Be careful if you can't speak Spanish! I scheduled an appointment over the phone with a guy who spoke English, but when I showed up none of the 3 barbers spoke any English. They only spoke Spanish. Sunday morning, there was only one guy cutting, with one waiting on the side and the wait was over an hour. The large flat screen showing Netflix movies helped pass the time but I'd still rather be out the door sooner than passing time in the barber shop watching a screen. Obviously there's no concession stand nearby and the bench viewing seats were terribly uncomfortable. Unfortunately for me, in the same manner that the screen provides a distraction for the waiting customer, it did seem the screen (and the screen selection) was a distraction for the one doing the cutting. As for the cut itself, I don't think I got what I asked for. It was much shorter then what I had requested. I asked for a box frame up top and he gave me more of a rounded top cut. I've also never been turned in the chair away from the mirror so many times for a cut before. The barber seemed not to want to move from his standing spot. The prices for a cut are $18 which are about average for men. I had to tip more because there wasn't change as well. Not really the best experience. read more

In all honesty, not only is the service top tier but the attention to the client and their requests is amazing. My boyfriend and siblings came in for a cut today and were taken care by Danny. Very charismatic and pays close attention to detail while working with his clients to fit to the style they're looking for. I've been coming here for a little over a year now having switched from a pricier shop in the East Village, and Nick's blows them out of the water. I have an admittedly high standard for haircuts, but I can't think of a single time they haven't delivered and then some. As someone who likes to experiment with new cuts/styles/colors etc often, they've never shied away from my more creative requests and are seriously great at working with you to get the cut you want. I've had particularly excellent experiences with Nick and Felix but honestly, anyone there will hook you up! Worth traveling to even if you're not in the neighborhood, but if you're in Bushwick/Ridgewood and in need of a fresh cut you should definitely do yourself a favor and pay Nick & co. a visit! read more

I shaved my head at the beginning of the year and had never been to a barber shop before. It was a little intimidating for me as a woman going to any barber shop and I read a lot of reviews for places around the area before picking Nick's. Gone a few times now, would have gone more often but COVID made me learn how to give myself some coronacuts. I thought I was doing alright until I went to Nick's for my first cut since COVID broke and it made me really appreciate the difference-- my hair is way lighter and looks and feels very neat in a way I love and definitely could not do on my own with a $20 razor and a handheld mirror in the bathroom. I've only ever gotten a haircut with Nick, I never know how to describe what I want but he's a super nice dude and I've gotten a fire cut every time, there are chill parrots that hang around too, and especially compared to salon prices, it's a steal. Would definitely recommend, especially to any other ladies who have also decided to just cut it all off and are finding themselves entering a porcupine phase (particularly relevant if you also have thick Asian hair that just grows straight out for a while). read more

This is a classic Ridgewood go-to spot for a great haircut every single time. I personally try to always make an appointment to fit my schedule and theirs, but it's not always necessary and I have walked in many times. I was told that I was next in line and after 30 minutes of waiting inside, they sat one of their friends who just walked in. Wtf?

I used to frequent Nick's no2 til my last time there - my barber was texting & taking phone calls throughout my entire cut. what should have taken no more than 30 minutes took an hour because he literally had his hands on his phone more than on the clippers and my hair. So I decided to go to good ol' Nick's (no1) this time, expecting the service I was used to before. Well, to my dismay, it ended up being nothing but a waste of time. although I was sitting in the shop for over an hour, not a single barber or worker acknowledged me with even so much as a head nod. I really don't know how they've accumulated so many five star reviews with their lack of basic customer service, which is why I've been prompted to write this review. Learn to greet your customers. give them estimated wait times. & maybe train your employees to stay off their phones when their with clients. read more

4 barbers inside the store none of them actually doing anything. All sitting on their phones even while cutting someone's hair. Making everything uneven and when they mess up blame it on the poor person sitting there getting their hair ruined. Sat inside for 20 minutes watching one of them manipulate a kid about his hair style because he kept cutting it too short while being too busy on his phone. read more

Price wise it's the cheapest you'll find BUT the quality is also AMAZING. $15 male haircuts all the time and I always tips $5, because of how much the quality of the cut is deserving of. Judging by the photos, it seems they do great with coarse hair but they are clueless about fine hair. Massacred my hair. Gave me something between an abused hedgehog and an army buzzcut. Again, if your hair dark and thick, i have no reason to think they would screw it up. Thats why its 2 stars and not 1. Go to Juanchi's instead. That guy is excellent. read more
