I can't say enough good things about Quality Roofing! I have an older home in Lafayette, and during the winter of 2018 I had a couple of leaks in my ceiling. An assessment confirmed that I needed a new roof so I called several companies, but it was Quality Roofing who got back to me, and Steve Hubbard came out to give me an appraisal. He got on the roof, and walked around, and checked for problem areas. He also looked at several areas inside where there might be damage caused from a leaking roof. I received a fair estimate within 24 hours, and signed a contract several days later. Steve said they would call when I was on the schedule, which he did, so I knew exactly when the work would start. We are very pleased with the service we got from Quality Roofing from the owner, Robert, coming to give us an estimate & answering all our questions and afterwards thanking us for our business to working with Steve on the phone answering more questions and keeping us informed of time and dates. My experience with Steve and his team was great. Starting off with a tricky driveway they managed to get all their equipment up to the house without a problem. They did a quick tear down of the old roof and before you knew it the team was there putting on the new one! Team was very nice and professional. During the job we had them update our insulation in the attic which ended up being a breeze. Later a group came out and put up our new gutters too which turned out great. They also did a small side roof over our sauna and threw in some dry rot work with some new framing and plywood around the top of the sauna to better stabilize and secure everything. Over the 4 to 5 day project Steve was frequently on-site to make sure everything was going according to plan and I had ample opportunity to talk things over with him as he made sure everything was going to my satisfaction. read more

Don't bother with this company! I was referred to Rich Hubbard and Quality Roofing by a contractor. Rich came out to look at the problem, totally dissed the company that put on the original roof and sent me a quote by snail mail a week later (the other roofers emailed their quote). I called to ask what the new roof would look like. He told me he would try to find something that could show me. After I had not heard from him for a week I called him. He immediately started complaining about how busy he was. Booked through the middle of July. In fact, too busy to do this job. Mr. Hubbard, for as wonderful as he thinks he is, still has not learned the basics of finding and keeping good customers: Treat them well. We just removed our old shake roof and installed a new composite roof, gutters and ventilation. I compared roofing products, construction options, five contractors and multiple references and settled on Quality Roofing 925 935 1380. They were referred 4x on our NextDoor neighborhood site, so I knew they were known in the neighborhood. Steve Hubbard was my contact and he was great. His brother, Rich, was involved in the past, but passed away last Fall (2013) so now Steve and Rob have taken the helm (just in case there was any confusion). No question I threw at Steve was too much or too difficult. He not only answered them, helped research answers, but also proactively offered alternatives, discussed options and provided a simple and clear quote. Once the work started, on the scheduled date, it was amazingly efficient and all professional. Old roof removed in 4 hours, new roof in place in 2 days. Finishing touches another day, and DONE. They paid attention to detail, were efficient, clean, and in my opinion did an excellent job. Ask him about the need for good attic ventilation to prolong the shingles and the manufacturer warranty. He will have the answers. Also, they have insurance and are State licensed. I would definitely recommend Steve and Quality Roofing if you are considering any roofing work. The service we received from Steve Hubbard and his team was excellent, from the bid process through completion of the project. We had a tight time deadline to get this project done, and Steve helped by getting another customer to delay his project so that ours could be done during a break in the rainy weather. Here is an Update to my first review. First let me say that I increased the rating because I realized that I was reviewing Mr. Hubbard and not the business. If you look at the reviews, most of them are quite good. In addition, they were recommended by Mortensen Roofing, a company I have dealt with before but who couldn't help me before October. Mr. Mortensen would not have sent me to these people if they were not reputable. Mr. Hubbard has left two very length voice mails on my answering machine pressuring me to remove my review. First he apologizes profusely and in the next sentence attempts to justify himself, saying he does not think they deserve the review. He stated how his company was trying to clean up their online image and how reviews like mine really hurt them. He said he was responsible for the livelihoods of not only himself but his workers and their families and for that reason he tries to screen out unpromising prospects before doing quotes because giving quotes is very expensive for the company. While I am not unsympathetic, as the consumer none of this is my problem. Giving estimates, like advertising, is part of doing business and the cost is the cost of doing business. This is your first contact with your customer and will likely determine how things go henceforth. You need to make nice. Complaining about the cost of giving a quote makes you sound desperate, unprosperous and like your company is floundering. If they really are a poor prospect then wait for them to say something that disqualifies them, like accepting payment thru escrow, and then kindly say, "Ms. Sharon, I am so sorry but my company doesn't accept payment thru escrow" instead of shouting, "No. No escrow!" And lastly, try not to take calls while you are walking to a meeting for which you are already 15 minutes late. You can not possibly give your prospective customer the attention they deserve under those circumstances. Mr. Hubbard said he was not a bad person and that he didn't understand how I could have been so offended because that was never his intent. Maybe it was something he said ;) read more

Let me start by saying we had a leak in our roof and we called Quality Roofing. They came out same day within two hours of the time we called. They repaired our roof and scheduled to come back for an estimate to replace our roof along with all woodwork that needed to be done. We received three bids and they were all pretty close but the attentiveness and the attention to detail that Steve spent explaining and showing us samples was very much appreciated. It really made his company stand out from the others. All of the employees were very professional, on time and efficient. They were very clean and made sure they did not leave anything behind. All of the services offered between our roof, insulation and gutters was all coordinated through Steve. It was a big help instead of us coordinating the other contractors. Any time we had questions, Steve responded quickly and explained everything thoroughly. We felt very comfortable with Steve and all of his employees. I found these guys through Yelp. Rich just finished up a job at my house. He called me last week to say he would not be starting on time because of the impending rain, of which I was not aware. His guy came out and put plastic over the whole house on a Sunday. He did not charge me for this. He also warned me about the need to get some sheet metal work on the chimney which he arranged and installed for a very reasonable price. Even coming back to install after the fireplace guys had sort of messed up their installation making Rich's job more difficult and causing another trip for Rich and his crew. I asked him if he could move a fan that I may have mis-located on the roof and he just said, "Not a problem, just call us when you know for sure where you want it." Maybe one of the values of Yelp is to be able to criticize so that vendors can read and improve. He was totally professional, efficient and low cost with me. If not, I would never write this. We actually received a few extras at no additional charge...the roofers were diligent and extremely conscientious...not one of the old removed shingles ended up in the yard or the pool. Rich came out, delivered a professional, reasonable quote by email, and did exactly what they said and more. He told us his crew would arrive at 7.30 am and the job would take three days (estimated). They showed up at 7.15, were on the roof tearing the old one out by 7.20, and were done by 6.30 the same day--just in time for a rain storm the following day! We had an exceptionally good experience with Rich of Quality Roofing. We had 3 other bidders, all of whom were top rated roofers in the area. Quality Roofing's bid was not only the lowest but it also included the gutters as well. The savings was significant. He provided good advice and suggested we upgrade our two skylights. They have performed as well as he said they would and are a significant improvement over what we had. Even though they ran into some difficulties installing the skylights, they never complained or asked for more money. They thought it would take 3 weeks to get to our roof and then called to see if they could start in just 2 weeks. We agreed. They started when they said they would and completed the job on time. They were as neat and clean as they said they would be. We've had the roof for 4 months, 3 which have been wet and haven't had any problems. When we commented that the gutters were noisier - they came out and took down the downspouts and lined them with a material to make them quieter. When we mentioned that on occassions some water came off of one eave they installed a diverter plate which they painted to match the roof. All without charge or complaint. I've talked to others I know in construction about some of the details of their work and confirmed that they follow high standards. We highly recommend Quality Roofing. I noticed that the address listed in Yelp has Quality Roofing in Walnut Creek while the card I have from them shows Quality Roofing in Pleasant Hill. My roof was installed in early June. The quality of the work seems good, as far as I can tell from my layman's perspective, but I'm very disappointed with the poor communication with Quality Roofing's Steve Hubbard; the lack of adequate clean-up; and a broken promise which has yet to be resolved. First: I was promised that all my plants would be covered while the roofers were working, especially during the take-down when three layers of roofing were removed. This didn't happen, no one ever covered up my landscaping with plastic sheeting, and three and a half months later I'm still finding nails and chunks and shards of roofing material in my plants. Second: The take-down crew arrived three hours late on the first day and continued to work until 9 p.m., which was very disruptive for me and for my neighbors. By the time they left, it was too dark to do sufficient clean-up and there was dust and grime everywhere. Third: from the beginning, Steve was very slow in responding to e-mails and phone calls and didn't contact me to confirm the color of roofing until three days before the project began. When I tried to contact him, he wasn't available. Fourth: I was promised that an old furnace duct on the side of my house would be removed. Even though this was not part of the contract, it was a verbal promise and Steve said repeatedly that he would honor it. Three and a half months later, the duct is still there. I paid $15,000 for this job (including $1200 for new attic insulation), and I paid promptly and in full. Apparently, courtesy and good faith are one-way streets with Quality Roofing. read more
