I happened to choose Alex since alphabetically he was at the top of the online booking options and have been going to him for the last 3 years. Consistently great haircuts and I never have to remind him of what sort of cut I get as he remembers every time. Super professional. Timely-no haircut has ever taken more than 15 minutes but not in a rushed way at all. Alex runs a really smooth operation.

However, his actual availability never matched the schedule he gave me. After several failed attempts to set up a cut, I decided it was time to move on. I got online and searched for "best barber shops in Queens." Right at the top of the search was Prestige Barbershop here in Lefferts. Honestly, I've walked past this place many times before without stopping. I had the impression that barbershops in Kew Gardens don't always deliver the best fades. Naturally, I assumed this one might be the same and planned to head to Jamaica for a fade instead. But these guys have done something smart. They have a website, offer online scheduling, and showcase all their barbers on Instagram. That's what made me decide to give them a shot. I checked out the barbers and their work on Instagram, and I was impressed -- their fades looked solid. That simple, smart move of being visible online and showing their skills won them a new customer. I told the owner kudos for that. Plus, booking an appointment was really easy and convenient with no back and forth or hassle. If you've ever dealt with barbers who make the scheduling process more complicated than it needs to be, you know what I mean. The cut looks clean, and I like it, though next time I might go back to a fade. I'm used to getting fades, but I'm open to trying new styles. I'll see how it grows out in the next few weeks. The plan was to do a cut that looks good now and continues to look good as it grows in over time. That part remains to be seen. Overall, I was quite satisfied with the haircut, the service, and the shop. I scheduled about a month in advanced and very soon after he got booked up fast! So schedule early and soon guys! I am not from New York and was flying in. I messaged him on Instagram questions I had about my haircut and he was very responsive. When I arrived, he knew who I was and addressed me accordingly. I scheduled a regular scissor haircut, but he took his time and even explained what and how he was cutting my hair. He even took a video for me to save for later! My haircut came out so much better than I envisioned. This man is an artist and I cannot recommend him enough. COME SEE THIS MAN. You will not be disappointed!!

It's a 45-minute cut. 20 minutes makes a difference! I was looking for a new barber, not a one-off cut. Once a dude acts flippant with my time, why bother? I knew I'd never be back without even sitting in the chair.
