to prevent ID theft, etc. Being blown off by the front desk is what irked us the most. They did not even apologize. I was tempted to pick up the bills in the hallway and send post cards to each of the addresses on those bills, but that would have been wrong too. read more

I stayed here recently with my wife and kids while visiting Hershey and we were very disappointed with this place. I actually didn't book this place, someone else in our party did. I didn't even think to look it up and read up on reviews. Wish I had done so. But it's for this very same reason that I'm writing this one. Here is the scoop. The hotel is extremely run down and dirty. So I'm a little surprised by some of the better reviews here, but I suppose it's all relative to your standards and what you are used to. Here is our experience: * the hallway walls were very run down; walls were scratched, patched, dirty. * the air quality also felt heavy, not fresh. * the carpet looked dirty, dusty and felt sticky as if it had a permanent layer of muck on it. And not just the hallway carpet, our room also. We didn't dare walk on it barefoot. * or room walls were dirty * our room curtains were dirty and dusty * our bed headboards had a layer of dust on them; clearly the room hadn't been dusted in some time * our AC wall unit was dirty, dusty and again looked as if it had a permanent layer of muck from not being cleaned well over time. The wall behind the AC unit was all cracked. * the office desk chair, old and the leather ripped * the breakfast area is very small, making for a cramped breakfast experience. * the hotel is near the edge of Harrisburg, near the highway. If you get a room on the parking lot side, you will hear traffic noise. Overall we were skeeved out by this place and we debated long and hard about staying the night or canceling and going else where. We decided to stay because other folks in party were staying there. I don't recommend this place at all. It needs major updating, maintenance and cleaning. I normally try to point out positives in a review, but i honestly can't think of one given our experience and the short duration of our stay. We won't be staying here again. read more

Let me just say that I booked this hotel to stay somewhat locally to Hersheypark, so I was not expecting excellence (as I did not plan on being in the room except to sleep). However, even after setting the bar as reasonably low as I did in terms of expectation, this Comfort Inn really didn't deliver. Now, I've stayed at nice Comfort Inns before and am no stranger to less-than-Hilton standards -- please don't misunderstand where I'm coming from. This hotel just didn't do it. The location is nice-ish. There are some drawbacks, though; don't take my "nice location" comment unconditionally. It's annoying to get out of the hotel because you need to go around the block, as the entrance to the road is one-way. There isn't really a direct way to exit other than drive through the surrounding neighborhood (which is strange, but not altogether detestable and rundown or anything). The one side of the hotel overlooks the Susquehanna River (but, of course, our room did not). If you don't get the river-viewing side, you are treated to a view of the parking lot. Otherwise, if you venture past the quaint little multi-colored town homes in the immediate vicinity and go a few streets in the wrong direction, and you are in the ghetto. If you do care to do so, there are walking paths and beautiful historical buildings on the rest of Front St. along the river. The rooms are decent, but that's owing to the furnishing and styling of the decor. It is not poorly done. However, the toilet would not flush in our room (you had to really wait, hold the handle down, try multiple times). The AC in the room blew cold, but the hotel lobby and corridors were disgustingly hot and sticky. The walls seem super thin to the point that low-volume conversations in the hallway can be heard crystal clear whilst lying in bed. We went to look at the breakfast offered in the morning and got coffee (which was fine and comes out of a weird little machine), but veered away from the edibles. Honestly, at 8am, there were three other guests helping themselves to what looked like dry and old French toast, eggs that were probably microwaved into an oval-esque shape, and there might have been five pieces of sausage left. The Danish looked okay, but even the bananas were overripe. Eh. The walls were scuffed up in the corridors and icky yellow crap was dripping down from each room number, it seemed. Black mold surrounded the grip handle edges in the shower. Gross. The front desk lady was very nice, but that (along with the fact that it's cheap and on the river) is the only redeeming factor of the motel. There is graffiti on the back side of it and you could really do better anywhere else. Do yourself a favor and spend a few extra bucks. Avoid Harrisburg Comfort Inn if you can. read more

Is it possible to give 0 stars? Because this place is HORRIBLE! It's dirty and smells like old cigarettes but yet it's smoke free . On top of disgusting rooms the customer service is absolutely horrendous. The rudest people. Please do yourself a favor and stay far away because it's really not work saving a few $$. Only reason I'm here is because there was horrible traffic on the highway and I need a place to rest with my dog. In addition, if owners or managers reply with nasty comments it just shows you what type of classy establishment. read more

Went here this past weekend as we were visiting Hershey Park. We got a coupon out of a Hotel Coupon book at a rest area on the turnpike for $69 a night. That sounded a lot better than staying at the Holiday Inn in Hershey for $209 a night! The place was run down. The guy at the front desk was a little rude and only recommends his Indian restaurant next door for places to eat. I get that. We ended up going to the Appalachian Brewery up the road. The rooms reminded me of a no tell motel. The fridge did not work and it was hot even with the AC blasting all night. There were some mystery stains on comforter and head board. Everything else seemed clean. And we didn't see any bed bugs so that's always good. Trust me I looked. The breakfast was ok but very crowded. Some people were hogs and piled up 3 plates of food even though the breakfast is very limited. One woman yelled at my wife for using the last of the waffle mix. The woman was pretty ghetto though so that is no surprise. Id say this place is a 2.5 overall read more
