We happened into this place 6pm on a Friday evening after hiking the Badlands NP. They were on a 45 minute wait, so we sat at the bar. The bartender/manager both explained that the kitchen was super backed up and we would have to wait 30 mins before even ordering. We were starved but decided to get some brews and enjoy the free chips and salsa. We ordered the Steak Chimichanga with white cheese dip on top and the Carnitas Nachos which were massive! The chimi had literally an entire steak inside of it and was delicious. Their white queso dip was also good along with the chips. Unfortunate wait, but the communication made it bearable and we enjoyed our time! The place had tons of seating in separate rooms and also a large outdoor patio. Wow what wonderful time we have had at Que Pasa , we sat at the bar for a few cocktails after having not the best experience at The Firehouse Brewing co. Mary and Audi were a breath of fresh air , so welcoming. We sat at the bar and had a few fantastic EL Dorado margaritas and wow !!!! I'm on a trip in South Dakota & last night we gave Que Pasa a try. Overall it was a great restaurant. We sat outdoors & were greeted by an awesome waitress. She brought us chips & salsa. The salsa was excellent & fresh. It had a lot of flavors mixed in including chili, cumin, & tomatoes. I ordered cheese enchiladas with red sauce on half, & green sauce on the other half. The red sauce was kind of disappointing. It was mild & almost sweet. The green sauce was great though, with a little heat to it. The beans were decent & the rice had corn mixed in making it quite unique. Overall it was a nice evening. We had such a great experience that we actually went there twice today. We saw the billboards and I had read about this place while we were driving to Ellsworth AFB. I was surprised that the reviews were all over the place, so we decided to give it a try. It was worth the trip! Those reviews that stated there was no flavor or there was too much heat were definitely off base! The salsa was excellent! The calamari was just as good and the lemon aoli made it even better! In addition to the great food, the service was awesome. Tony was our server for our lunch trip. We enjoyed chatting with him so much we decided to return for happy hour! We sat at the bar for happy hour and Rad was our server. The margaritas were excellent and we placed another order of calamari to take with us for dinner later. Debating between a 2/3, I'll round up to a 3, because I think they were short staffed which is why our service (and could visibly tell the tables around us,had POOR service). We added a strawberry flavoring to our margarita, the drink tasted like nothing, no flavor no tequila. The menu was huge to choose from, but we went easy with salsa, guac, queso, burrito & tacos. The rice & beans came out cold and hard. My husband LOVED his burrito, said it was warm, and flavorful. Our meals were supposed to come with "Sweet Corn Cake", it wasn't delivered with it, so I did ask and she said "we're out", no discount or offer of anything else. Water and drink refills were sparse. And I really wanted churros, but she dropped our food, never checked in after that, and then just dropped our bill, on the table and said "I'll wait here so I can take your card and run it now", no time for me to look over the bill and felt rushed out. Found this place while traveling through Grand Rapids and was mostly satisfied! It's a really big place with indoor and outdoor seating. It seems super clean and is very festive! Our server was very sweet, attentive, and most importantly, she was knowledgable about my gluten allergy. Though not labeled well for allergies, the menu included many options for gluten free individuals, which I loved! I always wait a day to leave a review so that I can know for sure my food was gluten free - and this place did a great job! :) As for food, they start you with corn based chips and salsa, which was great! I ordered the surf n turf fajitas, which came with rice, beans, corn bread, and tortillas. The steak and shrimp were a little over cooked but the rest was really yummy! My husband loved his tacos, which also came with the same sides. As for drinks, I loved my skinny marg but he felt as though the two he ordered hardly had any alcohol. Our waitress never let our cups go under half. Portions are very large and easily shareable. My drink was excellent and they didn't skimp on the alcohol. And prices were extremely reasonable. Being in Fort Worth, TX and reviewing a Mexican food restaurant is not news but if the place is in Rapid City, SD it is! On vacation and saw highway billboard signs for 50 miles which were funny and witty and bragged about how good they were so we called them on it today for lunch. In downtown Rapid City, the place is large with a good sized patio which was full so we sat inside. Comfortable booth, clean overall but our table was a bit sticky in places, reminded me of our local spots. Waitress brought waters, chips and salsa in about 4 minutes. Salsa was amazing; more of a Arizona vibe than Texas but bright and sharp in the taste and texture. Chips were slightly larger with more corn flavor. The Wife ordered Cadillac nachos and they were superb. Huge pile of crispy chips layered with delicious beef, beans, white queso, sour cream sauce, quac and something new, fried, pickled jalapeños. The jalapeños were very good and this was the first time I ever saw them, think fried pickles. I chose the Three Amigos; one shredded beef, one carnitas, and one chicken taco all with speciality sauces, drizzles and toppings. Things like lime cream on the carnitas, poblano pesto on the beef and a great pico on the chicken. Beans and rice were good with the beans having a good flavor and heat of jalapeños. Another first for me was a crumbled cornbread, sweet and rich added as a sweet bite to help cut though the richness of the tacos. Long story short, my Wife ate the sweet treat and I finished her nachos. Service was fast and efficient. Never had to ask for anything. I highly recommend this when you are in the area. read more

A very unremarkable place. The staff wasn't rude but no one we encountered was friendly and no one smiles. Service was average for Rapid City. The food wasn't bad. It's actually hard to describe. Spices and seasonings were almost totally absent. My wife's shrimp fajitas were good and the amount of shrimp was HUGE! My beef enchiladas meal was disappointing. The enchiladas were tiny and flavorless. I ordered the green sauce as it was described as the more spicy choice. No spice there. The refried beans were good but the rice was dry and having corn mixed in is not for me. The item they call a corn cake I'd describe as a scoop of half-baked cornbread. No thanks. Decoration is standard Tex-Mex and the place seems much louder than it should be. There are better Mexican restaurants in Rapid City and we will go there. I doubt we return to Que Pasa. read more
