Left me with a smile for the remainder of the day. Only negative and this isn't the fault of Turnips themselves was that on the day I went along, I found it really crowded and no real organization about it all. Felt chaotic. BUT I did choose to go during the summer holiday time so kinda my fault. I'd recommend it all in all. Good place to go on a day in London

It's an absolute must visit if you're in London - I absolutely love the food…read morestalls with prepared foods and all the specialty shops with snacks and packaged goods to bring back as souvenirs. On my recent trip I tried a couple of oysters, picked up some tinned fish to bring back and went to the duck/anchovy shop to grab anchovy and crab butter along with some little pots of mustards to try. There's really everything here from the most delicious spelt risotto to fresh seafood, paella and lobster. It can definitely get crowded on weekends but that's part of the fun.

As one might expect from a market that takes place in a school playground it is pretty small affair. It is exclusively a food market. There are around 12 stalls selling meat, cheese, fish, vegetables and juices. In contrast to other markets there is little food to eat as you walk (pies etc.) so best to visit for staples if you live in the area. There are a good selection of quality items; the juices are particularly good. This farmer's market isn't spectacular but nonetheless sells good stuff and worth visiting if you're a local.

It's huge underground area full of vintage shops! The prices were a little too pricey for me, but the best part was the food! There's a whole street food market in that area that serves all kinds of foods, drinks, and desserts. This was where I had the best mango sticky rice I've had in a long time! Strongly recommend checking this place out!

The cute decor attracts tourists for a picture inside or outside of the market or at one of the red telephone booths located nearby! The market area is mostly covered by tall ceiling structures, giving a small reprieve if it's raining, but it has an open air feel. What's funny about this market is that you can find local options or favorites from back home. There's a shake shack right in the center of the market, but you can find smaller craft eateries spread around. There are also different places to get a cup of hot mulled wine or hot chocolate and you'll find the long lines for Ben's cookies nearby! If you are coming to Covent Garden via the tube, know that this tube station is a wreck! It's incredibly busy and unless you want to walk up an endless flight of stairs, you'll need to wait and pack in like sardines into the elevator.

In terms of fruit theres top quality and actually taste-containing apples etc as well as more seasonal/exotic things like apricts and strawberries in the summer. I love the fact that you can just wander around at your leisure, and that you can try samples of things such as nice breads, real meats (their bacon and sausages are amazing, compared to the watery mush and beaks sold by some supermarkets) and cheeses and olives. Best of all the prices arent excessive and compare pretty well with supermarket prices for organic stuff. Also the food miles are minimal. Highly recommended.

They also have a side where you can sit and have some food or just enjoy the famous Monmouth coffee. Which I do almost every day. And now, they also have a counter where they sell treats from 'The Cinnamon Tree Bakery', so a visits is always a must if looking for some amazing chocolate brownies! A while ago I tried some looovely paella. Today I had a gooorgeous sandwich that was basically a mountain of beautifully cooked lamb with sweet chillie sauce, balanced on salad and ciabatta. It was sooo goood!! Next time I really want to try the hog roast with apple sauce. The only bad thing about this market is it is located between SOAS, Birkbeck and ULU...and is around the corner for UCL. So once the University year has started, you have to wait in line for quite a long time for the yummy food! Doh!!

A nice balance between ready to eat foods and groceries/take home products like bread, veg, raw meat, etc. Last time I had some fresh twisty pasta with walnut pesto, parmesan, and radicchio and it was REALLY good. It was like £4 or so, which is a good deal in my book. I'll certainly be back on another sunny day.
