Update on 7/20/26 I took my wife to Queen's urgent care located on Hunakai St. next door to Kahala Mall . She had a small fall so she wanted to make sure everything was ok . We got there around 5:30pm and there were 3 other patients there . I told my wife we're going to be waiting at least 3 hours . To my surprise not too bad we got into the room @ 6:45pm and we were out of there around 7:00pm. Dr.Aaron was very pleasant and very informative he also advised us the reason this particular location so busy you have lots of seniors that come here and they ask more questions and take longer examining them . Mutha! I'm sick!!! I rarely get sick, so whenever I do get sick, I'm totally shocked and I really don't know what to do! Lol! I recently changed doctors because my primary care doctor that I've been seeing for the last 10 years joined that MDVIP thingy. The MDVIP thing is pretty costly as I had to pay $3450 for a one year membership just so I could see my primary care doctor. Although she was worth every penny I paid just to see her, if I had money pouring out of my butt I would have stayed with her, but I am only a few years away from retirement, so I am thinking ahead to save me a few smackaz. Earlier this year (April), I switched to a new doctor at Queen's Hospital that way I could avoid having to pay the $3450 just to see a doctor and that doesn't even include the normal co-pay fees that we pay after we see our doctor. You add in the cost for meds, and you're looking at a pretty sum of money. One things for sure, I can clearly see a big difference in the level of service I get from the MDVIP doc, vs. the regular doc at Queen's, but that's life. You get what you pay for! I wasn't able to get an appointment with my new primary care doctor at Queen's on the day I called in, so I decided to head on down to the Queen's Island Urgent Care in Kahala. The nice thing about this place was when I called in, someone actually picked up the phone. The gentleman who picked up the phone was very cordial and honest. I asked the gentleman if they took appointments, he said no. It was basically a "1st come, 1st serve basis" and he was honest with me telling me that they were busy that day with about 11 to 12 folks waiting in the lobby. I was thinking 11 to 12 folks? That's nothing & I shoud be able to see someone within 1 to 2 hours? Boy, was I totally WRONG! So I checked in at the Kahala clinic at 11:30 am and by the time I actually got into a room to see a doctor, it was 3:30 pm. Do da math folks! YIKES!!! They swabbed my noise for Covid-19 & Flu, I ended up getting the flu which I haven't had in a long time. I was walking around with a low grade fever & didn't even know it. On the bright side, the doctor who saw & helped me - Dr Ayesha P. Wilbourn was wonderful! Great service, listen to what I had to say, then ordered up some meds for me to be picked up at Longs Drugs. If it wasn't for the super long wait time, this clinic would have graded out much better, but I guess maybe they were short staffed that day? read more

I felt sick and decided to stop by Queen's Island Urgent Care. Located next to Kahala Mall on Hunakai St., there's parking in the back of the building. I went in at 10:45 am and was quoted a 2 hour wait. I decided to wait in the clinic. Since the clinic is on a walk-in basis, you must be present when your name is called. The waiting room is comfortable. There's seats and a clean restroom to use. I should have went to the mall to grab something to eat during that 2 hour estimate. The 2 hour wait time was accurate. I got called around 12:45 pm. A specialist checked me in first, taking my vitals. After a 15 minute wait, Dr. Kauhane came for the check up. He was attentive, empathetic, and listened to my concerns. He gave advice on how to handle my ailment, and set up my prescription. The process was easy and simple. After that, another specialist came by to do this discharge. I am thankful for Dr. Kauhane and the clinic staff. Everyone was so friendly and helped me feel relaxed even with my ailment. Wish the wait times were shorter, but the doctor shortage is a statewide issue. read more

We have been waiting for over 2.5 hours and still haven't been seen. At 1.5 hours of waiting I checked to see if we were in the queue we were and was told that we were next. This is the kind of thing that forces people to clog up the emergency room. This is frustrating and absolutely unacceptable to have your patients wait this long to be seen. read more

My experience with Queen's Island Urgent Care was very positive. The facility is new and extremely clean. The check in staff was friendly and efficient. They informed me from the start that there was only one doctor working so I might have to wait 1-1.5 hours, but better than ER. The intake assistant was friendly. And Dr. Core was kind and listened without feeling I was being rushed. She addressed my issues and explained everything with patience. Even the xray technician was nice. When you hurt it's nice to know it's here... I've been to the Kaka'ako many times out of convenience though the parking is just about non existence here is just the reverse as there are parking in the back and along side their building which is very nice. I've been having horrible knee pains so I decided to get some pain pills and the only way to visit a doctor and this was my only option on a Saturday night. Checking in was such a breeze as I gave my ID and insurance card I had nothing to fill out as all my information was already in the system so all it was just some update and a very short wait until my name was called. Understandably short staffed after I was checked in it was a bit of a wait for the doctor to arrive but as soon as he came in he did look familiar and only later I realized that it was the same from the other location and he was just a delight and as we discussed my issue and came to agreement of treatment option I was quickly on my way. Discomfort is such an exhausting feeling and here it helps when you have little to no options on what you can do, I'm just grateful for the help I've received as life does have it's moments but we all can live with it with the help of Queen's Island Urgent Care. Very disappointed with this Urgent Care. Their sign should be NO CARE! Our dr. retired and the our new dr. can't see us until June. I asked the Queen's Team Care how we could get refills for our prescriptions. That person told us we could go to any urgent care to get it. My husband went to this location. The intake person was nice but gave every excuse in the book not to give him what he needed. It wasn't like he was asking for narcotics. He wanted a refill for his high blood pressure. They said he didn't have a current blood report. Well, I'm sure they could run a blood test there. Long story short, they couldn't do anything to assist my husband and said he could go to another location. WTF?!! We ended up going to the Kapahulu location and they were so accommodating. Receptionists are very helpful. once it was a short wait and the other time it was busy and so had to wait, but its an urgent care and to be expected so did not mind. I took my daughter here because she had flu like symptoms and I wanted her to get the flu test to see if she had it. They have a rapid test and it took less than 10 minutes to get the exam. Staff did their jobs quickly. All in all, we had a good experience. I liked having a short wait time and everyone coming in and doing their jobs efficiently. Headed to surgical procedure room. There appeared to be 6 exam rooms and one surgical procedure room. Painless procedure. Front desk and medical staff courteous and nice. Grateful that it was slow when I arrived. Little wait. But much busier earlier per staff member. So be prepared to wait. read more

Not sure what happened to island urgent care in general. Went to another one other week and was two hour wait there. Doctor said can only see you for one thing. Never was like that. Queens URGENT care is the wrong name. It should be called Queens LONG WAIT CARE. Here's my experience, I went to see them today at 11:45am. Checked in and then waited until 2:30pm. I didn't want to wait any longer so I left. When I checked in I looked around and saw only a few people. Before I left a man asked the check-in how much longer he would have to wait. They told him you're number 3 on the list, so about an hour and a half. My recommendation is that the management do a review of the staff and fix the problem. Maybe send it someone and see how long it takes to be seen. Either way I'm going to Straub next time. Avoid this place, if people stop going they'll be forced to either close or do a personnel review. read more

Went to this Kahala Queens Island Urgent Care to see if they could help me with my nausea. Doctor Frank Williams was the doctor that saw me. I felt dehydrated, and have gone through this before, so I know. He took a urine test and was analyzing my urine instead of dealing with my dehydration. He was explaining that I need more tests because he detected blood in my urine. I explained to him that my whole family has blood in their urine, blah, blah, blah... To sum up my visit with Dr. Frank Williams, he didn't treat my nausea and dehydration because their facility doesn't do IVs and that I should go to the ER. I waited for 2 hours, then another hour doing the urine test and so forth. Waste of time! read more

Install a handicap friendly door. How do your doors not have a button to open for wheelchairs or others that need assistance opening doors? If it takes more than 5-lbs of force to open your door, you're not compliant with ADA Standards. I came in with a broken arm... oh no I can't open the door. I'm in a wheelchair... oh no I can't open your door. I'm on crutches... oh no I can't open the door. Aside from this door issue, the doctors and nurses are good and the facilities are much cleaner than the Queens ER. Depending how bad your case is they may send you to the ER anyway tho. On a good note, DLS is closer now for you to get blood labs done. I observed it may take you 2 hours to see them. They will not give you a phone call or text if you leave and will not hold your place in line. You must stay in the waiting area and look at their one Honolulu luxury magazine if it's available. That or eavesdrop on elderly people having a yelling match since they probably forgot their hearing aids. ALSO Give your nurses a break nurse and adequate staffing before you see another strike! read more

Nice facility with parking in the back. It's right next to Kahala Mall where American Savings Bank used to be. Nice that it has X ray capabilities- I'm not sure if the old Hawaii Kai one had. I sure miss that urgent care there. Now we have only the Kahala facility ( besides the Kapahulu one) that serves east Honolulu if you want to stick to the The Queen's Medical Center system. That being said, the Kahala one is very busy. When I got there I was warned it was a 1-1/2 to 2 hour wait. Waiting room is quite spacious and nice- good thing because you'll be there awhile. Don't forget your ID and insurance card! I was called in after a relatively short wait but then it was wait of well over an hour until the doctor came in. The medical assistant had taken my vitals and history earlier. Dr. Kauhane was very nice and polite. He listened to me and did a thorough exam. He ordered X-rays and EKG which was done there. Nice. After putting together a plan of care, he cleared me to go. Noticed the bathroom had no soap to wash hands. Seemed like Dr. Kauhane was the only doctor there which made for a busy schedule. A friend of mine who works at the other Urgent care said Queen's was being very stingy with staffing. So expect to wait folks. And realize that "urgent" doesn't mean you'll be seen as soon as you walk in. It's another place you can go to see a doctor THAT DAY without an appointment. You will wait but you'll be seen. You should visit Queen's ER- waits are horrible there too. read more

I've been here 3 times and each time was a great experience. I appreciate there long hours and reasonable wait times. They are always calm and very nice even when people are pretty rude to them. The front team members are knowledgable and in control even when there is a line of patients. First 2 visits we only waited 5 minutes in line and 30 minutes to be seen. Recent visit I waited 5 minutes in line and an hour to be seen. I would say allow 2 hours from start to finish if you plan to go in. I'm grateful they are here and always treat us with respect so I don't mind the wait. Otherwise you would be going to the emergency room and probably wait even longer or wait until your doctor's office opens the next weekday. I would recommend not going in 1-30 minutes before closing if you can help it. If there are a lot of patients waiting you might not be seen. Doctors and team members here are awesome! read more

Suffered a concussion and was back to work dealing only with organizing papers. I experienced a growing severe headache and fatigue. The next day came to work trying to tough it out but was dizzy and light headed so that's when I went to urgent care. Dr Jose briceno saw me and right off the bat told me I look fine to work an 8 hr day. Mind you he did no motor function test and no plr test with the light and was five feet away. Gifted maybe? I asked if he could adjust my work restrictions because I have lasting symptoms from just 3 hrs of work. He said that would be illegal and that I look fine to work and when trying to talk to him he would leave his stethoscope in his ears and make me repeat my self three or more times before taking them out. Feeling defeated and frustrated I asked him if he could at least note down that after 3hrs of work I was experiencing severe headaches and fatigue. He replied with he will note down that I was disrespectful. He finally did motor function tests which were abnormal in nature from what I did before. Checking my work restrictions later he made them for longer hours on most positions and okay to climb 3-6 hours where it was 0 hours before. Though he said it would be illegal to modify my work restrictions is what I thought. Very spiteful man and incompetent in my eyes as he did no plr test. Says he works on Kapahulu urgent care as well. The office looks newly renovated and parking is very convenient either in front on Hunakai Street or in the back of the office building. Our entire family has been coming to Queen's Island Urgent Care for several years and every time we see Dr. Aaron Kauhane, we get the best care! Dr. Aaron is a combination of kind, professional, and knowledgeable. He takes the time to explain his thought processes and goes in depth about what is going on via pathophsiology. His honesty and experience minimizes the need to order unnecessary tests or procedures. I appreciate his critical thinking skills and always feel like our family is in very good hands under his care and guidance. Horrible first experience. Don't be dooped and made to feel like a fool like I was. Got there at 730am to make sure I was first in line. Parked in the kahala mall side parking lot of urgent care. Right above my car was a giant sign that read "urgent care." Pretty explicitly clear I'm in the right place. 8am, lights turn on inside, I realize the door I'm standing in front of is unlocked. The other woman behind me says, "oh I wonder if it automatically unlocks?" She walks in after me and follows me. I walk in and head towards the counter. The woman working the front desk walks over to open the door on the street side, while looking at me very oddly. She walks to the side of the building there are just a handful of parking spots. She turns to me and says, "these people have been waiting." There is a line of maybe 10+ people. I say to her, "I have been waiting since 730." I point to the door and ask, "isn't that an entry? There's a sign above the door saying urgent care." She looks like a deer in headlights and says, "what?"I ask again, "isn't that an entrance? There's a sign above the door saying urgent care. I've been waiting there since 730." She just stares at me. Now this mob of elderly people start saying "we've been waiting!" I am so confused...so have I! If there is only one entrance, how did I get in? If there is supposed to be one location for a line to form, why is there no information at the door under the giant sign that says urgent care in the parking lot with the sign that also reads "urgent care," instructing potential patients to enter from *only* the street side? It was the most awkward and uncomfortable feeling, on top of feeling like crap...which is the reason for going to such a place. If I had 3 hours to sit and wait to go after those other people, I would have contemplated that, however I don't thus the reason I was there at 730, waiting under a giant "urgent care" sign. Came in because of an eye injury. First thing front desk has me do is write out forms which I understand is normal protocol. But man having someone with an eye injury trying to read and write as my eyes are tearing up from a reflex and snot running out of my nose because of the trigerminal nerve being triggered. If it were me, id offer help on filling out the forms. The front desk as I struggle to read and fill out the forms is eating chips in front of my face. Then I wait 3 flipping hours just to get into a room and then made to wait additional hours just to get seen and I cant even leave at this point because they took my blood pressure already so I was going to get charged for them spending 15 seconds so I was stuck to wait as my eyes are burning and in pain. Do not let the name fool you. There is no urgency found anywhere in this clinic. It took the front desk approx 30mins to check me in... they said they were using a new system, so hey, I'll give them that. At least they were polite. I get called back to a room 45 mins after arriving. The Medical Assistant literally reminded me of the DMV sloths in zootopia.. legit was comical. She must have also been on the "new system" as every click was tedious to watch... Then I had to use the bathroom -- urgently.. someone said "wait.. don't go in there the toilet doesn't flush!." I said I needed a toilet that flushes.. to which the doctor responds "don't worry I fixed it earlier." Then Dr. Kwok, DO enters the room.. the whole time he's looking at me like I'm some infectious freak.. trying his best to stay as far away from me as possible.. he begrudgingly did a quick check.. washes his hands all dramatically and uses a paper towel to open the door and exit as quickly as possible. I head to longs to pick up my anti-nausea medicine he prescribed and they said "that's weird the doctor prescribed the same medicine 3 different times to you." My PCP doesn't have available appointments until June, so I chose to go to Queen's Island Urgent Care in Kahala. This is the first time that I felt that the doctor did not care. When a nurse checked me in, I stated the three reasons I was there. The doctor was impatient when I spoke about my ailments. I felt rushed, as if he couldn't finish the appointment quick enough. He dealt with two of the reasons and was ready to release me. I brought up the third reason for my being there and he sighed, looked to the side, and lifted his arms as if saying, "Are you serious?" He quickly dismissed my complaint. The doctor did not bother did to get all the details regarding my ailments, and as a result, I think he made an incorrect diagnosis. Kahala. Not crowded but waited over an hour. Running out of BP meds. Without them, my BP can reach 200/110. Called Queens for a PCP appointment and since nothing is available for a month, asked if urgent care could help me with a refill. Was told they could. But they didn't. You'd think I was asking for opioids instead of life sustaining medication. Won't go into the whole song and dance I got. Here are the highlights. I'm not in the system. Not necessarily. When I called for the appointment, was told I was in the system, based on some past OB/GYN work. I'm not in the system for cardiovascular. Are the tourists commenting here in the system? The prescription was old and didn't match what I was saying. Besides, my BP wasn't that high anyway, 14?/8?. Of course not. Took the last pill yesterday. As a result, he couldn't trust my story, as if this were some sort of scam. I had gotten confused over which MD had given me the prescription and when. I'm in my 70s, for crying out loud. The scrip was old because I couldn't tolerate the side effects and didn't take it until my BP started giving me headaches and blurry vision. I also don't need a full dose and cut the pills in half. A full dose doesn't improve my BP and gives me a convulsive cough. If he gave me such dangerous medication without more information, I could stroke out and he'd be in serious trouble. And if you don't give me life sustaining meds and I stroke out, you won't be in trouble? Already letting everyone I know what happened. Just in case. Told him I didn't like being talked to in a condescending manner, asked for his bill, which he indicated was zero, and left. Like my BP needs this aggravation. Will need a sleep aid so I don't lie awake all night angry. Years ago, got into an argument with a Queens receptionist about revealing my Social Security Number. Haven't done that since the previous millennium and no medical facility insisted on it, until Queens Hawai'i Kai. The SSN is for Social Security only. It's been removed from Department of Defense IDs and is no longer the Medicare account number. This receptionist got so angry at my "disobeying" her, I wondered if this was about ID theft on her part. That was Strike One, Queens. No wonder I avoided Queens for so long. This incident is Strike Two. We'll see how January's appointment goes. I bounce from MD to MD because I'm often not heard nor believed. It is said most MDs don't believe their patients, expect patients to lie. I don't. Only I live inside this skin. No amount of dissections, residencies, etc., can fully represent my life experience. And I really don't like being talked down to, which seems endemic in the MD ranks. read more

I came here with my lethargic and sick 4 year old daughter straight from the airport after landing in Hawaii. The staff here tended to my daughters needs extremely diligently and were kind and accommodating to our out of town needs. I want to specifically mention Kala, the nurse, she was extremely understanding and made my sick daughter feel extremely comfortable. Her loving and caring demeanor turned out hellish day around. Kala's compassion alongside with Dr. Briceño's attentiveness provided the comfort and attention we were seeking after a long days of traveling with a sick toddler. I am beyond grateful for their support and kindness that really turned our miserable travel experience around. First time visiting this office and they were really professional. They took care of my flu symptoms and ran rapid tests. We were looking to get some medical attention to a minor issue but did not want to wait and schedule a regular appointment with our primary care physician. I do know that urgent care providers are a good source for a quick doctor visit with no appointments necessary. After researching through Yelp the nearest one in my community, there are mixed information for the Queens Island Urgent care. On Yelp, it states that the one target location is closed but when I called my health insurance provider, they showed it as open and reconfirmed. I tried calling the local number several times but always got the answering machine message. After going to the Hawaii Kai location which is also noted on the Queens phone number message, we found that this location in the Hawaii Kai Shopping center is only for primary care and NOT a walk in type facility. The nearest location was near Kahala Mall. The Queen's Island Urgent care at 1215 Hunakai Street which is right outside of Kahala Mall. Upon arrival, we found the reception desk to be vacant and no one around. We waited for about 10 minutes when I finally decided to knock on the door into the exam rooms. Finally the health care worker came out and apologized for the wait. Following this, the process to get checked in was fairly simple if you have already visited any other Queen's facility in the past. You will be asked to show your ID and insurance card followed with payment of the visit co-payment. The waiting area is very nice with ample modern seating and a large screen display the the Food channel program playing. I had an appointment for worker's comp at the Hawaii Kai location this week and when I showed up, they were closed and had a sign saying to go to either Kahala or Waikiki locations. Since I'm dealing with an injured back, I depend on rides to my appointments, so I was upset that I got no notification of their closure ahead of time and couldn't get a ride out to Kahala. So I've been trying to call the Kahala one in the last 3 days to reschedule but no one answers their phone and it goes to an answering machine. Left multiple messages to reschedule but no one has responded to any of them. Finally get a letter now explaining that HK location is permanently closed due to mold in the facility. Would've been nice to get this letter a week ago, especially them knowing I had an appointment that was made 2 weeks ago. read more

My son was experiencing pain when urinating and said he had a sore stomach. It was so painful that he didn't want to eat or use the bathroom. His PCP wasn't able to see him that day so I took him to Urgent Care. Dr. B informed me that the test they performed didn't show any bacteria in his urine sample so they would be sending it to DLS. He said it would take 2 days for the results to come back and told me someone would call me with the results. I was taken aback that this doctor was planning to send us on our way without providing any advice regarding the symptoms my son was still experiencing. I had to press him for information and asked what we should do about the pain since my son didn't want to eat or go to the bathroom. He responded, "We'll, that's a good question..." The suggestion he offered was to give my son less fluids so he wouldn't feel the need to use the bathroom as much. (This advice seems questionable and is contrary to the advice provided by most medical professionals in cases of dysuria). Dr.B also told me that antibiotics may not be effective since there was no sign of bacteria in the urine sample. After repeatedly asking what we should do to address the pain, he nurse suggested giving my son Tylenol. With a complete lack of empathy, Dr. B told me that I could always just bring my son back as he would be working the following day. It has now been 3 days with absolutely no follow up by any staff member so I called to find out the results of the urinalysis completed by DLS. The receptionist said they don't have that information in their posession so I would need to obtain the results through DLS. I questioned this as the results should have been returned to the facility who requested the urinalysis. He took my information and said he would pass it on to one of the doctors who would call me when she has time. I informed him that I've scheduled an appointment with my son's PCP and would like to obtain the results before the appointment this afternoon. I'm extremely frustrated and disappointed in the lack of quality care at this location. It was a complete waste of time and $. How can a group of urgent care facilities close for 2 days for training??? Wanting to drop in for an evaluation of my ankle to see if it was broken or sprained, we drove to the Kahala urgent care to find a sign that said they're closed for 2 days for training. Logically we called the next nearest one in Kapahulu and the recording said they were OPEN. When we arrived there was a sign that said they too were closed for 2 days. It didnt help.that the other nearest urgent care (Straub) opens at 10am! If only they had changed their recording, we would have saved a lot of frustration. read more

Beautiful facility, but service was slow. Was there waiting around for nearly 2 hours. In the end I was told to seek care from a specialist. Medical assistant told me she would return to me to check my BP again in 5 a10 minutes. but she never came back. Neither will I. read more

It seemed that they didn't want to help me. Constantly felt pushed out because line of patients were too long. Did not want to accommodate me and I was very frustrated being that I needed care. read more
