I finally called Daymakers and Lisa, who answered the phone, was so sympathetic to my situation; she said she would try to figure it out for me. After about 20 minutes, Lisa called me back and said that 2 of her movers were finishing another job and were supposed to be done for the day but they agreed to come out and help me out of my situation! I called to reschedule and was told by Chloe that there would be a $25.00 fee for rescheduling. Management would absolutely not budge on this EVEN knowing i was only rescheduling because cleaning cannot be completed without running water AND this change was required outside of my control. So happy this happened before I wasted hundreds of dollars on a cleaning with a company that is absolutely inflexible. The reality: the crew arrived at 1:30 PM -- 90 minutes late -- and finished at 6:30 PM. The final bill was ~$1,000, more than double the estimate. This was a light load: ~1,000 lbs, ~35 boxes, no beds or appliances. The crew told me their previous job that morning had also been scoped at 2 hours and ran to 4 -- they arrived exhausted, and it showed. Two movers were sent to what was realistically a 3-man job. Along the way they gouged a wall at my old house and scratched a door and chipped the frame at the new one (see photos). I called their office multiple times during business hours -- no answer. The aftermath has been worse. I disputed in writing with photos. First they told me a damage claim was submitted with a 4-6 week window; two days later the same manager wrote there was "no claim number associated with this one." No adjustment offered. The estimate isn't a plan -- it's a sales tool. If you book them anyway, document everything.

We hired Metcalf for our recent move including packing and unpacking. Unfortunately we wete highly…read moredisappointed. For one, they charged us $2000 more than the estimate. We were told they try and get the estimate within 10% yet this is a 30% increase. We specifically requested an in person walk through ( versus a remote walk though) so they could actually see what needed to be moved to aid them in giving us an accurate estimate . A slight adjustment is to be expected but $2000 is extreme. It is not our fault they miscalculated. We would've gone with a different mover if Metcalf quoted us as much as they are charging now. It makes it seem as if they under bid to secure the job and then charge far more afterwards. Additionally, when we walked through the house after they packed it, several drawers in the kitchen had been left unpacked and totally full. Storage in the family room built in still had items in it. Also, we have missing items including fine dining silver (a wedding gift) and jewelry among other items. Lastly, one of the movers became very argumentative with us after he ripped up the plastic floor protector and refused to put it back down even though they were still moving boxes into the house. Even the other movers were confused by this man's behavior- it was very strange and totally inappropriate. On the plus side, most of the movers were very nice and hard working. The 2 gentlemen who came to unpack were exceedingly nice, worked hard and had great attitudes. Again, the list of the items which may not be replaceable is making this move very difficult. Moving is hard enough as it is, there shouldn't be major issues like these from a company that charges thousands of dollars to supposedly make your move easier . We cannot in good faith, and would not recommend Metcalf Moving and Storage.

Ryan took the initial survey and he was great, friendly, and professional. The day of the move…read morethere were two movers - one tall guy and another shorter guy. I never got their names. The tall guy was overall very abrasive from the start, while the short guy was always really friendly. One of the first things the tall guy said was that we wouldn't make the estimated time and he didn't understand how it was determined, etc... (spoiler: we made time). While moving, I heard a loud noise, like something falling down all the stairs. I asked if something broke and they said "nope, nothing broke." (See attached picture, showing broken piece off of an expensive table). When we finished moving to the new place, I tip handsomely (as I always do) and that did seem to change the tall guy's demeanor.
