You won't hear music or fountains trickling in the background but that's because this office is really set up for physical therapy. I have knots throughout my back and shoulders. She worked them out! It was painful but in order to work out a knot, pain is involved. That's why this is better than a spa where it's all about being pampered. This treatment was about solving problems and for that, I highly recommend it. What she did on my neck worked wonders. One negative is that they really need to post their hours of operation on-line or on their voice mail. Many establichments make the mistake of forgetting to post this somewhere but you can always dig to find it. With this place, it's still a mystery to me. Otherwise, It was a really good experience.

I'm forgetful so I appreciate the reminder texts and how prompt they are in responding. Not to mention their hours are late (7pm I believe) so I used to come after work for a 6pm appt The facility is really clean and I feel safe here. They take my temperature and check my oxygen levels before servicing me. I was afraid of needles (still am) but these needles are painless and after every session, I feel immediate relief. I do acupuncture for stress/anxiety, acid reflux, allergies, blood circulation and from time to time muscle aches or strains. I feel so relaxed and the massage afterwards is incredible. Both Jessie and Deena have miraculous hands and I like my deep tissue massage. I also started doing PT and Dr. Lee is amazing. I've had a bad knee since I've had ACL surgery so he's been helping me with exercises and stretches to increase my mobility and range. You enter Pivotal and it is not a Disney Land like spa with paper flowers and commercial proclivities. You are about to receive a medical massage with therapeutic exclamations. You enter Pivotal touch and you sense a healing energy which is expansive in its nature. The seats seem to have been crafted by a designer well versed in Feldenkrais or the Alexander Technique, and lovely Stephanie greets you with a sublimely uplifting smile that runs counter to all the contrived AstroTurf networking smirks we may encounter in the corporate world which dwells a few steps away. And then, you are warmly greeted by a master whose name is Andrew Diaz. Upon entering his therapeutic room, you begin to feel that time is suspended. I recall how I was focusing on most of my co-workers who were on vacation while I remained in New York. Thanks to Andrew's perfectly executed deep tissue massage, I felt sorry for them. Knots were melted (for lack of a better word) in places that I did not realize had them. Further, he knows exactly how much pressure or lack thereof to exert. I also took my mother who is 80 years old and she confidently commented that this was the best massage of her life. Further, Andrew knows how to listen, appeal to silence or speak. He is one of the most fascinating intellects I have come across and this is coming from a person who gets bored very quickly with small talk or persons who utilize the word "like" in every other syllable. Stephanie also is keen on sharing her knowledge with persons of all ages and backgrounds. Upon listening to them, I never felt I was receiving unsolicited advice. Again, they both have an endearing collective energy that engenders trust which is necessary in any therapeutic relationship or venture. I do not like living in New York City. Corruption abounds, rats come out before and after dusk and property taxes are draconian. However, there are gems like Andrew Diaz whose existence make you realize why you endured all the challenges.

I arrive ten minutes early to my appointment, the receptionist was really sweet and gave me paperwork to fill out. Five minutes later, the door next to receptionist opened, and there was Andrew with one of his patient. He acknowledged me right away and told me he would be with me within five minutes. Once his patient left, we discussed what I wanted him to work on. By this time, fifteen minutes had passed. I make it a habit to watch the times when getting massages because so many masseuses will try to end early. So my knots are very hard, stubborn, old, and very ingrained. I've gone to numerous masseuses to work on them, and they are always surprised about how tough my knots are. Andrew was no different, he commented on how stubborn they were and got to work. Andrew massages are intense; he was actually surprised that the pain wasn't bothering me. The left side of my body has more stubborn knots than the right side, on the left aide I could feel Andrew trying to loosen them and even getting frustrated that he couldn't. He worked more on the right side then the left. He talked the whole time, which I didn't mind, and before I knew it, he said," oh, it's 3:45, we are done", and he abruptly stopped. He then walked out. I was very annoyed after he left, due to his own doing we started late, I didn't get the full hour, and massages aren't suppose to suddenly stop, it's common standard to gently and easily ease into ending the massage. I paid him, thanked him, tipped him and he explained the many different rates and packages he offered. As I was leaving, I noticed that my right side felt better, but the left was hurting because he hadn't spent as much time on it as the right. So to recap: Pros * clean office * convenient location * very deep massage Cons * started fifteen minutes late * I didn't get my full hour * the massage wasn't properly ended * left side didn't get the work it needed. I debated whether or not to go back, ultimately the fact that I didn't get my full hour, to this day annoys me and that alone made my decision to never go back. The office is off Union Ave and definitely needs a make over. Upon entering I was greeted by the friendly front desk receptionist. I was asked to fill out some basic paperwork. I was ushered into the massage room and the massage began. Ellen did a great job on the massage and used chiropractor techniques which was nice. Biggest complaint is that I bought a 60 minute massage and all I got was 40-45 minute massage. Some spots were rushed through which I didn't like. The chiropractic adjustment was very interesting as I was a first timer. I didn't know what to expect but I didn't expect my body to make weird noises like it did. All in all an interesting experience.

Exceptional. Both…read moreJonathan Simon and Susan Hofmann have done exceptional work on me, working through a number of back issues I've had after too many flights in cramped economy seats. They both have an exceptional bed-side (table-side?) manner, and intersperse humour with professionalism, as well as an in-depth knowledge of the human body. Of late, my treatments have been entirely with Susan, and she has been amazing at finding and working out every issue I bring to her. Appointments are easy to come by, and they also don't get twisted if something happens and you need to re-schedule (although try not to do so, as this is a very small practice that has to juggle a lot of patients' needs). I'd always been afraid of acupuncture, but the good folks here helped me get over it and appreciate a new way of feeling better. Truly recommend them, whether or not you like or believe in acupuncture. You just might be surprised by it, and I'm sure the good people at NYC Points will win you over.

It broke after two weeks. Amazon replaced it, but the new one didn't work either. Since Manhattan Wellness stopped selling on Amazon, I had to deal with them directly. After weeks of chasing them down, a woman named Kathy finally replied and said if I paid for shipping both ways -- $60 -- they'd send me a new one. So I did. It took months and multiple follow-ups to get that replacement. By the time it finally showed up, I had already bought a different brand because I needed one for my neck. I stored the Manhattan Wellness one, unopened, until recently. When I finally plugged it in -- nothing. It won't even charge. Total junk. I emailed Kathy again (weeks go by, as usual) and told her I wanted a full refund plus the $60 shipping I paid. Nothing. No response. If they're willing to scam me out of all this money, lie, ignore me, and act completely unprofessional, how do you think that reflects on their actual therapy business? This is a New York City-based therapy and wellness practice that claims to specialize in mental health, couples therapy, and overall well-being. The irony is unbelievable -- a company supposedly helping people heal and feel better can't even treat their paying customers with basic respect. If this is how they operate on the business side, what else are they doing that's unscrupulous behind closed doors? They owe me $300 total, and until they make it right, I'll keep posting this review everywhere. People deserve to know the truth.
