I had a great overall experience, but a there were a few things at Queen Spa that didn't sit right with me. First, I made an online appt with Danny, and when I came in, he was not assigned as my nail tech. Not a huge deal, but why is there the option to pick a nail tech when making an appt online if it is not honored? Second, I wish I had been given a heads up on how incredibly PAINFUL the hard gel is. I got a Russian manicure with hard gel, and I have never experienced this kind of pain in my life. I have a high pain tolerance - I'm covered in tattoos and piercings. When I asked my nail tech if it was normal, she said it's because I had the Russian manicure first (pushing my cuticles back, etc.). If this was the case, why would she fail to inform me of the pain I would experience, or why would she not suggest doing something else? Another nail tech next to us was coaching her, so it didn't seem like she knew what she was doing. She also cut my cuticle so badly that it continued to bleed throughout the entire time she was doing my nails. So this is a warning for anyone looking at reviews wanting to get the hard gel - IT HURTS. A LOT. I did some research and it sounds like the thicker the layer of gel, the more it will hurt. I would think that a professional nail salon would know to do thinner layers as to not hurt their customers. I will probably be returning as I have had good experiences before, but I will be going back to SNS dip. I definitely think Queen Spa should give some sort of warning to people new to hard gel, because the pain really ruined my experience, and it was pretty scary. My nails turned out nice, but there is still some residual pain today (one day after). **EDITED TO ADD:** River reached out to me after reading this review, and was very sweet and apologetic. She spoke with the nail techs to remind them that nothing should be this painful, and to communicate with customers better about what to expect with the service they select. I appreciate how River went above and beyond to ensure I knew that she cared about my experience and that she took what I said seriously. I have a lot of respect for business owners like River. If you have any issues at Queen Spa, I know that River will be happy to discuss and make sure something similar will not happen again. read more

Pedicure 5/5! Amazing. Dip Mani 2/5 - really subpar. Just depends on who you get I guess. My mani was rushed, nails are all different shapes, thicker than it should be and no cuticle work. Had to ask for them to unstick my nails from my fingers with a file. Big gel rings at the base of all my nails. Just really bad. Otherwise it's a nice spot but I had a really poor experience and I'm well versed in manicures. Sadly I won't be back. read more

I was really trying to like this place. I've been going to them since October, why? Because I didn't wanna go looking for somewhere else. But honestly. Save your time and money. If you need to pay more to go to a better place. Take my advice and do it. My last 2 appointments were terrible. First they removed the gel from my skin that the lady had dropped on me with a nail buffer, now I have a discoloration. I even decided to go back. Got builder gel and a pedi. And I'm embarrassed. They're all different sizes. Design looks like my niece did it. And they were so rushed. Again I really wanted to like them even for the basic things. But save your money. Their website makes it incredibly easy to book an appointment as well as check out prices. As soon as you enter your greeted by a king staff and beverages upon request. That being said the true gem of this place is nail technician Lee! She is a true artist and is always able to create the exact design I was hoping for. Everytime I come in with a crazy new design I found on Pinterest she always outdoes herself! Not to mention these nails always last me about three to four weeks without ever breaking. My friend recommended Queen Spa when I began frequenting Austin in October of 2022 and I have been back to their spa time and time again and always leave happy with a perfect mani. I usually always set an appointment but they're pretty accommodating when it comes to same-day appointments/walk-in's. My go-to nail tech is Iris. She is the sweetest and does an amazing job with dip manicures (SNS). But I will say that I have gone in last minute, as a walk-in and will have both a manicure and pedicure with whoever is available, and they all do great work. It was a random Saturday and I knew that I had a slim chance of getting in due to not having an appointment. Anyways, I called ahead and asked if they had room for me and the staff member advised me that they had room for me if I showed in about 20 minutes! So of course, I hopped in my car and zoomed right over. I had a minimal wait and was able to choose the color I wanted for my pedicure. I like their basic pedicure because it gets the job done without all the frills. My tech was efficient, kind, and nice. While I was in the chair I decided to add getting my nails done. This is where I became impressed. I had a vision in mind (from one of the pictures previously posted) and my tech new exactly what to do. I didn't need to add a tip (I like my natural nails REALLY short) and I am incredibly impressed with the overall look. The nail technician was so rough on my hands that almost one week later there's still blood where my cuticles were on several nails. One finger is bruised at the nail bed where she dug out my cuticle too. Six days after the manicure it's already chipped. Love love love coming here. I usually just walk-in for a mani-pedi and have never had to wait more than 5-10 minutes. Every nail tech I've had has been wonderful, though I know some people book with the same person every time they come! The place is like a well-oiled machine, rotating people from pedi chairs to the manicure tables as needed. Sometimes they'll start the mani during the pedi and just help you carefully relocate to a table for finishing once the pedi is done. I believe a solid variety of drinks are available though I always get the free water. I only started getting my nails done this year after 25 years of never even painting them, so I may not be the best person to comment on quality and other details-- but from my experience, I have no reason to go anywhere else and I will keep coming here as long as I can! I ended up getting my nails done for both my engagement photo shoot AND my wedding done here as a walk-in (risky, I know), but I was so happy with the results both times and the women loved talking weddings with me.
