Extremely Disappointing Experience and Unprofessional Practices…read more I am deeply frustrated with my experience at Passes Dental Care and would strongly advise others to look elsewhere. First, they opened my tooth knowing full well that I was going on vacation in less than a week. They knew there was a high probability I would need a root canal, yet after opening my tooth, they admitted they didn't have the ability to perform it and referred me out. I was forced to pay hundreds of out of pocket for a CT scan and an emergency pulpotomy, and now I am left with a temporary filling and forced to urgently find a specialist before my trip--a stressful situation that could have been handled much better. Second, they forced me to take and pay for a new CT scan, completely ignoring the fact that I had already provided a clear, up-to-date CT scan from another provider taken just two months ago. Third, their billing practices felt very deceptive. I was initially promised a very decent credit for a routine cleaning since I reached my insurance maximum. However, after the cleaning was completed, they went back on their word and demanded almost full payment. When I tried to speak up and address this, they turned around and increased the bill to around $250. I have been a loyal patient with this practice for years, and they have earned thousands of dollars from me over time. Yet despite this history, they completely refused to offer any fee adjustments or credits for their oversight, leaving me to spend thousands more out of pocket at a specialist. Poor communication, unfair billing, and terrible scheduling management. Save yourself the headache and go to a practice that respects your loyalty, health, and money.

During the first appointment, he redid the filling. Aside from a little pain, it was quick and over. Over the course of two weeks, the sensitivity/pain heightened. Being the paranoid person I am, I called and left a message. Dr. Gochman was nice enough to send a text and reminded me to be patient. The pain did not subside so I went back and Dr. Gochman asked some questions (scale of 1-10, how bad is the pain, how often, etc etc.). He observed the tooth and said he could do a root canal but his gut was telling him not to. He said I can wait a month to see how things pan out or seek a second opinion. I appreciated the honesty as my usual dentist's endo once recommended a root canal on another tooth which turned out to be perfectly fine. Anyway, while the visits were nice, the second visit felt as if Dr. Gochman did not really believe I was in as much discomfort as I mentioned or he was not in a great mood that particular day. But I'm still giving my visits a 4-star; I've read many great reviews on Yelp about Dr. Gochman's office and their service and I can only assume the uncertainty of the pandemic has affected everyone and my discomfort may not have been as serious as some of the other patients that the doctor has seen. Truly appreciate his office for taking new patients and the honesty given. Hoping that the pain ends soon and that when things are back to "normal", I can go into the doctor's office as a returning patient.

My daughter had to be taken by ambulance the first time to the hospital, admitted and stayed over night and had to undergo anesthesia, and an endoscopy, which, if not for the doctors error would not have had to endure. Upon a follow up visit to the Dr and for those of you horsing why would you go back to the same Dr well we were $38,000 into it so we had to finish this with this Dr the doctor then proceeded to drop the same exact instrument down her throat again now the doctor claims she has never in all her ears drop this instrument down anybody's throat, but yet managed to do it to my daughter twice my daughter already had issues with Dentist, hence needing such extensive dental care the Dr solution to this was not to send her to the hospital this time just go home and pass it on your own. I'm sure you will with no regard for the fact that by doing that if she had aspirated that instrument into her lungs, it could've killed her, but because she didn't want it on record that it happened twice we just sent her home. now in speaking with the doctor and trying to work this out amicably and come to some type of reconciliation the doctors solution to that was and is, oh I can take care of her bottom teeth for you for $35,000 more is she kidding, in what world would I ever do that? However within an hour of making the appointment received a call to confirm. I spoke quickly, as I too am in healthcare and don't answer the phone while at work. I shared my email asked for patient forms to be sent. That way I could arrive at 9am. Not earlier to complete the forms. My app was for 9am the following Saturday . Wednesday I even emailed them my prior dental X-rays. Thought that was confirmation enough I was coming. Throughout the week I received 9 phone calls and text messages as reminders. On my way to the offices they called again. I printed out the paperwork had it completed and on a clipboard as I walked in at 8:59am. There were 4 staff members there no one else in the waiting room no other cars in the parking lot. The first thing I heard was 'your late'. What a warm welcome. It was wet, rainy and as a type 1 diabetic i do my to be prepared. I was on time! But wow no hello or welcome. I was about to hand over my completd forms when I mentioned the overwhelming calls were a bit aggressive. The office manager, Maureen response was so many people are no shows. My response was TY for respecting me and putting me in with others. I was sure those others also emailed their reports, X-rays and verbally confirmed at least 3 out of the 9 times I was contacted. At that point I decided to leave. They lost a family because of aggressive patient treatment. I'm sitting in the parking lot already booked another appointment for 2 hours from now. Not one other patient or car has come into the lot. Don't think it's the Dentist.

I should begin this review by saying that I've had extensive work done here, and unfortunately a great deal of different procedures at other dentists and periodontists in NYC and Florida. Dr. Moskowitz is a dream dentist. He's as upbeat as he can be, yet he never sugarcoats the situation. He will answer endless questions, and never seems frustrated or irritated. I don't like dentists, and I am kind of a wuss when it comes to pain, but he is unfailingly gentle, and will stop and administer more anesthetic in the middle of a procedure if the patient wants it. I cannot say enough about my experience with him, and with his assistant, who also went to dental school, Dora. They are an amazing team, and I trust them completely. Why? I read some previous reviews about unnecessary work ordered, but I had all different options and price points discussed with me, and wasn't pushed toward the most expensive option. My father made the same decision to have a permanent bridge put in, and his dentist (in Florida) was not as good as Advanced Dental Care - he gets food caught under it and it irritates his gums. My bridge fits so well that I feel like it's nearly my natural teeth. They didn't rush to cement it in, but used temporary paste, until I was sure that the fit was absolutely correct. So why not 5 stars? They are EXPENSIVE. I have dental insurance, and with the insurance that they take, I'm still paying tens of thousands of dollars out of my own pocket. I know that there are less expensive dentists out there, but I've decided that the thoroughness and expertise that I have experienced here are worth the money. After all, it is your mouth, and I don't know about you, but I like eating. They make sure that they accommodate my schedule, and after hearing my dad complain about the dental work that he had done, I think it is ABSOLUTELY worth the cost.

Extremely long wait after appointment time to be seen, and the administration is horribly managed. This place is terrible. I went to get my wisdom teeth removed. The consultation was standard and everything went fine. They verified that I was qualified for a loan and repayment plan but then I received a letter in the mail after my surgery saying that I did not qualify for the extended repayment plan despite being assured before my surgery that I was. They had me sign up for a plan that caused me financial stress under false pretenses. They called to reschedule my surgery twice which caused confusion with my job because I had to request time off for the surgery and then change it, twice. When I arrived for my surgery, I had to wait an hour and half to be seen by the surgeon whose assistant did not follow her instructions to x ray me while I waited, causing more of a delay. The guy before me had been waiting for two hours. The surgery itself went fine. They have very capable doctors. But so do A LOT of other dental offices. I received IV sedation and it was very fast. The big issue with this place is the management and administration. It is VERY poorly managed. They sent my scripts to the wrong pharmacy (TWICE!) and it took a few hours after my surgery to get them. Also, I requested an itemized receipt for my surgery both before and after my procedure. Was initially told hey can't give that to me until after the procedure. Then on 10/12 when I followed up I was told it would take a day to get to me. It's 10/17 and I still don't have my itemized receipt and they have not called me back. This is what I wonder: 1. I asked for an itemized receipt before my surgery and they said that they could not provide this until after the surgery because that's when they would be able to calculate the totals. 2. If that's the case why did they give me a solid price (the wording was, verbatim "the surgery will cost $2400". It was a definitive statement and not a quote) and have me sign up for a loan and repayment plan based on this amount if they can't actually calculate the totals until after the procedure? 3. Why are they unable to supply an itemized receipt when requested? Why don't they already have this information calculated and on file? Why won't they return my calls about this? Why are they being so shady about this? I am concerned that this place takes advantage of those who need dental work and who may be economically vulnerable, in a lot of pain, and who may be desperate to get this work done. I sincerely regret using Brooklyn Dental and besides my follow up, will never see them again.

So I powered through the cold and found the little 3 room office. Dr. Towbin has been in this office since 1969 (see photos for his mugshot), that's some time! He's a very straightforward guy and helped determine that my issue was with my sinuses not my teeth. I'm not a regular patient but I thought his staff was solid and he was knowledgable and generally interested in his patients. Seems like a solid pick for a dentist.

But she is the first dentist to share that while I don't have any cavities there is an area that a small cavity has formed but if I keep flossing it may never spread and may never need a filling.
