I went to Andrew over six months ago and I debated writing this review. I read awesome reviews about Andrew. Groupon had a deal, so I decided to give it a try. I arrive ten minutes early to my appointment, the receptionist was really sweet and gave me paperwork to fill out. Five minutes later, the door next to receptionist opened, and there was Andrew with one of his patient. He acknowledged me right away and told me he would be with me within five minutes. Once his patient left, we discussed what I wanted him to work on. By this time, fifteen minutes had passed. I make it a habit to watch the times when getting massages because so many masseuses will try to end early. So my knots are very hard, stubborn, old, and very ingrained. I've gone to numerous masseuses to work on them, and they are always surprised about how tough my knots are. Andrew was no different, he commented on how stubborn they were and got to work. Andrew massages are intense; he was actually surprised that the pain wasn't bothering me. The left side of my body has more stubborn knots than the right side, on the left aide I could feel Andrew trying to loosen them and even getting frustrated that he couldn't. He worked more on the right side then the left. He talked the whole time, which I didn't mind, and before I knew it, he said," oh, it's 3:45, we are done", and he abruptly stopped. He then walked out. I was very annoyed after he left, due to his own doing we started late, I didn't get the full hour, and massages aren't suppose to suddenly stop, it's common standard to gently and easily ease into ending the massage. I paid him, thanked him, tipped him and he explained the many different rates and packages he offered. As I was leaving, I noticed that my right side felt better, but the left was hurting because he hadn't spent as much time on it as the right. So to recap: Pros * clean office * convenient location * very deep massage Cons * started fifteen minutes late * I didn't get my full hour * the massage wasn't properly ended * left side didn't get the work it needed. I debated whether or not to go back, ultimately the fact that I didn't get my full hour, to this day annoys me and that alone made my decision to never go back. If I pay for a full hour, I expect a full hour! If they can't provide that, then don't offer it as option!!! On to the next place. read more

I booked an appointment a couple months in advance and was really looking forward to the massage. The location can be a little confusing- it's down a small flight of stairs- if you come to an apartment complex, you've gone a few steps too far. I arrived just on time- he had to set up the room still so I chilled for a bit. Went in, changed. He asked me what I was there for (to relax, or get kinks worked on). I opted for kinks as my right shoulder/ neck was really bothering me those previous few days. His massage is strong. When he got to my calves I was sweating- that hurt the most but it was probably good for me. He didn't talk much during the massage which I prefer- only ran out for a min to grab his dinner that was delivered (and left the door open which I thought was a little weird, but no one was at the office anyways). I would have liked more insight on my body and how to care for myself, but when I asked him for his feedback he did mention to foam roll. Overall massage was good and I would recommend the groupon, but the experience wasn't extraordinary enough for me to go back. read more

I booked an appointment five weeks ago. Andrew canceled my appointment the day before for various reasons (weather, sickness, and train delay). He said it was just "one of those days." I saw that the next available weekend appointment was not for another three weeks. I asked if it was possible to be scheduled any sooner. Andrew, while attempting to accommodate me, criticized my weekend-only availability and suggested that I should not have made this purchase. He said, "I understand you been waiting sometime for this massage but being that you were so time restricted perhaps it wasn't ideal for you to purchase a Groupon from a solo ran therapist. " He said in a later email that I should've been aware that he is the only therapist. If it weren't for this negative interaction, I would've taken the last-minute appointment. But because of the underlying antagonism in his emails, I figured any future appointment would somehow be impaired, thus canceled the appointment altogether. read more

Wow. I've had a dozen "deep tissue" massages in NYC, but after this massage, I realize that none of them were really that deep. I usually request a female masseuse, but Drew is the sole practitioner here. I knew this ahead of time from reading other reviews, but the high ratings convinced me to try it out anyways. Well, within the first few minutes of this massage, I realized that in order to get a truly deep massage, you need strong hands (shocking, I know!) and that I've been missing out this whole time by asking for a female masseuse. Lesson learned. Drew located my trigger points faster than any other masseuse, and he knew just how to work on them in a way that really minimized any discomfort. Every touch, every ounce of pressure was intentional and targeted. Afterwards, my back especially felt softened and relaxed in a way that I can't even describe. Based on efficacy and time, this massage is the best deal in the city. I'm so glad to know about this place and will be coming here regularly. Thank you, Drew! read more

I have a bad back. No, scratch that, I have a horrible back. As a result, I have been to a lot of massage places. At best, I feel better for 2-3 days after visiting. I tried Pivotal Touch on a whim. When I got there I filled out my usual paperwork, Andrew looked at the way I was sitting and said you are in pain, aren't you? I knew right then this would be a different experience. What followed was without a doubt the best massage I have ever had in my life. Even more impressive, I felt better for weeks afterwards. I've tried many different massage places and I've never felt like anyone understood what my body needed like Andrew. I've had a few surgeries, have TMJ and fibromyalgia, (essentially, I'm complicated - so this isn't an easy feat!) He is absolutely amazing (thanks Groupon for the intro). You enter Pivotal touch and you sense a healing energy which is expansive in its nature. The seats seem to have been crafted by a designer well versed in Feldenkrais or the Alexander Technique, and lovely Stephanie greets you with a sublimely uplifting smile that runs counter to all the contrived AstroTurf networking smirks we may encounter in the corporate world which dwells a few steps away. And then, you are warmly greeted by a master whose name is Andrew Diaz. Upon entering his therapeutic room, you begin to feel that time is suspended. I recall how I was focusing on most of my co-workers who were on vacation while I remained in New York. Thanks to Andrew's perfectly executed deep tissue massage, I felt sorry for them. Knots were melted (for lack of a better word) in places that I did not realize had them. Further, he knows exactly how much pressure or lack thereof to exert. I also took my mother who is 80 years old and she confidently commented that this was the best massage of her life. Further, Andrew knows how to listen, appeal to silence or speak. He is one of the most fascinating intellects I have come across and this is coming from a person who gets bored very quickly with small talk or persons who utilize the word "like" in every other syllable. Stephanie also is keen on sharing her knowledge with persons of all ages and backgrounds. Upon listening to them, I never felt I was receiving unsolicited advice. Again, they both have an endearing collective energy that engenders trust which is necessary in any therapeutic relationship or venture. I do not like living in New York City. Corruption abounds, rats come out before and after dusk and property taxes are draconian. However, there are gems like Andrew Diaz whose existence make you realize why you endured all the challenges. read more

I go to Andrew about once a month for a deep tissue massage. I tried plenty of therapists (and spas and Chinatown places!) around the city and was never impressed enough to stick with the same one until I found Andrew. He is very knowledgeable about anatomy and causes of pain. Since going to him my shoulder pain and stiffness has improved drastically. if you are looking for a serious therapist to fix your issues and not just a spa treatment Andrew is your guy. read more

I like a deep tissue massage but have had troubles finding the right massage therapist. deep tissue is not for the faint of heart my friends! Finally I found Andrew! REJOICE! He identified multiple knots and sources of pain and rigorously treated them. His massages provide immediate pain relief! I could actually feel the tension in my neck dissolve. Andrew knows deep tissue better than anyone I ever met. He is extremely thorough before and during the session, making sure you get the most out of your time with him. He will ask you about your problem areas in advance and what you're looking for (relaxation or relief). I received a massage treatment package as a gift and was a bit skeptical at first, but Andrew is definitely the real deal. He knows deep tissue really well, and was able to flatten out all the work related stress knots I get from the day-to-day travails of life. His approach is pretty simple: first he asks where your trouble spots are, then figures out your trigger points, and then he gets to work. I definitely came out far more relaxed and energized. i bought the massage in groupon. first i had trouble to schedule a massage hard to get any availability. after i get the appointment i didnt like the massage neither the treatment the guy andrew gave to me. before we started he asked if i was doling a normal massage or a coupon from groupon (probably if i buy from groupon he treated me different way). he finished at least 5minutes early i bought 60min treatment i arrived a little late and he said he was doing less time cause i was late. but we started the massage at 5.30pm and he finished 6.21pm . i definetely not coming back to this place. read more

Andrew is an expert at deep tissue massage. He knows how to use just the right amount of pressure - enough to get out the knots, but not so much that you tense up because it hurts. He is also a very nice person. The only hesitation I have in recommending him, is that I don't want him to be too busy to fit me in! read more

I found this business on yelp while traveling and wanting a massage. It was great that they were able to accomodate me with a same-day appointment. I have to say this was the best massage of my life. Secondly,it appears that you are unorganized with your appointments. My appointment was NEVER set for memorial day as I was scheduled to work that day. I made the appointment for a day when I was off work and the appointment was for the following week later after memorial day. I even received a confirmation email from you with the date and time of the scheduled appointment. I received an AH-mazing massage from Andrew! I'm an athlete - 28 years weight training and counting. I don't do light "girly" weights - I can do 12 unassisted v-bar pull-ups and then descending sets. All of this is to say I train hard. I've received many massages over the years. Including a few from a man who use to be the masseuse for the NYC Ballet. Andrew's massage was BETTER. Andrew is by far the most knowledgeable masseuse I have ever had. He knew how to release the trigger points in my back, my hip flexors, my glutes, around my knees, etc. All areas where I had been experiencing painful tightness (despite all my foam rolling and stretching at home). Andrew is the guy who got me to stop bouncing around groupon massages and settle down with one therapist. He is by far the best massage I have had and I continued to see him over the 2 years that have followed. I do a lot of workouts at the gym and Andrew has been instrumental in keeping my body in working order. after walking in to his office i was greeted with such a beautiful aroma and a very polite and sweet receptionist. while i waited waited for Andrew to finish his previous appointment i was listening to some music they had playing. i just came off work so i was a little cranky however the music plus the aroma had me feeling relaxed. when it was my turn i was a little nervous since it was my first time but Andrew made me feel comfortable with his professionalism and sense of humor. he really knows his stuff. he was informing me about how my muscles retain my emotions and stress. he is a very good conversationalist and intelligent young man. after it was over and done i felt so much lighter and energetic. my body felt great!!! i wish Andrew the best and hope his business develop into a brand with multiple locations read more

I initially went to Andrew through a groupon for a deep tissue massage to ease my sore muscles from my workouts. Although I have been getting massages for many years with a variety of men and women and at different places, Andrew was so good that I signed up for a series of deep tissue 1 1/2 hour massages right away not at the groupon rate. He was well worth it!! Andrew is very knowledgeable about the body and very skilled at using various methods. He uses a variety of techniques according to what is needed. Not only is he a great massage therapist, personally he is a giving, thoughtful, kind person. I am now seeing him regularly for soreness from exercise, relaxation for the mind and body or just to be pampered. I have recommended him to anyone around me that needs a great massage.
