We have stayed at Quality Inn many times in the past because of the good breakfast and clean rooms. Unfortunately, our recent visit was so bad that we will never return. We checked in around 3:30 a.m. on August 10, 2025. The room appeared clean at first, so we relaxed and went to sleep. Around 5 a.m., my wife woke up to give water to our dog and turned on the light--only to notice a red-colored stain on the bedsheet. When she lifted the duvet cover to investigate, we were horrified to find dried dog feces inside. We immediately called the front desk and spoke with Robert. Instead of apologizing, he told us that because it had been more than two hours since check-in, we should have reported it earlier. This response suggested that guests are expected to perform their own cleanliness inspection, which is unacceptable. His tone lacked empathy and basic customer service. Robert offered to bring a clean bedsheet, but after discovering such filth in the bedding, there was no way we could stay in that room. We left early and moved to the Budget Inn, which was far cleaner and more comfortable. We paid $102 plus a $25 pet fee for a disgusting and distressing experience. Absolutely unacceptable for any hotel--especially one we used to trust. I will be sharing photos and this review so others are warned about the standards here. read more

We were traveling with small children when we stopped to stay here. The staff was very accommodating and friendly. Pet friendly hotel, which is what we were looking for. Our room was poolside although we didn't have the opportunity to swim or enjoy the hot tub. The breakfast the next morning was very good. Every staff member I encountered was friendly and helpful!! Our room was very clean and comfortable! Out of the many hotels we stayed at in various states, this one was by far the best and the most reasonably priced!! Stayed here for one night on a work trip. Showed up at 10 PM after booking online midday. Gentlemen at front desk was very kind and had great customer service. Overall, the room is pretty raggedy. It does look pretty dirty when you look in cracks and crevices, but the bed and pillows were very comfortable. Bathroom had good lighting. Shower worked fine in the room was fairly cheap. read more

Hotel is in need of a remodel. Carpet in my room was thin. Paint is old and drab. I would rate mattress comfort at about a 6 out of 10. The guy at the check in counter was super friendly and welcoming. Forgot his name, but he's from North Carolina originally. The room was nice and big, super comfy bed with a nice sized shower. The tv was waaaaay too small for that room though, made watching shows tough. But the room was nice and clean, and I'd gladly stay there again. Couple negatives: Hall doors to exteriors dont lock, so anyone can wander inside the bldg. I saw a lot of homeless folks in the area as well, but it didn't freak my out. Just seems like something they'd want to have fixed. Also, the gfci receptacle had one outlet that was black where something had burned up while plugged in. I didn't mess with it, but it looks pretty bad. All in all a fair price for a nice room. Nice indoor poop with jacuzzi too. read more

Taking a relaxing limited exposure getaway here is completely unrealistic! First we discovered there's no COVID-19 disinfectant measures utilized and normal cleaning protocols are extremely limiting. The hallway leading to room was an obstacle course of unmasked and masked workers, tools, and drywall. Later we learned from local word of mouth the hotel had recent Covid outbreak and closure not from hotel. Then adding to the health risk to my family and potential physical harm to myself was discovering my car was side-swiped during the night while in the parking lot. I highly so not recommend this Quality Inn. I've stayed in many of them Quality Inn's. This is by far the WORST! We were driving through so we're really tired. Hotel smelled but at this point we were exhausted from driving so just dealt with it. I woke up the next morning to show and wow if o would have noticed the black mold on the. Wiling I would have instantly left. Just shocked as now as I leave this review I see that someone out a black mold review on here months ago. This is an older hotel but has been partially updated. New carpets, premium linens and comfy beds. Still needs more upgrades like new paint. Very spacious room and updated bathroom with LED lighted mirror. Front staff was friendly. This was a last minute stop and for the price 1/2 of what other hotels in area I would say this was a hidden gem. Would stay again!!! read more

This place needs to be commended- we are doing a very long road trip. We decided to stay over one night in Trinidad. The check in process was nearly midnight. I paid cash and card was on file for rsvp and damages. Bed was firm and room was nice and cool. No complaints! Kids got into the warm pool that morning and ate breakfast. The mountain views from the pool was a welcome sight. Fast forward - a few days later we noticed a charge for the room on the bank card. I can't find the receipt and I'm thinking the worse ..my word against theirs. I called and was greeted by Sophia - she was very helpful. Fixed the mistake on their end. This place is nasty. The carpeting probably hasn't been changed since it was built. Everything is old and smelly. I wacked my ankle with the metal bar sticking out from the bed frame just walking to and from the bathroom. Took me a while to get to sleep because the chemicals they used were so overpowering. Woke up with my eyes half swollen shut. Went to take a shower & there is MOLD all over the ceiling above the shower. Other motels & hotels at least offered something for breakfast. Nothing was available here - probably a good thing since the place was so disgusting. $122.53 for the night in the moldy dungeon. read more

Kids in and out of hot tub with no supervision. There is a sign that you have to be 14 or older but it's not enforced. Restaurant closed. Housekeeping knocked on our door in the morning to see if we were gone. Woke us and our dogs up. They then brought a do not disturb sign but it was too late. Damage done. They give a grab and go breakfast yet the hotel next-door offers a full hot breakfast. Outside doors do not lock which is a big security issue. Pet rooms smell. Rooms and bathrooms need updating. WiFi is not very good. We had a terrible time making phone calls. When I complained about everything I did get a $35 adjustment. Big deal. We paid $220 for the room (weekend, last minute) and thought we would have a nicer room and better service. Keep looking. You can find better. We canceled our second night. read more

Initial room had bed bugs which is just really gross. They moved us to another room, which seemed big free but still really gross.

Mold in the bathroom. Was changed to a room that still had trash (after 7pm and check in is 3pm). There was a bear outside but the side door did not lock. The doors of the building were left open all morning to air out the stale smoke stay. Definitely not worth my money.......... read more

My granddaughter was traveling south on I-25 and called me late in the evening that the highway ahead was closed due to a blizzard and she wasn't going to be able to get to the HI in Raton. I called them and they cancelled the reservation with no charge. If the road is closed and you can't get there, they understood. She thought she could get to Trinidad and spend the night there and hopefully head on the next morning. It was about 7PM when I made the reservation at this Quality Inn. By 8:00 she called that the Colorado DOT had closed the highway just south of Pueblo and she wouldn't be able to get to Trinidad. I immediately called the hotel and was told they would cancel the reservation without charge. But, I was charged. I contacted Quality Inn HQ and they told me that I should not have been charged and they would contact the manager and also gave me his email address. I emailed him but I received no response. A follow up email. No response. I contacted HQ again and they were very nice and said I shouldn't be charged but they have no control as this hotel is a private franchise. They contacted the manager again. Still no refund and no response. I understand the cancellation policy but if the highway dept. closes the highway and you can't get there, most people would understand and not keep the $143 for which they provided no service, no linens had to be washed, no water or electricty used, no breakfast eaten. All profit for an apparently greedy general manager. read more

After traveling about for 11 days and having driven for about 10 hours we stopped in Trinidad, New Mexico as most of the hotels were book up. It became obvious why this hotel still had rooms. First they used their parking lot where the patrons were supposed to park, but instead put a used car lot in at least 2/3's of it. The people shopping for cars and the car salesmen approached us as we were exiting our vehicle. One of the salesmen asked if we wanting to sell ours. Did the Hotel actually think this was acceptable?? I don't know if anyone else had this experience but it is unacceptable when you just wanted park your car to rent a room for the night. They also had the swimming pool in the lobby....seriously!!! Pretty tacky. The staff was hard to find so that we could check-in. The rooms were adequate but you could tell that it has very little maintenance. The sink plug was broken, the AC unit was extremely loud. I didn't expect this to be the Hampton Inn (which have always been far better as these hotels, though separately owned and operated, you can always know they will be exceptional) This place is way over priced for the quality. It ranks closer to a MOTEL than a Hotel. Cannot recommend this place even in an emergency. Sleeping in your car would be better. read more

Beds were comfy, room was clean. They were able to take my adult daughter & me in at 11pm at night when we got tired on the first part of a 13 hr road trip. Woman at the desk was pleasant. Due to COVID the breakfast room was closed. We were each handed a to-go bag for breakfast which we didn't open until getting to the car. To our dismay each bag contained three granola bars. I think a fruit, a muffin & a juice would have been more appropriate! Quality needs to step it up!! read more

The staff is quite friendly, but this hotel charges as much as the new Holiday Inn Express across I-25. And that price is way too much for the age, wear and tear, and bed quality of this hotel. For example, the bed I am currently typing this from is so broken down that it tips downward towards its head. The room was decent and our stay was ok, but the manager is the rudest. Acts all nice until time to settle up. Then she charges our 3 night stay of $336 without releasing the $346 hold that was on our card. When asked why she says it will clear in a few days. Bank says she has to hit a button. Choice hotels cannot override and cannot get her to do it. We call her again for the 3rd time with no luck. So now because of this we are stuck in Trinidad with a negative balance in our bank and all she can say is it will clear up in a few days when everyone is saying all she has to do is hit expire on the hold. Quality Inn Trinidad ruined our whole vacation and we will never use choice hotels again! Deleting our membership and will never recommend again! read more

Due to the Coronavirus this hotel is not serving any kind of hot breakfast. Instead you will receive a small brown paper bag with a Pop Tart, a granola bar, and a package of Belvita crackers. Perfect for that 6 year old travelling companion. With a Walmart within walking distance you would think that the management there could purchase some pre-packaged muffins or Danish. But that would take effort and that is something the management here lacks. On the night we arrived there was only one person on duty so it took nearly an hour to get checked in. Other than that and being put in a smoking room when we reserved non-smoking, which caused my wife to have an asthma attack, and the sagging mattress in the fold-out sofa, we had a wonderful night. Luckily there is a Wendy's right across I-25 and they do have a hot breakfast. read more

This was at one time a Holiday Inn that this group purchased and continues to operate. Knowing the original layout is at least 40 years old should keep this in perspective. The bad: Exterior door to this wing was broken. Anyone could come into the hotel through that portal, guest or not. Paint peeling in the bathroom and a heavy smell on cleaner/disinfectant. The good: The staff has been very friendly and accommodating. The price this time of year is very reasonable. Spending less than $60 for a room for one night while passing through was nice. The room has both refrigerator and microwave. The TV is an acceptable size. Hot breakfast of scrambled eggs, sausage and etc is included. I recommend you avoid the egg product- no way those are real eggs. :-P I wouldn't pay prime season rates but at this cost point it was a good deal. read more

Do not stay here if you want a clean room. Our room was filthy. It was run down and needed huge repairs to the room and the whole hotel. The walls in the bathroom had old dirt on them and hair on the floor. The water pressure was so bad I couldn't get the shampoo out of my hair. The sink had toothpaste from last customer in it.The carpet was so dirty you could see the dirt even though it was Brown carpet. I'm glad I brought my own cleaner because it was just so disgusting. The dustruffel on the bed was screwed on so you know it wasn't cleaned often. The mattress was uncomfortable. Just go somewhere else and be safe. read more

This place took me in at 3 am. They said they usually have a couple rooms open when the La Quinta and Holiday Inn are all full up. It's fairly cheap, and the rooms are simple as expected but there's a decent pool and from checking for a vacancy to being in my room took maybe 8 minutes. If you need a place on a long highway stint, this isn't half bad. They allow late checkout, if you ask for it at checkin, until noon for no charge. read more

I was shocked! Last night my wife and I got stuck in Trinidad. We chose quality inn just south of Wall Mart. Just as the door broke seal, "cat piss"! We work with cats so for most people the odor would have choked em. The bathroom walls and ceiling and bed spread had good spots. The filth on secondary surfaces had been accumulated over years. When you stay budget hotels some things are expected. But during a pandemic like Vivid 19 at least take 15 minutes to wipe syrenge blood from walls and change the sheets. When I confronted the manager and suggested a partial refund she responded " you should have said something sooner. It makes more sense to clean the room properly rather than expect a guest to tell you the room is unsanitary. This place is dangerous on many more levels. I will notify health department first thing in the morning because this dump needs to be shut down and the owners arrested. Sleep in your car if you're snowed in. Or even the over passes. The showers are awesome after you disinfect them yourself. To the owners and staff. I hope you do better tomorrow. I forgive you all and wish you the best. I'm a super easy to please traveler but this hotel was on a whole different level. Swimming pool, pool table, and vending machines were out of order. Rooms were filthy. We woke up in the morning and the power was completely out (which also led us to oversleep our alarm), hotel promised a reimbursement for part of our stay and 4 weeks later we haven't seen anything. And the kicker, I left a nice blanket in the room. Called three times within 5 days, the front desk staff on the first two calls said they didn't have it, finally on the third call the employee was able to locate it and said they would ship it out the next day. Three weeks later and it still hasn't arrived. Just called the hotel again and the front desk employee hung up on me before I could even get out why I was calling. We only stayed here one night on our way somewhere else. I would only recommend staying here if you have no choice. The hotel staff was friendly enough, but the hotel was old and dirty. The carpets were dirty, the sheets were so worn out you could see through them, the towels were so old they felt like sandpaper, the furniture was dirty. The refrigerator did not work. The breakfast was so sad. The fruit was oranges and apples, the yogurt and milk were in a cooler that did not work. I brought this to the server's attention and they just looked at it and walked away. The orange juice tasted like water. Our deadbolt on our door did not work and the side and back doors did not lock to the outside. Very Very unsafe. read more

This was the worse place I ever stayed at. I was told that I could check in early and was never told I would have to pay a fee. The lady at the front desk charged me $35.00 to check in at 10 am. The hotel is very old and outdated. The manager was rude. Just a whole bad experience period. I would not recommend this place ever. read more
